Yeah but the leaves are HD. This is definitely an intentional look they're going for. And as jiji pointed out, the sprites that remain are not even identical to the originals. They're redoing the assets, but in a pixelated style.I thought those are objects that they can also place in other houses etc than just there. Stuff on the wall are pixelly too.
And yeah I also don't think it looks bad.
I think it looks less odd in motion in the videos.Wait, those aren't WIP shots? Well then, that's a really odd style. Not sure I could stomach it for very long.
That's my understanding. What a shame I can't get the Genesis version for that price anymore.Amazing product for the price they were sold at the time.
Because those are noticeably harder platforms to target than PC/X360/Mac/Linux/Xbox. Plus, you need actual contracts with Nintendo or Sony to release on the 3DS/Vita/PS3 whereas all of the platforms that they are targeting have a self-publishing option.
When they say that the X360 version will have achievements, I imagine they're assuming that their game is good enough that they'll be able to convince Microsoft to give them an actual XBLA release and not that they actually have an agreement with Microsoft yet.
Wow, 57,000 in 2 days...we are really humbled by everyone's support. We can't express how excited we are and how much we are looking forward to bringing you guys Pier Solar HD!
We've got a surprise for everyone to celebrate!
We wanted to keep this easter egg a secret till a little later... but since there have been so many questions about it, we decided to announce this for everyone right now!
The original SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis graphics of Pier Solar HD will be playable on every single platform, XBOX360, PC, Mac, Linux, and Sega Dreamcast.
It will be unlock-able by finding a special in game item, a "Pier Solar Mega Drive Cartridge" that is hidden somewhere in the very beginning of the game...
Once you fin d this, it will unlock the entire version of Pier Solar for the SEGA Mega Drive & SEGA Genesis!
If he did, I take my hat off to him. Man, that game is such a chore.
Out of curiosity, what's wrong with it?
Opinions. To some people it looks pretty nice outside certain issues mentioned (ie, the plant being half HD half pixel art, which could be because it's unfinished). So, I don't get it. What's the point of having partly HD artwork and then having 16-bit sprites in front of them? It looks absolutely hideous that way.
We asked a source close to the developer if they were considering bringing the game to Wii U, and they informed us that although a Nintendo version isn't in active development at the moment, if the Kickstarter campaign does well enough then "Wii U would be the #1 next choice".
Damn, I missed the genesis version. Is it possible to get that?
The low res sprites and background elements clash with the HD art...looks ugly.
