According to Rtings:
US KS8000 = EU KS7000
US KS9000 = EU KS8000
So for me the 7000 is better than the 8000...!? Okay!
Hey guys. I've just set up a soundbar and there seems to be a noticeable delay in audio through the optical port. Is there any fix for this? I've got multiple devices so plugging the optical cord in to one of them isn't really an option.
Should I avoid the Coaxial cable?
My panel has some clouding when the screen is black or totally grey. Is this normal or should I get it replaced?
Has anyone had problems with the TV blinking on and off when hooked to a PC? I can't seem to pin down what is causing this. I've replaced the HDMI cable, trying various settings on and off. Doesn't happen with my XBO or PS4.
If I'm using a regular Xbox One with this TV, what should I set the colour depth to in the console's settings? 24 bits (8-bit), 30 bits (10-bit), or 36 bits (12-bits)?
There's a menu option to set the amount of delay on the optical output, try adjusting it from the default setting.
Is the delay slightly less on game mode?Yeah I tried that. It doesn't make any difference
Anyone else got any ideas?
Is the delay slightly less on game mode?
It means the post processing of the other modes are introducing lag to the audio signal. I think the delay setting is supposed to help synchronize this.Oh shit it is indeed. Any chance Samsung fixes this?

If it's just a bug, there's hope they may fix it when they roll out an update that fixes the HDR bug.
...if you're optimistic that'll happen, that is.
On the Netflix app, when I click the info button I no longer get the resolution info. I tried to uninstall the Netflix app but it does not let me. Has anybody had this info window disappear on them? Any advice?
I have a feeling my Netflix app isn't giving me 4k and I wanted to check.
White Balance:
Before adjusting anything here, be sure to set up Colour Tone (I recommend Warm2) and Colour Space (I recommend Auto)! For the adjustments, we need the test image from the beginning of the post on an USB-stick or something ( Edit: now in 4k: http://burosch.de/images/directdownload/06_Universaltestbild First-CheckUHD.jpg ). The goal is to remove any tint of grey and white shades that might have been introduced by our settings so far. And dont worry, you dont have to be an expert to get at least the most basic adjustments right.
- 2 Point:
This adjusts two ranges of brightness, the darker one (Offset) and the brighter one (Gain), separate for each color-channel red, green and blue. Start with the Gain-settings since they are more visible. Here, firstly focus on the Red and Blue-Gains, Green can have side-effects. I personally have just changed R-Gain and B-Gain for now, maybe I will put some more time into it in the future. So, load up the test image and adjust the R-Gain and then the B-Gain. The aim is a perfectly white background while keeping the skin tone of the women natural. A light warm touch in the whites is acceptable too. To get rid of a red cast it might be necessary to dial down the R-Gain or turning up the B-Gain, or a combination. Dont get carried away though but try values in the range of +/- 10, or 15 tops. I for example settled (at the moment) with the following values, the rest being 0:
- R-Gain: -5
- B-Gain: 7
But again: dont copy them but try to get it right for YOUR panel, it is worth it!
Damn that seems silly. Is there any way to verify the resolution of the image on the screen?Netflix updated their app and took away this functionalty for some reason. Nothing you can do.
So this is slightly off-topic, but I've just pulled the trigger on the UE55KS7000 (which I believe is the UK variant of this), and I want to pass through audio to my receiver, which only has a single HDMI and optical in. Does this TV pass through 5.1 on either of those?
Yes it will pass through Dolby or DTS 5.1.
Ideally I'd want it so that it doesn't recognize different sources from my receiver, and allow me to apply one setting to the hdmi input. Does anyone have any experiencing managing this?

Update: I turned off UHD HDMI Color on the port that I have my PC hooked into, and it hasn't done this since. Which kind of sucks since I'd like to have that turned on. I wonder why it'd lose signal with that turned on in regards to my PC.
Great, thanks.
Presumably not HDMI to optical 5.1 passthrough, though?
No problem. The TV can output 5.1 Dolby/dts from all sources either through optical or HDMI via ARC.
I find the optical passthrough to create quite a noticeable audio lag.
PS -> receiver optical is a better option in my case.
Seems YUV in ps4 settings gives 10 bit hdr at 60/4k where rgb on the same set up only gives 8 bit hdr? What is the deal with this
i am watching Sicario UHD blu-ray and i noticed in a daytime scene it just randomly dimmed to where it looked late afternoon then the pictured brightened back up when the people started moving.
Was it dimming the tv's UI as well? I had this, and then it seemed to just magically go away.I'm not talking about little dimming here and there i am watching Sicario UHD blu-ray and i noticed in a daytime scene it just randomly dimmed to where it looked late afternoon then the pictured brightened back up when the people started moving.
Anyone know how to fix colors blurring together during games? Sometimes my screen just turns into a blob of colors sometimes and the frame rate drops significantly for brief moments. I already have my tv in game mode so I dont know what I could do in the settings to fix it.
What about other 4k HDR TV's do we make a thread for each one?
In KS8000 HDR Game Mode news, mine changes automatically every time now to full backlight for HDR gaming, is that new?

Aaaand another person that notices this bug. What console and settings are you using? Also check out the last few pages as we are trying to get Samsung to fix the issue
With all due respect to aske, I've already proven that the right sharpness is 0. (Despite the fact that several experts have already stated this). I was able to see ringing in watch dogs 2 under 20. Either the test pattern he's using isn't good, or his eyes aren't good enough to spot ringing, he's in PC mode (in which case the right setting is 50), or he prefers a sharpened image. But you can see the proof in this vid where I'm flipping back and forth between 0 and 17 sharpness https://youtu.be/DhI5A2uf2PwThanks for your input, I've edited my original post with some information from you. I also updated the link to the test-image to one in UHD. I've tried to adjust sharpness using this image on an USB-Stick. Looking at the crosshair on the right I have trouble noticing any big difference when changing values. What exactly is meant by "ringing"? White outlines next to black lines for example? Is there a specific image you can recommend using when dealing with sharpness? Would be much appreciated!
Yeah Sicario had HDR. I don't think i have even seen a UHD in stores that don't have a HDR sticker on it and if it did i wouldn't bother buying it since most are just 2k transfers. I buy it specifically for the HDR advantages.Forgive my ignorance. Was the Sicario Blu-ray also in HDR? I've noticed a few instances of odd dimming on a few of the HDR demo videos.
The set will dim to maintain black levels in dark or mostly black scenes. But it seems that it will dim on extended bright scenes in HDR mode because while the set is capable of high peak brightness, it can only maintain that level for so long before dimming. At least that's what I've read. Not sure if that is what you are seeing.
I haven't noticed it dimming in anything but in Suicide Squad and Sicario UHD's Blu-rays. That HDR shit always pops up for me especially when you first laugh UHD blu-rays.Was it dimming the tv's UI as well? I had this, and then it seemed to just magically go away.
Just like "An HDR video is playing" notification that used to come up, but no longer does (even if the 'info' button confirms I'm watching an HDR video).
Which firmware are you on?
