Marvel: More console games are coming, announcements next year

I hope they make a good non fighting game. MVC is too niche for me.

I don't know if there's a hero like Batman in the marvel universe that has such a deep mythos that they could pull of a game like Arkham where it's focused just on that character and their world.

Marvel already revoked the Marvel license from Activision (X-Men license included). The only license they still have is the Spider-Man license, & that's because they originally signed that deal with Sony.

Okay, so that means Platinum CAN make the Spider-Man game they want then (as Activison owns the license, like you stated). Considering their relationship with Activision with Kora and Transformers alongside how their teams are mixed up:
-Bayonetta Team: Star Fox Zero and Project Guard
-Wonderful 101 Team: Scalebound
-Rising Team A: Transformers
-Rising Team B: Nier 2

I could see Rising Team A work on a Spider-Man project after work with Transformers. Its a game they want to make and it would be safe money for them (working with a huge IP).

Also, do we know if the Bayonetta 2 team is working on Project Guard?

What about Scalebound?
Edit: beaten

Well, Nintendo did state that Platinum is assisting with other Star Fox projects alongside making the single player campaign of Star Fox Zero (with Project Guard and a potential online mode being in the works too). So, if I heard things correctly, that is the case :).

And also consider that the Rising team is split in half and working on two new projects (Transformers and Nier 2), so due to Rising 2 being canned after the situation with 'Fuck Konami'.....they likely went to Activision and Square, and told them they were free for work, so due to a good relationship with the former thanks to prior work and the latter holding them with high regard, they got hired to make two more projects. Thus, Neir 2 and Transformers Devastation was born :).

What about Scalebound?

Damn it X(. Sorry to forget about that game weekev :(. My guess is that that team is the Wonderful 101 team making that.

Thank you for fixing that Neoxon :). Sorry for the mistake :(.
No problem, man. Us Platinum fans have to stick together.

That being said, I need MvC4 in my life. I don't care if Sony has to foot the bill for the license, I don't care if every single X-Men & Fantastic Four character has to be removed, I need MvC4 to happen sooner rather than later.

I really could see MvC4 happen and even if X-Men and FF characters are cut (don't think that will happen) but like you said, they can be 'replaced' with other Marvel characters that we never saw before in games and that alongside even more Marvel and Capcom characters, we could be in for a killer game :D!

I would love for a developer to make a Ironman/War machine game but sadly developers have a hard time making characters fly in game, which is one of the weirdest things about games.

I know this might be a weird paring, but the SAO: Lost Song developers are very skilled with mixing flying and ground combat for a number of games. Here is some gameplay clips of a few of the games they worked on in the past, as I feel they could be great developers for a fun Iron Man game :).
Macross 30
SAO: Lost Song

And here is information on the wikipedia page of the developer I'm talking about, ArtDink :).

A platinum, deadpool, wolverine, sabertooth, x-23 game would be nice

Sadly, Marvel won't let this happen. I could see Platinum doing a Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Panther, or Blade game instead. Hell, I'd be down for a Maximoff Twins game where you could switch between Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch on the fly. Pietro would be more about fast, up-close combos with the ability to switch between targets on the fly (see Batman in Arkham Knight, except faster). Wanda could take care of the ranged attacks & fancy tricks (Ex: Levitating an enemy & using them as a battering ram).

Marvel needs to step up Batman has had three good games recently and there hasn't been much noteworthy Marvel games. I guess Marvel vs C3 and Spider-Man Web of Shadows was okay, but I want better than ok.
MvC is better and more culturally important than Arkham games. UMvC will be played in tournaments after Arkham Knight is forgotten. Gaming terms like "salty" were coined during the Mahvel2 FGC days.

This, this is why MvC4 needs to happen sooner rather than later. MvC is the hype that flows through the FGC's veins, & we're overdue for our next injection.

Another MvC will reinvigorate the FGC for me. I used to follow all tournaments of all games at FG majors when I was a Mahvel fiend, and I would stay up for hours early morning (Dubai) to watch WNF/NLBC Mahvel.

FGC hype died down for me as Mahvel numbers went down, and even though I'm in the USA now, I almost only play Dota 2 and watch Dota 2 tournaments.

Do it Marvel.

Capcom needs to get the funds to renew the Marvel license. So either Street Fighter V sells like hotcakes & Capcom gets the cash needed to renew the license or Sony steps in to foot the licensing bill.

Marvel 4 being revealed will make my whole year. I would also love a MUA3 as well. The poster that said a Spidey game made by Platinum gets my vote as well. But Marvel 4 is the top game that I want to see revealed.

I'm totally down for another Ultimate Alliance. I've been itching to play a Marvel Game for a long time and the MCU have really been making it hard. Something in the same vein as THQ's Avengers game would be cool, but I doubt something like that would make for a good game now.

Edit: Fixed link for less Françoise Hardy, more Avengers.

I agree, though the only way that it's going to happen at this point, is if Sony themselves "pull a SF V timed exclusivity" & pay Marvel &/or Capcom just for MvC 4 to exist.

Capcom doesn't even have the proper funds to even make fighting games themselves, which is why Ono had to run to Sony for the funding of SF V.

That's a common misconception. Street Fighter V would have happened eventually, Sony just sped up the process. Had Sony not stepped in, Street Fighter V would have not been scheduled for release until 2018.

Transformers was originally under Marvel for the 100 issue 4-part miniseries...
Specifically during the G1 days....

And the new Transformers game is G1. With Platinum.

So... that KINDA counts, right?

I agree, though we would've seen a lot of DLC, Microtransactions, among other shit had Capcom released SF V in 2018 without Sony stepping in.

As a matter of fact, I don't think that they would survive for that long with the limited amount of money that they have.

I'm not entirely sure how that would feel. It sounds ok in theory, but there are IPS better suited for Musou.

I dunno, Marvel makes perfect sense for the genre.

  1. Hordes of enemies
  2. iconic locations
  3. generals to face throughout each stage that you can unlock as playable

1= Skrulls, Ultron robots, Giant Sentinels if you want Hyrule Warriors style large monsters, Kree, Shi Ar, Phalanx, Mud men from FF, Hydra, Hand Ninjas, AIM goons, etc...there are tons of grunts to be used as the horde for folks to take out.
2=New York City Streets, K'un Lun, X Mansion, Magneto's Asteroid M, Wakanda, The Savage Land, Negative Zone, etc...tons of locations
3=Name any character in Marvel...perfect playable general.

It seriously works for over the top movesets as well as fighting enemy hordes and super teams of heroes and villains. If you want hero vs hero just say its Mystique or a skrull shapeshifter and be done with it.

Edited to fit Modern Marvel's agenda.

This isn't the 90's anymore. Nobody at Marvel outside of Marvel's comic book division gives a shit about the X-Men or the Fantastic Four (who mainly cancelled the F4 & lessened the X-Men comic book count out of the lack of sales on their part). It's unfortunate, but they made that fact clear when they revoked the licenses for the two franchises from numerous developers & vendors.

To everybody that says they want a new Marvel Ultimate Alliance - would a console port of Marvel Heroes suffice?

It's basically the same thing, right?
(Legit asking, don't kill me please)

I'd be down for that if they give us all of the characters from the start. No microtransactions.
