I have to ask again, why do people think the double pack is only being counted as a single copy? If it were being counted as 2, then it'd put the MC sales in line with Famitsu (MC: 103,421 (with 11,025 double packs); Famitsu: 105,863).

If MC count games packaged with systems as seperate sales, would they really count 2 copies packaged together as a single unit? I don't buy it.
We don't know for sure. I sent an e-mail to Media Create. Let's see if they answer.

Personally, I think it is weird if they are doing it x2 already, but who knows. As others have said, the difference between Famitsu and MC doesn't imply anything (for what is worth, Dengeki is in the middle of the two, with 109k, but I can't post the top 20 right now).

Also as a random aside, Sword Art Online Infinity Moment is completely sold out in my city. I'll be heading into Nagasaki tomorrow to check things out there as well, but word on the street seems to be that it's selling really well.
Sellthrough blog is saying the first shipment is basically sold-out, yeah.

I should imagine that 2 people wanting to play SS split the costs of the double pack between themselves. Reselling something clearly not meant for resale would be a risky business.

I just find such pie-in-the-sky 'obvious' conclusions hilarious in a thread where we're constantly reminded that it's about cold, hard numbers.
Maybe you should read the post you quoted completely instead of ignoring the second part of my post, I wrote that peoplecould have bought the double pack to resell it or to share it with someone else. Also "some" isn´t exactly a word to describe the majority, or is it? Really sad that you just ignore a part of a post just because you are really happy trigger with your ad hominem attacks.

I don't take issue with the second part, just the part I bolded. I find the notion that any sort of significant number would buy a double pack just to turn around and resell one copy ridiculous.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

EDF double pack was obviously not counted as a 2x sales because it was an odd number

09./00. [PSV] Earth Defense Force 3 Portable - Double-enlistment Pack <ACT> (D3 Publisher) {2012.09.27} (¥7.329) - 14.827 / NEW

Not sure why they would change that for SS but who knows.

Famitsu and Media Create does report noticeable differences sometimes. For example, recently Media Create reported Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance at 308.681 while Famitsu reported 335.791 (a higher number could means a higher chance for bigger differences though, but the difference is still 27k, a noticeable number in my opinion).

I'd be surprised if any trackers counts a double pack as two copies since it is on SKU with one barcode being scanned. But i see that Road has sent a mail to Media Create, so we'll see what they reply :)

Yeah, i see now that Media Create has EDF 3 Portable at 27.779 while Famitsu has it at 29.875 (both numbers includes the double pack).

When did "some" describe a significant number. Now you just sound desperate. But rest assured ignoring the second part of a sentence just to have a fabricated excuse for ad hominem attacks was ridiculous enough.

EDF PSP Dual Pack was also not reported as a single SKU. Things change.

Level 5 announced that Yokai (?) Watch will be released this summer on 3DS. Good for them to get it out before Nintendo drop the Pokebomb in October.
Not sure if it's better to release it around MH4 either. I have a feeling Level 5 would end up releasing it the week before or after MH4.

I'm not. He asked a question, I honestly answered.

It's very clear that the mods allow it, I can tell from the post history. However it's a behaviour I don't see often here. That's why it confuses me.
you could have asked nicely instead of attacking him.

Wasnt the sold out talk only about some stores? And also at Amazon for a shorter period of time after its launch.
The problem is that many people tried to convince themselves and the others that the small sample composed of store X, website Y and preorders from chain Z were quite representative of the overall situation. As it has been showed, this is not true.

I guess I just don't understand why you'd even bring it up. As for 'ad hominem', I don't think it's too outlandish to suggest your posting this week has been a little 'fraught'. You have the most posts in this thread and the majority of them have been concentrated on trying to find ways to downplay the SS sales. It does seem as though your cage is somewhat rattled.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.

You knew the answer before you finished typing. Its probably best the Vita's sales success is short lived for the sake of his mental health.

Do you mean that the double pack of EDF 2 PSP was tracked the double? That Media Create for example showed that it sold 30k copies, but only 15k boxes were sold in store?

Or do you mean that the double pack was not shown as a own SKU, that Media Create and Famitsu only showed one number for EDF 2 PSP, which accounted for both the standard SKU and the double pack SKU?

The problem is that many people tried to convince themselves and the others that the small sample composed of store X, website Y and preorders from chain Z were quite representative of the overall situation. As it has been showed, this is not true.
I see. Was it really many people who said this though? Personally i only saw that someone mentioned that it was sold out in a few stores, i didnt see anyone claim that it was the case for Japan overall. But i didnt read all posts, so maybe i missed some of them. That is why i asked :)

It´s just ridiculous and also pathetic to ignore the second part of a sentence and change the meaning of words ("some" became "significant number") just because you want an excuse to troll other users.

Really you should care for yourselves first. I think it isn´t that outlandish to suggest that 130k units aren´t exactly an amazing result. I already said that the sales aren´t bad for the circumstances. But obviously this didn´t save me from the fanboy rage from fanboys that felt hurt anyway by my honest opinion. Sorry, even Bravely Default sold more and it even suffered from shortages, so excuse me if I´m not impressed by some decent sales.

M-C is not counting the double pack as double the copies. Seriously people, think.

10./00. [PSV] Soul Sacrifice: "United Front" Double Pack <ACT> (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2013.03.07} (¥7.980) - 22.050 / NEW

The United Front Double Pack SKU, the one with a ¥7.980 price tag, sold 22.050 copies.

If they were multiplying by 2 they would be given false numbers because that's not what this SKU really sold.

Definetly Sword Art Online was nowhere to be seen in my area. But the game wasn't covered too much in the Tsutaya stores. They only had a few copies.
Super Robot Taisen and Kingdom Hearts were in the best locations with a lot of stock.

Guys, anecdotal evidence is just that. Take it for what it is.

Remember that guy from that store that said Vita had increased 1.5 times from the previous week?? Exactly.

First day sellthrough

Super Robot Wars - 50-60%
Sword Art Online - sold out
Kingdom Hearts - 50%
God of War - no one cares
Darkstalkers (PS3 version) - 50-60%
Wonder what kind of shipment it had.

Oh and SRW seems to be doing okay.

According to other retailer blogs SRT UX is selling more in par the Nintendo DS entries than last year PSP entry (less than a half). But still nice sellthrough.

Well, it's an entry that follows the basis of other Nintendo handhelds' SRW titles (strange roster, strange stories, not as full featured as the main titles), so it shouldn't be such a big surprise.

Yeah it's not bad, but I was expecting an improvement like Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey or Rune Factory but it won't happen.

All these titles stepped their game up presentation wise on the 3DS - SRT UX looks pretty much like the DS titles from what i`ve seen so far. But who knows how the life time sales will look.

Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey and Rune Factory were all main entries in the series, while SRT isn't. I think this is the biggest difference. Let's see if there's even just a light improvement compared to other DS titles, though.

For reference:

[NDS] Super Robot Wars W (Banpresto) - 172.190 / 278.027 / 61,93% 01/03/07
[NDS] Super Robot Wars K (Bandai Namco) - 131.638 / 213.454 / 61,67% 20/03/09
[NDS] Super Robot Wars L (Bandai Namco) 129.054 / 161.387 / 79,97% 25/11/10

The PSP SRT game was the latest entry in the current mainline series (the Z series) while SRT UX is more along the lines of a standalone game like SRTW and SRTL of the DS line. The gap in perception and the gap in the budget is noticeable.

Yeah, Kagari was the other GAFfer I was referring to. I was just reluctant to call out a mod.

During the run-up to TGS 2011, she also made a handful of posts hyping up her insider knowledge of a Final Fantasy game for Vita as though it were a major exclusive that would go a long way towards erasing doubts about the platform's third-party support. Oops!

Kagari has a rather colorful history regarding Final Fantasy news, doesn't she?

Although I suppose for this particular tidbit it's not too bad considering this was before we knew about Vita's current status. It would look good in isolation.

From the sounds of it, that people who are happy about the result and disagree with him are fanboys?

I dunno. Im just gonna let him get on with it to be honest. What ever helps the days go by.

I must have hurt some feelings because I didn´t celebrate mediocre numbers. I´m so sorry. SS was an interesting release that was supposed to do something more than decent due to how it was hyped since last year, that´s why I made some comments about it. It surely can´t be my fault that some fanboys can´t handle an honest opinion.

Look just stop calling people fanboys for not having the same opinion as you. You are allowed to have your opinion and others are allowed to have theirs.

You feel that these numbers arn't great

Others feel that in its pretty good considering the situation and could lead to more sales down the line.

Neither is proven.

Also just calling people who disagree with you fanboys will just make people dismiss you even more.

I dont think he was trolling you. Its just the way you stated that question. If you include the whole sentence you basically said

I think some of the people that bought the 2 pack sold the second copy (either to a stranger or a friend).

I mean..... I would say basically everyone did that. No one bought the double pack and kept 2 copies. The way you worded it sounded like you were implying people bought the double pack then traded in the second copy to the shop straight away. I know thats not what you meant but it could easily be taken that way.

But what ever. Its all a bit crazy up in this bitch this week.

This is getting beyond stupid now. You can make any excuse you want but at least in my vocabulary "some" doesn´t mean " significant number" and a quick look at your post history reveals why you seem so emotionaly invested when people openly say that they aren´t impressed by SSs sales performance.
