Pretty sure Kojima flat out lied when he said it was running on a PC spec'd to the PS3. I thought everyone agreed on that.
I do think he was exaggerating, yeah. But he did say that.Pretty sure Kojima flat out lied when he said it was running on a PC spec'd to the PS3. I thought everyone agreed on that.
I can confirm that they said it was running on a "current gen-like" spec PC. No translation error there.
Most likely on a current-gen console or a PC locked at current-gen specs. That trailer looks like the Ground Zeroes trailer which was confirmed to be running on a PC with roughly the same specs as a PS3. People don't want to believe that for some fucking reason.

No chance. I've seen a couple of these new MGS trailers now. 2 looked next gen, 1 looked current gen. This one looked next gen. Must be running on a higher spec PC, or something closer to the equivalent of a PS4/XO. No way it's a PS3 spec'd variant. Textures, level of AA and AF etc.
But what else are we supposed to buy a next gen console for?

Or its a translation error.
Translating Japanese to English is far from easy and can leave room for some guessing.
If the gameplay I saw in that trailer is the exact same as what we will see in current gen, I will come back to this thread and eat crow.
But I already know its literally impossible because of the 1080p, open world, real-time shadows. That is not current-gen.
Just curious but where are you getting 1080p from? Of course a current gen one wouldn't be that, but I kinda toss perceiving resolution out the window watching compressed videos.Or its a translation error.

Can you please tell me which one looked current-gen? Because in my opinion they all looked the same.
Again, it's not a translation error.Or its a translation error.
I seriously doubt it will be, indeed. If the gameplay I saw in that trailer is the exact same as what we will see in current gen, I will come back to this thread and eat crow.

This one.

Textures, resolution, level of detail, draw distance, amount of aliasing, AF etc. Just looks closer to current gen compared to this new trailer.
I could agree on that.
I noticed less detailed textures, aliasing everywhere, and a linear environment.
I totally forgot about this trailer. I remember being blown away by the Ground Zeroes and the trailer we saw yesterday.
So this was when Kojima was referring to the PC spec'd at current gen.
PEACE WALKER 100% MEGA SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Perhaps
(Potential story context synopsis)
Big Boss is sent out to rescue Chico, and Paz. He gets to Camp Omega, infiltrates the base, gets to Chico. Chico reveals that he gave Skull Face details about Mother Base (earning the cassette player, playing the traitor) , and Big Boss loses his shit, and begins to choke him. Boss recognizes that decorated war hero's don't CQC children to death, and relents. He rescues Chico and further infiltrates, rescuing Paz. Boss brings her and Chico back to Mother Base, where Paz begins to convulse. They try to operate and find the 'Peace' package, which is followed by an attack on Mother Base by Skull Face. Mother Base's occupants are killed, and Mother Base falls into the ocean. Kaz and Big Boss escape in a helicopter, with Big Boss distraught at the carnage. Perhaps the helicopter is shot down, but events occur that leave Big Boss in a coma. He wakes up after 9 years, and 'Ishmael' (a projection of his mind) leads him outside of the complex. Ocelot helps Big Boss escape when he crashes an ambulance, and after a period of time takes him to Afghanistan where Kaz is held captive. Kaz has, perhaps, been interrogated for the entirety of those 9 years, loosing limbs in the process. Big Boss rescues Kaz, and along with Ocelot they exact revenge of Cipher.
I could agree on that.

yea? well many scenes from that trailer were featured in the E3 trailer which you are claiming to be next-gen..that's a contradiction unless Kojima mixed current-gen and next-gen footage together.

It's on all the platforms. Doesn't matter if it shows the same scene. Obviously the same game is going to look and/or run worse on the current gen systems compared to the next gen versions. Why would they show a current gen version of the game at the XO's conference anyway? Doesn't make sense.

Because the damn engine was not yet ready for next-gen consoles and that they were working on it as they were developing Ground Zeroes long before announcing The Phantom Pain. That Ground Zeroes trailer was running on a PC with PS3 specs. Please read watch Kojima's interviews. He clearly stated that. He has no reason to lie about it. He said, that the GDC trailer was running on a PC and that the PS3 version would look very close to it and that it won't be 100% exactly the same but that's good enough.
So you are saying that the GDC trailer looked current-gen is that it?This is not the GDC trailer. This is a new E3 trailer. I am almost certain this is running on a higher spec PC, or should I say, a PC that isn't down specced to that of a PS3. Or correcting myself still, the same game but at higher settings to mimic what they think the next gen versions will look like.
Like I said earlier just a few posts up, the previous trailer visibly looks inferior to this new trailer in many ways. It's like a PC game running medium settings at 720p or less with little AA/AF versus the same game running at high settings at 1080p with higher AA/AF.
So you are saying that the GDC trailer looked current-gen is that it?

They never said it was running on Xbox One. They said it was coming on X1.
That's not next-gen.
Yes. That the GDC trailer looked current gen. That this new trailer looks next gen.
I only asked if anyone knew what this new trailer was running on. My guess is a similar PC, just at higher specs (not down specced) or settings.
I could agree on that.

So that part was current-gen right? Cause I think it's pretty fucking impressive and if they can achieve that on a current-gen console, they can pretty much do the E3 trailer on a current-gen console because it didn't look that different to me.
They've been saying that since Ground Zeroes reveal.
Hideo Kojima has unveiled a brand new Metal Gear Solid game at a Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary Event in Tokyo. The game is subtitled: Ground Zeroes and was demoed running on a high-end PC running Konami's next-gen 'Fox Engine'.
No, Ground Zeroes was always running on a high-end PC.
Numerous sources, but here is one.

The first Phantom Pain trailer was the one that was running on a PC spec'd at current gen.
I know people in their thirties that look like they're ready to die, meanwhile Sakurai is pulling a Benjamin Button. People age differently, and I think your perception might be skewed because Ocelot's rockin' a full mane of grey.how the fuck does ocelot look older than snake in 1984 inspite of the fact that he's 9 years younger

Best e3 trailer. Scratch that, best trailer ever. PERIOD.
Not really. The cheesy song takes a lot away from it. I much prefer the 15 minute E3 '06 epic. But this looked great. Can't wait.
