What is wrong with my top soldiers I have fultoned. I had some A and A+ guys but they disappeard from my motherbase. At first they were in the waiting room after a couple of hours they were gone.

And no they were not in any other section. Seems they dissapear if there is no room at my Motherbase

A guy invaded me and when I go to retaliate his name is blacked out. Anyone know what's up? Dude took 60,000 materials and I'd like to get them back.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

They couldn't take Troy bakers voice and got out when you weren't looking.

Having played through GZ last week for all trophies, I can sympathize here. Only 7 missions in myself and nothing I've seen in TPP has really matched the feel of infiltrating that GZ base. The ramshackle houses and tiny outposts just don't compare so far. It's unfair given the scale difference, and a few major locations have been alright, but that GZ base was incredibly designed for such a small space.

I am starting to question the necessity of the open world much at all, over having bite-sized and well tuned environments as in GZ. Especially considering you choose missions from a menu rather than discovery, and very few even take advantage of the open space as I have seen. Many improvements were made in the time between GZ and TPP, but no mission yet has engaged me in a way that GZ has, especially doing S-rank runs.

I don't have the game in front of me at the moment so I can only be very vague. I felt the same until I had a certain side op.

On the way to the op I triggered a main mission which took me a day and a half in game time to beat the area was pretty small.

Afterwards I went to the op and that wasn't the size of ground zeroes but it had the same feeling. Nooks and crannys everywhere but when you first get there you have no idea where to start. Luckily a dust storm formed and that helped me begin.

Little did I know that by beating the sideop leads you into another main mission where you have to get back out of the base (fully manned again) and go an infiltrate a base that was the same size as GZ. Th soldiers were more advanced and with what was going on there, and how I managed gave me similar feelings to GZ.

I just got to mission 20 and that type of GZ feeling has only happened a few times, but I personally don't need it every mission.

Am I the only one that absolutely dreads having to even interact with the stupid Skulls? I'm currently on the mission where you first meet (spoiler mission 12 or so)
Emmerich
and just thinking that because
Skull Face was also there, I might have to fight them
. Someone, without giving spoiling much, could tell how much do the stupid skulls show up during the game? A very general number would be enough.

Yeah I feel the same. I would've much preferred a long corridor like in past MGS games, but a corridor the same width as Ground Zeroes. Perfection.

I went to the FOB base screen to see what they cost and stuff, with no plans to mess with it yet, and somehow got locked into the menus unable to do anything until I bought a FOB. I even tried closing the game and coming back, no dice, have to buy a FOB.

So I bought the FOB. Now a bit later it's forcing me to do rival tutorial mission or something. FORCING me. I can't just not do it now or wait until later or whatever. It's forcing me to do some shit I don't have any interest in doing.

REALLY angry at this game now. I don't like being fucked with.

Finally found the Snake Eater tape, game instantly gets even better. As good as the licensed 80's choices are, nothing beats that theme.

I feel like I'm way behind already somehow. Missions 8 and 9 don't seem doable (or at least, much much harder) without a rocket launcher, but I haven't been able to develop one yet -- R&D level needs to be 12 and mine's only 7 (and even if I reassign people to the max amount that R&D is allowed, it only goes up to level 9 or 10). If the game is recommending a rocket launcher already, and my R&D level is way below what it needs to be to even get one, am I already much further behind than I should be?

Is that the one with the tanks? You can use C4.

I was able to do it by placing C-4 and throwing a couple grenades! :)

Towards the endgame now, can't seem to get a high success probability on Outer Ops/Combat Deployment at all, to the point where it's always around 50% despite having tons of high-rank soldiers. Haven't been able to do an 'important' one in days. Am I missing something here? Or are you just expected to take massive risks, despite having tons of decent guys and
battle gear?

Yeah, so weird and awkward.

I really hope they patch in the ability to rewatch some cutscenes, not that there were many.

I haven't done Mission 8/9 yet but if C4 or grenades would work, then you can develop a Grenade Launcher pretty early on.

I do have a grenade launcher, and actually probably could've cleared mission 9 with it if I hadn't taken a wrong turn and got mowed down by a group of soldiers stationed in the middle of nowhere. :lol But anytime I used it on the tanks in 8, I was immediately blown to pieces.

I did just develop C4 though, so I'll take another crack at mission 8 with that.

WHOA-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH

Can't beat mission 16 -
Damn Skulls are total damage sponges and they wear me down. I can't steal the truck and drive away in time, I can't hit them when I jump into a tank, Quiet can't do proper damage to them, and I just wander around trying to hit them with a single Launcher, which doesn't do much damage anyway. so frustrating.

Miscellaneous spoiler

So,
yesterday was my birthday. I get a call saying there is an emergency at base and I need to come back asap. When I get back there is nobody around and you just start hearing gunshots. Then everyone comes out singing happy birthday and with a cake. It made me laugh.

Are the combat deployment missions just replenishing indefinitely? They don't seem to have the same progression of the outer ops in Peace Walker.

There should be a limited amount of the ones marked with yellow dot (first one in the list).

Other ones, yeah I guess.

How I did it:
Lead them away from the truck and send an artillery strike on them.

Here's a video of me doing that mission.

So it seems like your FOB can be invaded by rivals even while you aren't playing / are in offline mode?

I signed on today and was informed my FOB was raided at a time that I wasn't even playing. Made off with lots of resources and staff, had security settings as high as I could get them.

Would have thought you would only show up on the server browser for other players to see while you actually have a chance to defend yourself.

A question regarding a location that was showed off in one of the gameplay videos (E3 2014 I THINK)

is that cool looking villa even in the game?!

When does this trigger? I beat the game (true ending) and never saw this scene (the burned village)...

here's my method for dealing with escorted transports. It's worked twice now.

You can use anything really - jeep in the road, sleeping enemy soldier, smoke grenades, decoys. Once they stop, detonate all the C4 and then do what you need to do with the transport.

You probably won't get the spacing down the first try, but if you force the convoy to stop once or twice and just observe how far apart they are it's not that hard. Especially with upgraded C4. I can Fulton tanks now but this is so much cooler dammit.

Does anyone else hate how they show the credits during the mission intro? It spoils who's going to show up. I like a little surprise. That's one my few knocks on this game. Maybe there's a way to disable that but I don't like it.

I swear Quiet only helps after I get caught! She stays in one stop and when I call her she never comes what the hell.

The main thing with Quiet is to be cognizant of which enemies she has a shot at from which vantage point. The spot you send her to Scout might not be an effective spot for her to Attack from -- in which case she'll just sit there and hum until you're really in trouble.

If you zoom in on an enemy and the "kill target/fire" option in the quick menu is grayed out, Quiet doesn't have a shot at those enemies and will need to be moved. When posted at a clear vantage point the Attack command(in buddy support) will prompt her to freely take down all enemies visible to her, or, alternatively, you can call her shots manually. Once you unlock the "cover me" command she'll switch vantage points at will to take down enemies closest to Snake until ordered to "cease fire".

Knowing when and where to move Quiet and giving her constant direction based on enemy movement and positioning is key to getting the most out of her.

What the hell? I always turn off my Internet connection before launching the game. So, can they still invade and take my stuff? I would never know since I never logon to get the message I've been invaded. This sucks.
