Better make it a good one since we’re getting rumours of AAA titles being 4K and 90FPS. Or GT aiming for 4K, 120FPS and Ray-Tracing.
I hear this shit before every gen, including the last one. We saw how that turned out. PD talks all sorts of baloney before every new game comes out. It's all marketing hype.

First party devs can do some magic, but thats not going to happen. Not at $400-500 hardware. Everygen people get over hyped and set themselves up for dissapointment.

Like the poster above said PC gaming is about what you want to make of it and not being stuck to a static hardware. PS5 and XsX I'm sure are going decent machines, but you don't need to pay an arm and a leg for a better than console experience. We have hardware today that's already supieror and it will only get cheaper from here on out.
So let's say we want to compare the performance of an Xbox One X to a PC not even next gen. I'm not in the U.S. so no idea what the cost of that console is at the moment, let's say its $400 USD. You're telling me that right now, someone can build a PC which is of equivalent performance of the X for that same amount? Yeah I call bullshit on that one.

Also static hardware does not need to be upgraded like PC does, most games are made and optimised for console. If you have the money great, build/buy a PC but that's not the world and reality that most people live in. Console has allowed gaming to become more mainstream and accessible. Some of the greatest games were created because of consoles.

Do it.

This generation I built my first PC. I have been playing my PS4 but not so much. I only used it for games like Bloodborne, Persona, Horizon, etc. Currently playing RDR2 because the PC version is a mess.

Going into next gen, usually I'd buy a new console asap but this time I'm waiting for a few games on PS5 that I can't play on PC. If that happens day or 3 years down the line then whatever.

This year the money I was going to use to buy a console + TV will instead go to PC. I recently bought a 1440p 144hz monitor in place of a new TV and instead of a new console I'm gonna get a new GPU.

PC really is a great platform. If you prefer playing on a big screen with a controller you can. If you want to sit close and use a kB/m you can. You can mod games. You have complete control over games. You want 1080/1440/2160p? You got it. 30/60/120/144/240hz(FPS)....if your pc is powerful enough you got it. You can play at 720p 30fps or 4k 144hz. It's up to you!!

There is so more you can do on PC but I ain't got all day.

Just build a pc :) it's the right thing to do if you are serious about games.

The point about PCs is that it really doesn’t matter what the next guy is running, you spend what you want to get the experience you want. You’re not at the mercy of the devs and manufacturers who have different and conflicting goals (manufacturers have to keep price down, devs often focus on graphics over frame rate to sell games). I don’t know what sub par PC means in this context.

I don’t know what the next gen of consoles will do, I’m sure they will be decent machines, but I also don’t know what PC hardware will look like at year end, and how they will compare.
Well your first statement is confusing because you just said you spend what you want to get the experience you want, but If your budget is tight, you aren't going to be getting an experience better than console so being at the mercy of devs is irrelevant because in that situation you are getting better on the console than on your budget PC. The X puts out Dynamic 4K 60fps on some games now and how old is that hardware tech? Ancient!

There are 2 options when it comes to getting the best experience you can, buy a console or spend a considerable amount more on a PC. If you are on a tight budget, PC is not a good option at all!

You are right in everything you say, PC's are great except that some people don't like that much control or options. Some people are simply not into modding or tweaking game settings. If it's something you like than great, but a lot of people like you that love it struggle to understand why people don't. This is where i see a lot of debate between console and PC.

To some people it's not even money, it's just personal preference to not want to be bothered with too many options in games. I have a gaming PC but I play my consoles more because I'm sick of all the mess associated with PC games, I have OCD so the thought of having to tweak the game to run optimal drives me crazy, I end up spending more time in settings than playing and then I'm never happy. Having that taken away from me is a blessing in disguise on console. I forget about that stuff and just play basically.

For the exact same price? Maybe not as we don't have the benefit to buying parts in bulk like MS. But this budget build from a year ago outperforms the xbox one x in games. Keep in mind too we don't need an online subscription to play multiplayer and games are much cheaper go on discount much faster than console platforms.

As time goes on hardware that is superior will only get cheaper and will always be superior.

How is it clutching at straws? It's a supieror experience. It's even Ray Tracing capable too which the Xbox one x can not do at all.

The issue with videos like thia is that you’re comparing a $300-$500 video card against a $350-$500 console.

The console is all you need to play games whereas you’ll need to stack on $200-$400 worth of extra hardware on top of the video card to get a functional PC.

Nobody is denying that PC gaming offers higher fidelity but it’s almost always a higher cost of hardware if you’re trying to make something comparable.

This dude built his PC for $500 which is not significantly more expensive than the Xbox One X. The point is it's possible to have a superior experience without breaking the bank at all. Would i personally do it? No because gaming is my number one hobby and i have the disposable income to splurge on a premium experience.

But you don't have to and that's the beauty of PC gaming. Options and only your budget will limit you.

As a primarily PC gamer and mostly for older games/preservation/emulation etc these days...

There is nothing to gain from throwing in the towel now. The good old days of PC gaming having its exclusive set of releases that make it worth going out and buying a pc for ended back in the early 2000's. Escape from Tarkov, Crysis 1, Metro 1/2 and hopefully soon, Star Citizen have been the only real PC games that I felt were worth having a high end pc to play them on in the last...almost ten years. Im excluding mods and indie here, but lets face it, you're not getting into pc gaming to buy the latest spiritual successor to Quake or Doom released in early access on Steam.

I spend a lot if time with emulation, none of the emulators out there for last gen consoles are going to be stable and providing a setup and run experience for atleast another year and that is dependent on the game. For a one build for all of that last gen consoles games...another two years, even with the fast progress theyve made.

In terms of playing exclusives:

The only way to play Zombie U as it was intended (and worth it if you can spare the money to get the game/console), is on a WiiU and its easily one of the best zombie and gaming experience out there. The game does not work on Cemu, wont for some time and it will never recreate the wiiU pad experience so integral to the game.

RPCS3/Xenia/Dolphin/PCSX2/EPSXE. So you got a build for that one game you remember being good and its running at 60fps 4k. How many times you plan on playing its SP campaign?

I could go on, but Im hungry.

What’s it like being disgustingly wealthy? Pretty cool I bet.
This is gaming we're talking about. If you cant afford it, dont go around belittling people who can.

Well I hate to burst your bubble, but 1st or 3rd party it's simply not going to happen unless it's some indie game. Even my 2080 Super has to make sacrifices for that to happen in current gen games.

Sony and MS can't magically turn a rx 5700 xt into a super beast. I have nothing against consoles, but set your expectations to something realistic.

Your 2080 can’t do it yet because it’s brute forcing old tech and the 5700 doesn’t support RT. But hey, believe what you want to believe.

Not everyone have that kind of money to buy all the consoles and buy/build PC to play everything.
What’s it like being disgustingly wealthy? Pretty cool I bet.
No one said you had to buy everything all at once. However, I don't know where this idea that gaming was supposed to be a relatively cheap hobby comes from. If you really are going to spend years devoted to this, you should be seriously putting money into it. This whole fanboy/company worship nonsense needs to go. The focus needs to be on the games themselves.

For example, the thought process should simply be "Oh! Dreams is coming out. This looks cool and the reviews are good. I want to play it!" And not, "Oh! Dreams is coming out. I hope it'll eventually come to my console. I wish it wasn't exclusive. I hope it'll eventually be on sale." Etc.

You're better than this.

Until something about your hardware setup or driver configuration causes it to all come crumbling down. There's always one thing or another that just isn't right or quite perfect when it comes to PCs. I remember when I first encountered the Z-fighting in Skyrim. What a nasty little surprise that was as I was tromping across that dull brown marshscape. I'm not anti-PC. I build my own ever so often. Still there are benefits to just gaming on a $400 box and accepting that we're all getting basically the same packaged experience free of troubleshooting.
Yes everything comes crumbling down on PC when a driver isn't configured correctly. And Skyrim was a joy to play on consoles.

If you don't plan on playing multiplayer games then go for it OP, otherwise stick with consoles, cheating is beyond rampant on PC.

I'm ready to say fukk it and go PC.

Sony putting exclusives on there next gen, Microsoft already putting all there exclusives and gamepass on PC, Pretty much every third party game drops on PC.
There are two Switch emulators in the works.
Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U emulators are playable now
You can run android for your mobile gaming needs if you want to.
All the emulators for all the classic consoles make it a true king in the backwards compatibility department.
Most games are going cross play for multiplayer so you don't even need to pay monthly for online.
Steam deals are sometimes cheaper than console.
You can play the three gamepads from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

With the Master Race you can never loss and are pretty much covered in every aspect.
You do realize that emulators & its use is illigal if you don't own the originals.
Also, no trophies = no joy in life.

The only games on PC I really want to play are Jagged Alliance 2, C&C Generals and Homeworld Remastered.... all of which should run on my laptop.

As for PC master-race, this is what I think of that:

PlayStation is a better overall experience and you getfar more gaming done on a console. Especially with PS5 and the ultra fast loading and standardization of certain new features.

I do understand that many have or will become annoyed or whatever about exclusives going to PC.... that is some bullshit. It needs to stop but I don't think you'll see many of the premier titles going to PC.

PC gamers are the whiniest saltiest lot in the gaming community. They also downplay any issues the pc has. Hackers being one in games is getting out of hand and ruins the experience. Another is frame pacing on a lot of games. It produces micro stutter which was a massive issue with the 10 series. I had nothing but issues as a PC gamer and switched to console. Didn’t want to be a part of the cope community either.

Sure, but don't complain if the console isn't as powerful as you want or not enough games run at 60fps or whatever. With consoles, you're always playing on the terms set by the manufacturer.
Are you sure about that? Remember Batman Arkham Knight? You're always at the mercy of devs, no matter what you think. Optimizations matter a lot.

And like someone else said, you guys assume PC gaming means automatically more powerful. Always pushing 'PC Master Race'. Always replying with 'Get a PC if you want power' like people can afford spending 1000's that simple.

For what we get in consoles for the price is great, in addition to all the optimizations, simplicity and convenience of gaming on them.

When we ask for 60fps, we don't mean 4k60. We mean give us the option for a locked 60fps with lower res and we'd take that. Others don't care and prefer res over framerate. But hey, with these next consoles we might get 4k60 after all. We're not after 8k240fps whatever PC Master Race is after.

PC gaming is cheaper on account of game prices, and most price-conscious PC gamers, swap parts out individually, instead of outright buying the whole PC+monitor all over again when an upgrade is necessary.
It ends up costing the about the same or less, and gives a superior experience in the long run.

The only reason to get a console is to play some exclusive which is unlikely to come out on PC. There are very few of those.
Or if you're a simpleton or don't want to deal with anything that PC gaming entails.

The price isn't really the barrier if you have your wits about you.

Oh console gamers are dumb 😂 This is the superiority complex I regularly see from PC gamers. And why they can be just as intolerable as SJWs.

Whenever I hear them saying its cheaper I just know they pirate their games lol. Ooh but emulators. Please, the emulation scene is way behind. And let’s not pretend you own all those games you emulate.

I still don't know which group is more obnoxious: pcmr or switch beggars ;p this thread might sway my opinion tho, lol
Why choose? My main platforms are PC and Switch =)

Seriously though. I come from a group of friends who since the dawn of time bought every damn console you can think of. I've found that today, everybody did the exact same thing as each other during their busy adult lives and use a Switch and PC. Most of the PS3s and PS4s ended up being glorified streaming boxes for wives and kids, except one guy who uses it for RDR and Destiny. (Nobody has an Xbox One lol). We use wireless XB controllers on PC. Even my 7 year old niece plays Monster Hunter World on PC like this lol.

Personally, I can't deny the strength of PS exclusives, but there are simply more than enough games in the same vein on PC to keep me happy there. Meanwhile Nintendo has their own style of games which is more unique, and so is the hardware. I don't have the money to support so many gaming platforms, and my backlog is already huge. I let family take my PS4 and I'm coming back for PS5 to catch up on all the games I missed and finally dive into VR. Sony has the VR exclusive games I want but I'll wait for gen 2 thx.

If you are trying to come up with which platform is "best" overall, then of course it is PC. But sometimes all it takes is one game on a console and you just need it right now. I can wait for an opportunity to play Last of Us, some people can't. Meanwhile I would not last a nanosecond against seeing games like Smash and Kart on the shelf not in my possession. If a GOOD Sonic game came out as an Xbox One exclusive, I'd be in Best Buy already. Buy what you need to play your shit and don't make some important meaning behind it.

The plug and play nature of consoles is a big benefit but PCs are a lot better than they used to be. Try to use common parts known to work well with each other and shoot for stability. I put an i5 4690k and GTX1060 in an old case 5 years ago and I'm still happy with it. It plays all the Steam and Blizzard games I want at 1080p without a single problem in years. I hardly even tweak settings anymore I treat it like a console.

have fun on pc...... ☺

I hate to play on pc because my job is on pc...the entire day!

So to relax, i turn on my consoles and play comfortably!

(To be honest sometimes i plug my pc on tv to play my collection of jp doujins)

I still don't know which group is more obnoxious: pcmr or switch beggars ;p this thread might sway my opinion tho, lol
PC Master Race.
At least Switch fans realize why people may choose a different platform. They just wants games.
PC Master Race feels the need to constantly remind everybody how much better their platform is, and why when you choose consoles you are a fucking idiot who is falling for the bottom denominator.
