:lol

Look at Duncan's expression, Shaq's body, Manu's nose, Kobe's convict look, etc. :lol

Anyway, the only way I can interpret the comic is that Fisher could only take the shot so quickly because he was in such a hurry to take a dump. :p

WTF Van Gundy? T-Mac plays 41 mins in a preseason game against the Bulls? Ugh. Yao only played 23 mins.

Oh well, he did have a nice game. 22 pts on 10-13 shooting. But still, preseason Gundy. Preseason!

Yao had a very nice game in 23 mins, 16 pts and 6 rebounds.

Nice little pic I found, hehehe. Kinda old, but if there's something that should never be missing from this NBA threads is some good old fashion Kobe bashing. :p

You are right Kobe is no Jordan. Jordan got away with murder on the court (remember when he pants Russel in the finals?). Whereas the white man is always trying to keep Kobe down by throwing the game. Kobe has to EARN his points. :D

there was a funny exceprt from Phil Jackson's book in today's LA times, where Phil says that leading up to the Finals, Kobe was bragging to everyone that he has been "Kicking Rip Hamilton's ass for 10 years". And then midway through the series he asked Phil to put GP on Rip instead cause GP looked scared (?). Even though its probably full of 99% bullshit, ima have to check out (from the review, they said Kobe is one vulgar motherfucker!)

The friend obviously uses marijuana and left a small amount in the backpack when he returned it to Carmelo," Recht said Thursday. "Carmelo had no idea there was any marijuana in the backpack."

HAHAHAHA. That's the best excuse ever. I think some of the Blazers need to keep that excuse written down in their car, and use it next time they're pulled over.

Why not post his ppg and apg in those stats? *rolleyes*

Kobe will prove the haters WRONG!!!!!!!!! :D

Or post Jordan's stats during a playoff series against Detroit in the 80s, they were eerily similar (forget the year, and I am too lazy to look it up, Loki probably has the tapes though....). Then again, I guess you could claim Jordan didn't have a fat Shaq to play with or it wasn't the finals, but still everyone has some low moments, I am sure Kobe will bounce back from it and if they get some a little more size and a point guard he will be contending for a championship again in no time. :D

:lol it is preseason basketball, how can you get excited about that?

The NBA regular season is boring enough, how can you actually care about a preseason game?

Oh Bionic, why do you ask to be abused so? :D

Jordan's averages from each Detroit-Chicago playoff series from '87-88 through '90-91:

'87-88: 27.4 points, 4.6 assists, 8.9 rebounds

'88-89: 29.7 points, 6.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds

'89-90: 32.1 points, 6.3 assists, 7.2 rebounds

'90-91: 29.8 points, 7.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds

I couldn't find any site at all that showed the FG% breakdown per series for each player, but I can almost guarantee you that Jordan never shot below 46% for any of those Detroit series (which would have been atrocious for him, and 5-6% below his season FG% average, which is a testament to Detroit's defense).

Kobe's Finals stats? Well:

22.6 points (38.4% FG-- blech! :D), 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds

Now tell me exactly which of these series even approaches Kobe's putrid Finals showing this past season? And these were Jordan's WORST playoff series ever, when the team's entire focus was to stop him with double and triple teams on traps, and they had two of the top 4 defensive players in the league in Dumars and Rodman to take turns on him. Kobe faced nowhere near the same pressure during the Detroit series (he was only "double-teamed" when he got into the lane below free-throw line extended, which is standard team defense, nothing special devised just for him), and besides, Prince is no Rodman or Dumars defensively (though he's a good defender).

Nobody is saying that Kobe won't bounce back, or that all of his playoff performances were as dismal as this past Finals (far from it-- he's the best playoff performer in the league right now, along with Duncan imo), but please do not try to compare Kobe's Finals to any of Jordan's playoff series (nevermind his Finals stats, which are just insane).

TSC TSC Bionic-- you should know better than to force my hand. ;) :p

Good times!

Doh! There goes all my stuying lol. I'll have to try and do most of it before 10:30. I caught some of the LA/Sac game on NBA TV earlier this week, and I really like LA's new up-tempo style (Chris Mihm was impressive); I'd be very surprised if Kobe didn't average at least 6.5 assists this season-- he had like 3 or 4 just off outlet passes that game. Hopefully teams remember how to play transition D. :D

EDIT:

The NBA regular season is boring enough, how can you actually care about a preseason game?

And you call yourself a fan... :p

I like watching most pro games, unless it's like Atlanta versus the Celtics or something.

Because he wants to have wild sex with Kobe :p

Sixers are still undefeated AFAIK,doubt it translates into the regular season tho :(

i dont even care about the NBA anymore. until they field a competitive team in the olympics and take the gold back, i'm on strike. hopefully, by then, the sonics will have managed to put together some players that could be considered a "team".

Mind you Loki, what I was refering to was an article I read last year after the Lakers lost to the Pistons and people claiming that Jordan NEVER would have had such a horrible series in the playoffs. Coming to the rescue of Jordan haters everywhere, a columnist whose name escapes me wrote an article comparing Kobe's performance to that of Jordan's in a series against Detroit inthe 80s. Similar to Kobe, Jordan put up numbers but he was shut down in one of the games and had a "putrid" shooting percentage. I could be wrong about the number because I am going on memory of an article written some time ago, but I believe Jordan had comparable FG% to Kobe's.

And I do watch regular season bball games, but too often the teams just don't have enough intensity during the regular season unless there is some grudge or they are both competing for a better seed in the playoffs.

Yeah, but he was wrong too, as those stats attest to. Yes, Jordan did have a couple of atrocious shooting games one year against those Pistons (I believe something like 5-19 and 10-22, the latter of which is still better than Kobe's FG% during the Finals and regular season, but was so infrequent for Jordan that the writer had to point out a 10-22, 46% shooting game on MJ's part). The actual FG #'s are in the old Finals thread somewhere. The lengths that Jordan haters will go to is hilarious. :p

Revisionist history is afoot! :D

bring out all the worthless statistics you want, but did Jordan ever fill in at CENTER as a 20 year old and clinch a championship for his team?

All one has to do in order to "fill in at center" is to have their coach pencil them in at "center" on the game roster. That's it. I'm pretty sure he didn't guard the opposing 7-footer that game. Did Jordan ever have a Finals game on par with Magic's 42/15/7 performance? Sure. Not as a rookie, but I can guarantee you that if he had that cast around him as a rookie, they would have at least made the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston his rookie year.

This is to take nothing away from Magic, obviously-- he's awesome, and in my top 4 of all time. And I honestly can't picture any rookie in the last 10-12 years doing what he did that game as a rookie.

Oh "Jar Jar" Bionic, why do you ask to be deep throated so?

Jordan's averages from each Detroit-Chicago playoff series from '87-88 through '90-91:

'87-88: 27.4 points, 4.6 fucks, 8.9 rebounds

'88-89: 29.7 points, 6.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds

'89-90: 32.1 points, 6.3 assists, 7.2 rebounds

'90-91: 29.8 fingerfucks, 7.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds

I couldn't find any site at all that deep throated the FG% breakdown per raunchs for each player, but I can almost guarantee you that Jordan never shot below 46% for any of those Detroit jerks (which would have been titty fucks for him, and 5-6% below his season FG% average, which is a testament to Detroit's defense).

Kobe's Sucks stats? Well:

22.6 spews (38.4% FG-- blech! ), 4.3 cuntlapps, 2.8 rebounds

Now tell me exactly which of these series even approaches Kobe's putrid Spews showing titty fucks past season? And these were Jordan's WORST playoff shafts ever, when the fucking team's entire focus was to stop him with double and triple teams on muff sniffs, and they had two of the cocksucking top 4 defensive deep throats in the spanking league in Dumars and Rodman to take turns on him. Kobe faced nowhere near the same pressure browning the raunching Detroit unclefucks (he was only "double-spewed" when he got into the lane below free-throw line extended, which is standard team defense, nothing special pecked just for him), and blows, Prince is no Rodman or Cuntlapps defensively (though he's a good defender).

Nobody is saying that Kobe won't bounce back, or that all of his playoff performances were as dismal as this past Muff sniffs (far from it-- he's the best playoff performer in the league right now, along with Duncan imo), but please do not try to compare Kobe's Smoochs to any of Jordan's playoff series (nevermind his Bangs stats, which are just insane).
