NBA 2K18 |OT| 1,000 VC needed to enter thread.

Yeah it's hard to play this game for a long time straight. I'll play like a game or two...but just give up because i'm not really getting anywhere and my character just sucks too much.

with previous 2k games i'll continue playing because I could see my character improving and feel it too (f you layups). Mycareer/myplayer is my favorite mode and it's just annoying now. Hopefully things change, but I don't see them doing any changes given what they have prioritized in the patches.

They want as much money as they can get and they do not care about the player's experience.

Can't help but agree. I played for a while last night and was still at 60 after upgrading multiple attributes and playing multiple drills and games, I thought I didn't know how to raise my overall. But eventually I got it to 61. This grind is insane.

So, I had some spare credit on the eshop thanks to spending nectar points on eBay and buying eshop codes, so I grabbed this on switch.

I've never played a basketball game before or even really watched much, but I'm enjoying it. I just have no idea what I'm doing most of the time :D

This is what I sent to 2k ticket support:

This player I have been using is an 88 rated shot creator/playmaker. This is how I can best describe the events leading up to it going missing:

Since 2k18 came out, I have had a MyCareer save file left over from The Prelude that I have tried deleting over and over again, but it keeps popping back up so I've just ignored it. Last night, I went to create a new MyCareer. Once I got to a certain point, I backed out of that player and went back to the main menu. Out of curiosity I loaded what appeared to be the Prelude file (Labeled "Unknown") to see what would happen, and it took me to a cut scene where at the end, it was shown that this was my Prelude player. I backed out of that, and when I got to the main menu again, my shot creator file seemingly disappeared, as if the Prelude file had written over it.

As you will see in the image I've sent, all I see now is the Prelude file, the new center, and an "Unknown" file which loads the Prelude player at the beginning of all the cut scenes. So now I have the player I started last night, and two files which loads the same player but one of them starts at the end of the cut scenes and the other starts at the beginning of the cut scenes.

My fucking god.

I'm beyond incensed.

First step is to go through 2ku for an intro to the basics.

They dont go over the advances moves and how you can use certain techniques in comnination with others though.

Took me a while, but here's the last of my set of basic tutorials, this time on the post game:

I personally think the post game is great this year, and wasnt an afterthought compared to previous years.

Forget All-Time Lakers
All-Time Warriors is where its at

Wilt in the middle and just spread the court with shooters, Steph, Klay, KD and Mullen, bench Tim Hardaway, Mich Richmond, Rick Berry and J-Rich

that bench is nasty too

Jason Richardson is prob better suited then Klay, since he can do things athletically Klay cant do, he had a much better game.

I only manage one or two matches of career mode a night after work lately, but I've gotten up to OVR 83 and I cannot believe how many Good/70%+ chance shots and freethrows I'm still missing. I have zero confidence that any free throw is ever gonna drop unless I literally perfect the timing. I go less than 50% nearly every match and that's without ever putting up a free throw rated less than 65%. I can't stand it.

Fucking TJ Leaf (I had to check to make sure he wasn't a randomly generated character) absolutely torched my ass last night, nailing 3 after 3 while I can only pray that my shots drop when I'm wide open and get "Great" on the timing as a 3-point specialist with catch-and-shoot, etc. It's fucked.

I still get buckets as a pick and roller and finish every game with close to a double-double, but that's not how I want to play. I picked my character archetype for a reason.

Got a new memory card for my Switch and had to re-download all of my games including 2K18. Loaded it up today only to see my file was corrupted with my player and all of my progress lost.

Deleted the game shortly after.

I remember having corrupted saves in previous years of this game, but since gameplay and character progression was so fluid I just brushed it off as an opportunity to start a new type of character, but now, with the unskippable and interminable cutscenes and the VC bullshit, I would absolutely lose my mind if I lost my character.

I feel for you guys.

Hey guys, I suggest an alternative to the bs mycareer stuff (to be fair, this won't work if you really like the story/cutscenes/online aspect, so go ahead and ignore my post if you like that stuff).

Go into MyLeague and just do player lock in the options, it'll work the same as mycareer, except you set your own minutes, and it skips until you're in the game. Create your player at an OVR you find reasonable and progressively increase it over-time as you see fit.

That way you avoid all the mycareer VC / starting off at a very low OVR, and you get full control of your team and not let the AI make dumb decisions regarding trades / player signings, all that stuff.

My free throw success went up when I shot them underhanded. I changed the animation to Rick Barry.

Finally had a time to play this for the first time. I had 3 play now games.

  • Ball handling feels a lot better from last year.
  • Hall of Fame is pretty hard compared to last year (Won a game but got blown for 2 games).
  • Ai defense is amazing. But user AI defense, for some reason, keeps leaving the corner 3 guy.
  • I pretty much don't care about my team or my player. I'm all about my GM, they added some sort of story which is refreshing but slows the pace down.

Yeah User AI has always been atrocious. They don't know how to handle 4-1, as the 4-5 always helps and leaves his defender wide open. It's been in the past 2Ks as well. Chris Smoove always points it out and they still haven't fixed it lol.

Switch update still hasn't hit

I check everyday and its pretty annoying lol. I can't start a new MyGm/League since the things it fixes requires me to start a new one.

Please share this and retweet it at the devs. This will ruin me, you, and everybody else's gameplay experience on 2K18 online. The settings for off ball are constantly changed without our input and whatever we set up originally will always be altered whenever a substitution happens. This is game breaking on a match up / defensive integrity level. 2K somehow missed this during testing I don't know how.... But we need them to know and patch this ASAP. This is kinda disgusting for a released product ......

Amazing

Just absolutely amazing

I didn't had any issues with HOF last year since I could switch fast to control that player, but this year it's a bit harder since opponent AI improved a lot.

Also, I wish they could add back the driving (layup) shot meter.

I simmed to year 2 of my secondary player...

LMAO. Cleveland's Brooklyn pick ended up going #2 and they drafted an 88 rated 7'2 235 pound center with it. Dude's already got 19 badges hahahaha

Have they changed shooting in a patch? I mean, I'm usually not great, but today I literally cannot get the ball in the hoop, and any team I play against can't seem to miss.

Playing against the CPU, and I'm coming very close to rage-uninstalling.

They haven't addressed any of the CPU/AI difficulty in the recent patch. It's way too difficult even on Pro. I work a lot and all I want to do is enjoy My Player, instead, it feels like the game wants me to upgrade using VC. Played a game earlier and I had inside post position for an offensive rebound and the defender magnetically warped next to me for the rebound. I'm a 7'3 center and this clown shoes is missing wide open runners and hook shots. And when I say miss, I don't mean he just missed, the defender no matter how much they weigh, knocks him down and he flops to the court. 2K has slowly ruined one of my favorite series. I refuse to pay for VC to make my experience tolerable. Wish I had read a lot more reviews before purchasing this micro-transaction waste of money.

There's a way to get Rookie difficulty on MyCareer. However, it requires a new MyPlayer since you basically just get F teammate grades during the intro games and it'll default to Rookie.

When you do get it set on Rookie, don't play Park/Pro-am or it'll change and you'll never get it back.

Pointless? Maybe but the grind for badges will be easier when you create new characters lol.

It's not. The only "glitches" I have witnessed are some audio crackles, but I hear that is on other consoles too.

Cutscenes in undocked become unsynced so you'll be waiting for animations to finish sometimes, since you can't skip them, though it has been patched to make the scene presentable until the audio finished. Sleep mode causes issues with saves, so it's recommended to power down the system completely after a session, ala BotW's Blood moon glitch. You can play ranked online, but can only play with friends in the neighborhood or in your mycourt.

Other than that, it's the full game on a portable system. It's pretty great. I've mainly been playing undocked and have spent too much time on it. Mainly cause the VC grind is too real.

I have never had that issue. I play from sleep mode all the time, and sometimes even continue mid-game. I just make sure the saving basketball in the corner is done with its animation before I put my Switch to sleep.

Wow. I just learned, if you save your game in the middle of it and come back to it, in the post game, the only stats they count for you are the ones you did after your save point.

So I just had like a 35/15 game and they counted it as like a 10/3. Amazing.

I don't wanna say 2k locked Rookie mode away for the whole VC bullshit but idk. Rookie difficulty is clearly in the career mode, except it's hidden behind the condition that you play awfully on your first 4 matches. It almost feels like the devs just went "if they play our game this badly, they are either newcomers or just people who are so casual they won't be spending real money on us, may as well throw them a bone". Seems kind of awful, but that's what I am taking away from this.

Yes, but apparently it goes away once you hit park and you can't get it back........so something weird is going on.
