New DS3/SIXAXIS Drivers For Windows - Includes Rumble Support

is there a way to "remap" the number associated to the buttons? Currently I have select mapped as the "01" button, it's pretty annoying to navigate trough menus :lol

Holy shit thanks for your tip.

To translate what he said you need to do the following:

Bring up your device manager, expand the Human Interface Devices section.

Once expanded, pay attention to the items listed as "USB Human Interface Device" Count how many you have without the controller plugged in.

Now, plug in the controller. A new "USB Human Interface Device" should appear in the bottom of the listing:

Right click on it, select Properties and make sure it says what's shown in the image below:

Now click on the Driver tab, click on Update Driver, Select "No, not this time" when the wizard asks to do a search for software and click on Next.

Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.

Click on "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." and click on Next.

Click on "Have Disk" and steer to the driver directory. I used the ds3drv_dx version. Once selected, Click on Next.

It installs the driver, you can click on Finish.

Ignore the HID-compliant game controller entry. That's where I was going wrong :-/
Thanks Man, Works Fine!!!

It sucks being a Vista 64 user. I want to a driver that works for it.
It's one of the reasons I will never switch to 64 bit Windows. Them forcing signed drivers causes so many problems.

There's sort of a way around it but it's still stupid.

Well, funny about the above couple of posts...

Looks like there are 64bit drivers available now (although you need to use Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider for Windows 7 x64 and Vista x64)

http://www.motioninjoy.com/blog/show/7

Instructions: http://www.motioninjoy.com/game-blogshow-8.html

(They have 32 bit drivers on this site, too)

I'm not sure if it's the same person who did the previous drivers or not but it doesn't seem to be. Apparently these drivers might allow for the motion controls as well. I haven't tried them yet though.

I've been using the driver that was previously mentioned ...the one from Gamesaike that will disable your USB HID recognition if you uninstalled the driver.

A friend of mine uninstalled the motioninjoy and now he's getting an unexpected exception error everytime Windows boot. Any ideas on how to get rid of this annoyance?

Edit: NV, he hadn't deleted DS3.exe

Nightmare. Windows 7 is automatically installing some sort of driver and not letting me put in the ones downloaded.

Nope. Just me failing with normal W7!

I've got the driver on now. Thing still won't do a thing, no calibration or response. Pops up in the driver list as Dualshock 3 now though.

Here's a better DS3/Sixaxis driver:

http://motionjoy.com

Supports different modes:

Digital Gamepad(Dpad, without joystick)
Analog Gamepad 1(POV, joysticks)
Analog Gamepad 2(POV, joysticks, analog triggers)
Analog Gamepad 3(POV, joysticks, motion sensor)
Xbox 360 Controller Emulation

Also has rumble support.

So I should uninstall this other one? Install this new one and do this process again. yay!

Haha I did but I keep getting Error Code 39 so it wont work, though according to the forums on the site the way to get around this (for 32 Bit Vista at least) is to uninstall Service Pack 2, install the controller, then reinstall sp2 and it will still work.

Im definitely too lazy to do that though.

Nice. Although I wish I had a use for it. All I play on the pc are nes/snes/genesis emulators. Nothing with vibration.

It's the only thing this pc will run. :"(

Does the Sixaxis/DS3 have pressure sensitive buttons like the DS2?

As far as I know, the DS3 still has them. I know that the 360 one doesn't (weird, as the original xbox one did), at least that's what Itagaki mentioned, and Im not sure about the Wii Remote.

Just posting an update here.

The drivers from the first post are now moved to a new URL. For some reason the guy got suspended from GeoCities Japan.

Anyhow, here's the new web site: http://tamamyikesu.web.fc2.com/

Here's the translated drivers page (Google Translate): Japanese -> English Translation

Looks like he's got some BlueTooth drivers now: http://tamamyikesu.web.fc2.com/sd_debug.html

Also, the other SIXAXIS/Dual Shock 3 driver called MotionInJoy has been updated recently too.

It's now up to 0.5.0002

just a stupid Idea here...

for those who don't want to mess with driver settings......what would happen if you got one of those DS3/DS2 adapters for the 360.... u know, so you could use a DS3 for your 360 system...

now what would happen if you plug that into your PC? would the PC see your DS3 controller as a 360one and do all the mapping itself as if it was a 360 plug and play device?

I use MotioninJoy's drivers and one of the options they include is Xbox 360 controller emulation so I would imagine a DS adapter being able to do the same thing.

What?!

Why do you want a vibrating mouse and to control games by waving your keyboard around?!

I found those motionjoy drivers a while, they are perfect. Even have sixaxis support which is kinda cool. :p

First I thought this was new, then I thought maybe someone had fixed the x64 issues. :(

ya ill stick to my wired madcatz xbox 360 controller until its easier to use a ds3 with win7 64bit (bluetooth)

Nice this popped up, I was just looking to use the DS3 with my missus' laptop.

Any idea why my Joytech PS2 to USB converter isn't working on Windows 7, it sees the adapter but not the controllers attatched?

Works fine on XP.

Maybe he just wants axe support. Six of them.

I've not been able to get my DS3 worjing with win7 yet. Guess I'll give the updated drivers a try.

So, after much hassle I found a tutorial to install on W7 64bit, now I can do usb connection perfectly. However I have trouble with the bluetooth pairing, it seems to pair but the buttons don't respond. Anyone that has this fixed with the newest version of motionjoy?

That's what I get, but it's not actually... installed. I have XBCD and stuff installed here, would that cause issues?

Edit: Might have got it to work... Maybe.

Couldn't get it to work on W7 64; I should have kept backup files of the one I used before in my previous Windows installation (upgraded Vista 32 to W7 32)

blargh, going to keep on trying :lol

Hate to bump up an old thread, but the motionjoy drives have now gotten a signature from Microsoft.

Dual Shock 3 drivers signed

I've had problems with this in the past, but I downloaded it this morning and they're working great. I'm running Win7 x64 and the drivers installed perfectly without having to turn driver signing off.

I've thrown emulators and the Sonic Fan Remix at it and its worked perfectly fine.

honestly, this is pretty huge news. signed drivers? should be in a new thread.

Fantastic, now anyone with a PS3 has a great PC controller that will work plug and play with >90% of modern PC games on x64 Windows without any nasty hacking, thanks to the driver signing and integrated 360 controller emulator.

Oh, and yeah, this needs a new thread.

AWESOME. Though I did find this little program that, when you boot Windows, it goes ahead and does all the configuration to allow the unsigned drivers on 64-bit systems. Ah well, this just means I can delete that and not even have to worry about it.
