NFL Offseason Thread 2015 |OT| All of our teams suck!

Choosing graphics over solid core gameplay mechanics is an automatic failure every time.

I disagree with your premise. I occasionally buy a game like The Order because I just want to see some crazy graphics. It's sort of like why we all go see summer blockbusters. They are almost always universally bad, but we watch them because they are pretty.

Summer blockbusters aren't $60 though.

Anyway, who could possibly have guessed that 5 hours of "Press X to watch cutscene" would be less than ideal gameplay? I'm shocked.

Eh. There are good blockbusters and bad ones. You can't compare transformers to jaws and Jurassic Park.

Telltale chooses shitty graphics and no gameplay and they rake in the awards! Just gotta regurgitated worn out IP and the neckbeards will cream.

Maybe the stories are good. I've never played them.

In the case of the Order if the Movie / Story sucks and it's over a 3rd of the game and the gameplay itself is average you simply have a poor game.

I love the setting for the order so I'll buy it eventually and play it and chances are I'll like it. I'll end up paying like 20 bucks for it, just like most games I get.

Some people like that stuff, not my boat, but early adapters of systems like the PS4 and Xboxone are doing it for the eyeporn if nothing else.

I liked Tales of Monkey Island, it's a shame that stuff like that isn't rewarded but non gameplay is.

I actually was looking forward to The Order for a while, hype deflated as more info dropped...I'm guessing it will hit PS+ eventually and will just try it then.

Actually it's seems you agree that those games pretty much suck.

I still say any team that drafts Winston is going to suffer badly. Dude is a trainwreck and turnover machine

Not really. He had a lot of interceptions, but not all interceptions are created equally. He had to put the team on his back a lot to come back from halftime deficits, although admittedly he deserves some of the blame for continually being in that position. The combination of having to do too much and having inexperienced receivers who weren't where they were supposed to be on some of his anticipation throws resulted in some interceptions that he shouldn't be chastised for.

...and? If the game has no intrinsic value in the market, then it will fail. If it does, then it will succeed regardless of however many people want piss and moan about graphics over gameplay or review scores.

I'm saying throwing away $13 to see a shitty movie is a bit different than throwing away $60 to play a shitty game, that's all :p

Games like Ryse do have their place, if not every game like is that I don't mind it ( I just don't buy them).
Call of Duty is a yearly 7 hour game that hasn't significantly altered its core mechanics for 12 iterations.

...but it has multiplier so that's ok. I bring it up because I bought and played Advanced Warfare late last year for $60. I played through the campaign on veteran, finished it and sold it off for $42 dollars. I got /exactly/ what I wanted out of it after having spent endless hours in open world games. A nice, linear "guided" experience that was over quickly and entertained.

There's absolutely a place in the market for games of that ilk. Whatever value proposition you place on that experience is your own. What irks me is people projecting their own value proposition onto others.

I don't get the bloodborne love

It is a Soul series game, if you love that type of game, see no reason why this one won't be just as good if not better. Unless they did some extreme gameplay makeover that backfires, which I doubt.

If you don't like the Soul series or are bored/tired of it, game probably won't do anything for you.

I would like to play through RE4 again. Quite possibly my favorite game of all time.

Been at least 3 years since I last played through it...I need to correct that.

Wait...so Warren Sapp videotaped himself getting oral sex from prostitutes, and showed the cops the video to defend himself?

Hahahaha

So football:

Coughlin on JPP: Want him back without a doubt. The goal is to have him retire as a member of #NYGiants #NYG #Giants

Good news on Victor Cruz. Coughlin said he's expected to start running roon and his rehab is right on schedule.

Coughlin on Weston Richburg: He is a center and will have every opportinuty to compete for that position.

Coughlin also mentions that Kiwi's future with the team "hasn't been finalized" but he had knee surgery and is recovering.

I think that's nice of the old man to say but he's getting cut or is taking a huge pay cut to stay.

Also, I laughed at this:

Ebenezer Samuel ‏@ebenezersamuel 2m2 minutes ago Indianapolis, IN
How much of a leader is Marcus Mariota? Heard he helped keep all QBs in his group - including Jameis Winston - in line during measurements.

Gotta love combine season. The most useless bits of information an details get reported.

I've never played RE4, but I don't really play horror games in general.

I did try a mod in Skyrim that puts the mansion from the original RE in the game, though. That was pretty neat.

RE4 isn't really a horror game. More of a third person action game.

They aren't always his fault, but I don't think he's a good decision maker and I'm also saying his off the field problems might continue. Doesn't look like a safe pick to me

Wow lol.

I really should make an arrest pool

It really isn't that much of a horror game...some parts of the castle can be creepy, but other than that it doesn't have much horror at all.
