It's in the room where you fought the single circular saw, the very first room of the game proper. There are a couple shortcuts in the factory that you can take to make things easier on yourself, look for a hidden room to the right in one of the top down areas early on when you're backtracking through the factory.

That's not what I'm saying. I was mainly talking about the 70% rpg 30% action comment earlier in this thread, I don't agree with it, neither do I think that's a bad thing. The fighting is great.

You don't need to complete nier to understand this game. Indeed you could play this game and then play nier to uncover the backstory of the world, and things would not change much
But you dont have to play the first game at all to get a fully satisfying experience

It sure beats the hell out of every game with drakengard in its name. Beginning hours barely scratch the surface of this game's story but it sure has a bunch of stuff happening already.
I guess I found the Phoenix Spear. I was using the scanner for a sidequest* and I randomly found the weapon somewhere in the desert. iirc it was the best weapon in the first game, not sure how good it's in this one though.
*that sidequest annoyed the hell out of me. you have to search in the whole fucking area for hidden items, which you can only locate when you're near them, fun! I found 3 of them and it still wasn't done. fuck you, sir.

It leaves a much different impact. I would not necessarily say better or worse or bigger or smaller. It fits for Automata just like the ending fit for Nier.
Yoko Taro didn't lie about anything though in regards to how he might have described the game's overall general tone. This is a battle of robots and androids for humanity and it sets that mood appropriately in everything it does.
Which is more than what i can say for games like Drakengard 3 which just lost me in how utterly tone deaf and fall flat a lot of the off kilter humor was compared to what the events going on were supposed to envoke emotion wise

I am absolutely kicking myself for not buying Automata digitally on the JPN store, I've had a week and a half to Horizon/Zelda without anything to play. I would have finished it by then, sigh.

I feel like the 'true end' of the orginal lost a certain amount of impact for me over time, that's really another discussion for another time but this game got me more than the first game.
I haven't seen yet what 100% completion will get you but 70% was worth it for Liam. Once the discussions really start, a highlight of his reactions to the endings should be included.

Still unsure of my feelings on ending E mainly because I hate not having an epilogue of the sorts on what the characters are doing x amount of time later. Makes me feel extremely shitty. Personally still would like to see more of 2B and 9S' story. Fuck.
The other endings still have more concrete fates to the characters and just like every Yoko Taro game, they are still canon and relevant to the continuity. The sword holding 2b's memory is still pretty relevant such is any other part of the other endings.

its easy to misunderstand the ending if your not paying close attention, i expect a lot of people to get the wrong idea...but there really is only one way to interpret it
