Nor'easter expected to hit DC, NYC, Boston Monday night to Tuesday night

Shoveled the walks but it's pointless to dig out the car until the plow comes through. I had the dog out in it and his first move was to dive into the yard, instantly burying himself in snow 3 times his height. Then he just ran back and forth down the paths that have been dug out so far trying to stand on his back legs to see what's going on around him.

This is officially the cutest thing I will read today

My dog goes out, sees the snow is taller than him, turns back around to give me a dirty look and trots back inside

We are getting slammed in MA.

State of Emergency announced for Massachusetts, with a travel ban. Total white out, can barely see across my street.
*edit*
N/M not a SoE. Just travel ban and the SoE center was opened, but not announced yet.

Yeah, just north of the city in Somerville and it's really coming down right now. I'm curious about tomorrow, but that's probably dependent on whether the rain holds off and it stays snow.

Good luck! Just left Boston Logan to the U.K. last night after the PAX weekend. Got super lucky since it was relatively clear when we left.

My office closed today but since I work from home I can still work.

At least I don't have to drive in this but I'd much rather be upstairs playing Zelda.

The pros and cons of working from home.

Sucks to be you!

I think this might be the first time we have gotten less on the southcoast/cape this season.

Just checked the measurement. Currently sitting at 19.5" and it's still snowing. Seems upper end of estimate might end up correct :(

I can't shovel as fast as it's falling right now in Rochester

I go and clean up the driveway, come in and rest a bit, look out and it's as if I never bothered...

Didn't get hit that bad on shoreline CT.

With all this rain I don't know how much shoveling I'll need to do.

Probably going to have work tomorrow (I work in a public school) but it will be a messy commute with frozen roads.

Hospital worker here in Springfield, MA so I had to show up to work today, get out at 7:30. I commute about an hour away so it's going to be absolute hell trying to get home, if thats even possible tonight

Storm was a bust in Boston. Looks like it's just turning to rain now. 12-18 inches my ass.

Public school kids already have tomorrow off, though. Spoiled brats.

Dang, usually I see districts in my area in Western Mass wait until like, the very end of the day of the storm or early the next day to cancel/delay schools.

Was mixing bad in the Boston area?

The official total for Boston as of now is 4.5" and it's basically sleeting/raining now.

Boston public routinely closes for practically nothing at all. Sad!

Right on the harbor, and its almost all rain now after 3". Warm air aloft saved us. Winds are bad.

Sounds like western and central MA is getting clobbered.

Man, and I thought me spraying my shovels with WD-40 was smart. I never thought of this lol

Seriously though, WD-40 makes shoveling sooo much easier, snow and stuff just glides right off the shovel, no gunk left over.

This worked a treat! Thanks for the tip.

As others have said, the storm was pretty lame here in the DC area. Office opened at 11 so I got to sleep in a bit, which was nice at least.

Got a surprising amount of ice here in Delaware. Glad we haven't lost power, we've had a lot of branches falling as the day's gone on.

Day off from work was nice~

well, the advantage of having frozen thick 5" of snow is that i live at the bottom of a big hill and its been fun sledding all day.

The disadvantage is that my driveway goes down that same hill and 3 hours later im done shoveling it all... realizing i'm not young anymore and shoveling 5" of snow and 2" of slushy ice is for suckers

I'm jealous of you who missed the storm. I'm in Central PA and it looks like we got the full force of it. I've cleared my driveway, but the township hasn't even plowed the neighborhood yet so:

1) I can't get out anyway.
2) I will need to go back out later and open up my driveway again when they seal me in.

It doesn't look like I'm getting to work whether it's open tomorrow or not.
