Why would it only work on Maxwell? Nvidia is pretty good about making sure older cards get all the new bells and whistles.

4K quality on 1080 monitor. That slide really had these words on it. Come on. A benefit from downsampling 4k, but that is just a funny straight up lie. Funny stuff.
Looks like more waiting though to replace my 670
GPU absolute numbers are so slow to improve.

During the entire time he talked about it he was only referring to Maxwell which makes me think it will be exclusive to Maxwell.
DSR is restricted to gtx 970's and above gpus. It was mentioned in the review I linked in the OP. So it's not for the masses just yet.

GM104 is the mid range Maxwell chip. It also plays to their scheme for pricing and die shrinks.

Downs sampling 4k to 1080p on a 50" screen is glorious.

Ah, those response times must be why Durante said to get an Nvidia card if you're interested in VR.

The $330 GTX970 for GTX780 level performance seems like a good deal to me.
