I bet this is the handheld NX.
All the leaks are pointing to this being the controller.

Missed in all the madness over "no buttons?!" is the fact that the sticks look absolutely terrible for a home console.
It doesn't look like this will be any friendlier to third parties who just want to port games with parity across the consoles. I doubt this'll bring any onboard.
The controller doesn't look comfortable to me, but the Gamepad's not comfortable for me with the Wii U, so it happens. It looks like criticisms of the DualShock (read: not DualShock 4), where it hangs limply in your hands, which then fall asleep.
But I'll still buy one, Nintendo. You had me at "hang limply in your hands."
How are they confirmed !!!!Buttons on the back confirmed.
The leakers nick on Reddit is "Perkele37". Perkele is a finnish curse word and the old finnish word for the devil.
How does Monster Hunter always get dragged into these things?
But do you know how it's gonna work? That's a pretty substantial piece of info lol.
hmm. Seems the knobs/sticks are about half in the screen and half out. Odd.
The rumors suggest this is exactly what they're doing though.
As for cost? Who knows
It's all about MOBILE, baby!Legit question: So if this pad is real and is the sole controller for the console, they are basically saying we do not want any ports of any past, present or future PS4 / XB1 titles at all?
Because no traditional button layout will fuck 80% of them and if they insist on selling a classic controller separately they can think again
another one whoaaaa
Unless u sprinkle water on it and it transforms into a controller w buttons, I think it's easy to imagine how it works.
Now that I think about it, not having buttons make it great for strategy games, damn you Nintendo, if your machine has a steady support of RTS' I may end buying it.
I'm pretty sure that's the monitor's back.top right. you can see a reflection that shows the window next to this person's desk, and the upper edge of the window frame is curved instead of straight. this implies that the window isn't rectangular, but rather the top of the window is curved. so all of these images of N headquarters and Massive are showing windows with straight upper edges.
i don't think it's those buildings. maybe something like this.
Why would Nintendo invest this much money into a product and screen when it will be obstructed by your hands? It's possible (and even likely imo if this is true) that Nintendo might be using technology like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JelhR2iPuw0 for digital buttons. This would solve pretty much every problem digital buttons have, since the screen is no longer actually flat. If they're doing this, they've probably partnered with a company that developed a technology like this. I feel like once you've got a production system in place, this type of technology might not (though I can't guarantee this without any info on exactly how it's manufactured) be that hard to produce once you know how to make it work. So it might not actually cost Nintendo much to mass produce a system with this type of cutting edge tech, and that it's cost might derive largely from licensing to use it
I don't really see how haptic buttons will fuck 80% of them
And they also said NX ISN'T a hybrid...

I can't believe it. You guys ACTUALLY think this is a DS/Wii moment? That they have stumbled on to something that everyone else just doesn't "get" yet, and that they are going to show the world how shortsighted they were for not believing?
I swear, the lightning in a bottle effects of the Wii and DS really hurt more than it helped. It has both Nintendo and some of their fans really believing that it can be replicated super easily.
Just being able to SEE this controller like this means NO MULTIPLATS. Like..... stop and let that sink in. This things 'success' ceiling is already capped.
If this is the reality of the NX, then I'm never going to own one.
I'm about to have a fucking meltdown. Fuck Fuck Fuck.
I should just give up on work for the rest of the day.
Fuck.
This might be the laziest article I've ever seen.

The real shame is that we'll never know who gets fired over this.
Okay, that got me a chuckle.Shill.
joking
Well, fucking why not? Might as well just wait until we actually get hands-on reports before we really start freaking out.Benefit of the doubt? Really?
Fucking why
I know, right? It's like it's the end times or something.Uncontrolled and wild panic is best when you have no idea what you're in a panic about. We take one look at it and it's just NOPE. It's almost primal.
I know what you're getting at and to a point I agree that maybe this isn't the end, but at the same time, my experience with smartphone or tablet games with digital buttons is that they just aren't nearly as comfortable as physical buttons, and the design of the controller itself doesn't look very ergonomic. I think those are reasonable concerns at least. I'm just not sure what the benefit is of getting rid of buttons entirely. At this point in time, another gimmick isn't what Nintendo needs. Stuff like this can be problematic when it comes to cost of the system, development of new ideas, and porting of multiplatform games. From both a player's and a developer's perspective, all most people want is a good game machine.
Also, what the hell is going on for these past few pages?? Something about trees????
dreams shattered "/
lol....it would be insanely cheaper to just use physical buttons. Also I would rather not have them that way......remember how awesome it was to send in your WiiU Pad for repair and wait forever due to Nintendo's support? No thanks!
100% sure this is just A PART of the complete controller. Nintendo is never ever ditching buttons.
