Wow, Festivale today turned out to be a big deal, took a load of pics...

RUU_1322.jpg

Yay! This is a new holiday for the AC series. I love how confetti rains down all day like snow and all the festive music. :)

RUU_1323.jpg

Participation in Festivale is mandatory apparently. ¬___¬

The neighbors want you to participate in games of chance with them all day long, you either win candy, or you lose some candy you have or 500 bells if you don't have any candy on you. I hid candy in my letters whenever I won a piece - it's more rare than a measly 500 bells, and you really need all the candy you can get!

RUU_1328.jpg

This guy Pavé was dancing his butt off in front of town hall and requesting candy non-stop. When you brought him 3 pieces of a type of candy he requested he gave you furniture.

Also as you can see, went a little nuts with the turnips this week, they go all the way from town hall up to Nook's, 17,000 turnips in total. Although I think Pavé spent all day crushing the ones I had where he set up his stand. Hope I get them back once he leaves.

RUU_1329.jpg

Mind Soccer: One of the games you can play with the neighbors. You start off as goalie and have to guess which way their kick will go. Then it is your turn to kick as they play goalie. Whoever gets a goal point advantage first wins.

RUU_1330.jpg

Coin Flipper: Basically you have to call a coin toss 3 times in a row in order to earn candy. This one was frustrating till you realize that it falls into a pattern most of the time. 75% of the time it's Tails, Tails, Heads.

RUU_1331.jpg

Psychic Test: First they will ask you to tell them the shape they are thinking of. Circle/Triangle/Square or SomethingIForget/Star/Wavey Lines. Then they will ask you which fruit they are thinking about Apple/Peach/Orange/Cherries/Pear. Lot of variables in this one, but I found a good pattern. Triangle->Peach tended to be correct about 75% of the time, and Wavey Lines->Cherries was right about 99% of the time; there was only 1 instance of that being wrong.

RUU_1345.jpg

Hand Guessing: Guess which hand the candy is in two times in a row. When discussing the game, if they give you two 'sly' emotions, the candy is in their right hand both guesses. If it's only one 'sly' emotion, the candy will change hands. So if you guess the correct hand the first guess, guess the other hand your second guess.

RUU_1332.jpg

Me paying the penalty for failing Ruby's psychic test!

RUU_1336.jpg

Rock, Paper, Scissors: Best two outta three is the winner. This game goes by pretty randomly. There are some patterns, but by the time you figure out the pattern you've either won or lost. No clues I could see that would tell you which one to guess to start off with - although I successfully won the first 'round' about 50% of the time by going with 'Rock', 25% tied, and 25% lost. They very rarely picked paper right off the bat.

RUU_1338.jpg

I have never heard of such a tax. ¬___¬

RUU_1343.jpg

Me winning a soccer mind game! It's not my mind soccer skills you gotta watch out for Lobo, it's my MIND BULLETS! YAR!

RUU_1348.jpg

Viva!!

RUU_1350.jpg

Werd, bow down to all my mental powers!

RUU_1352.jpg

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

As the day wore on (read 3 hours into the festivale) I got tired of tracking down neighbors, so I started fencing them in. Luckily in about 15 minutes, all 5 of the neighbors who were outside wandered over to this particular area of my town and I just trapped them all for quick access to play their games and get my candy.

RUU_1354.jpg

Pavé is how you say; cracked out of his mind. Pretty sure 'candy' in this case is something illegal. I felt like a drug mule all day transporting him candy.

RUU_1355.jpg

Yellow: LSD?

RUU_1357.jpg

Green: Pot?

RUU_1359.jpg

Blue: Crack?

RUU_1360.jpg

Red: Extacy?

RUU_1362.jpg

Being Pavé's drug mule for the day was pretty profitable. And it DID take me most of the day to get the full set of his furniture; 10 items plus floor and wallpaper. Kept getting tons of duplicates over and over. I ended up getting like 5 tables at one point.

What was funny is that sometimes I would have the right amount of the next kind of candy he wanted with me, so I would go ahead and give it to him. When you gave him candy again right away he would say something like...

Pavé: "Oh, what do you want from Pavé? You have candy already?! This time I will give you something new, give to me candy!"

Only problem is that he wasn't guaranteed to give you anything new at all. One instance I got a Pavé Chest from him, gave him candy right away, then he gave me another Pavé Chest. It all just points to the conclusion that he is drugged out of his mind; why else would he stand around dancing in one spot all day long?

Anyway, obsessive compulsive collecting tendencies have been sated for the day; and I was able to make about 200,000 bells selling off the duplicate items. :lol

Man, Festivale was tedious. It took me 4+ hours to get the entire Pavé set, but the 300,000+ Bells profit from selling doubles was nice.

Luckily I read up on it before I started. A few tips for anyone just starting Festivale tonight:

-Dress up in a complete outfit (Zap Suit, Pirate, etc.) and then talk to all your outdoor villagers. If it's the first time you talked to them today, you'll get a free piece of candy.

-Don't carry any Bells or items. Deposit all your Bells in the bank and leave your tools and other items at home. The only tool you'll need is a shovel for fencing in your neighbours which brings me to my next tip...

-Trap your neighbours. Use your shovel to keep your neighbours trapped in one spot unless you want to run around like crazy for the next 3 or 4 hours. If possible, get all 5 of your outdoor neighbours trapped in the same area next to a building you can currently enter, as that will make it much easier to get candy quickly.

-Keep your candy in blank letters. Carry around fruit and shells instead to bet during the games. Shells spawn quickly so they are a good method.

-Stay organized. Have four marked areas (patterns are useful) for candy near Pavé so you can quickly pick up and/or drop off what you need. A checklist of all the Pavé items is also helpful.

Good luck.

*smacks forehead* I never once considered getting rid of all my money. I even went to the ATM at one point to withdraw an extra 50,000 bells since I was running low. Probably would have saved me about 30,000+ I spent today. Oh well, helpful tip for next year. :p

My god, I didn't know what I was getting into this morning when I booted up the game and saw that it was Festivale. I must have played for 3-4 hours, and I still don't have the complete set (I just gave up). Still missing the floor/carpet and lamp.

I don't suppose anyone here would be willing to trade or sell an extra floor or lamp? I have extras of nearly everything else...

Regardless, Pave is a complete freak, but I loved his crazy dancing :)

The dancing was hilarious, and there was some funny text today too but I didn't really get to pay much attention to it because I was just powering through all the text to get candy quickly.

It's definitely an arduous task. The last Pavé item I needed was the chair and it took me at least 45 minutes to get that. I had over 30 extra Pavé items that I sold afterwards.

The games get really tiring too. Eventually I wouldn't even do the soccer role-playing game because it took too long and you didn't even get to pick what color candy you got if you won. (At least with the four villager personality types I had available to me that day, different personality types determined whether or not you got to pick your candy after winning each specific game.)

Glad its spring, was getting tired of the snow. Now its time for a new town theme and some house rearranging. Havent had my gate open since im trying to upgrade everything town wise before letting anyone in. Just want things to be different from last time :lol

Items hidden in the ground should look the same with actual grass right? Havent seen any cracks yet.

The green was almost shocking, everything is so bright.

And yeah, the cracks in the ground are the same. If they are over the grass, easy to see. The only time it's hard to make them out is in the fall since the grass is brown/purple so they just blend right in.

because we have no real time for AC atm we'll do the whole festivale next week by timetravelling :) Thanks for the tips :)

edit: wait, what? it's spring? oh shit, so I have to repaint my path patterns :lol

I have tons of pics and stuff I want to paste over here, but if I try and copy/paste content here the pics never work unless I manually insert the url one by one?

I can copy the html, is there a way to paste the code over here on the comment box?

That's what I thought when I started playing today. I had been looking forward to the snow being gone, but when I saw all the green it looked, I don't know, weird. I'm sure I'll get used to it, though.

I'm on about my fifth day of "perfection" - hopefully I can keep it up so that I get that prized golden watering can next week :)

For me it was pretty blinding since the sky was clear and blue and the grass was bright green. I was like - whoa, my eyes!

Here is a pic I took this morning of the sky, it's completely clear except for that one little whisp of a cloud...

Also removed my winter hat since there is no more snow. ^____^

Sucky day is sucky. West Val looks even worse without snow and Nookington's de-evolved back into Nookway.

Many weeks ago, I had laid down paths to control the traffic flow. No grass has grown back since.

We should have just stayed home today, Slider.

Man, my town looks more barren than ever now that the snow is gone.

Why hasn't Nintendo released a patch for the grass issue yet? Is it really that hard?

Probably impossible, unfortunately.

I was also surprised by the grass, i thought it was going to be a slow transition into the green. Ah well, i was getting a tad bored of the snow.

Actually, I imagine they COULD patch the system menu with a tiny program that automatically alters your save file each time you run Animal Crossing, "adding" layers of grass.

Maturity, bitches.
They could give us a fertiliser item.

I'm quite lucky and I still have quite a bit of grass left. Just need to be careful and stick to my paths and tart planting more flowers.

Thanks.

And D-pad, you didn't plant flowers and water them in the barren bits? I've found that grass does grow back if you stick to your paths but my town only had moderate damage. I was actually suprised by how quickly it grows back if you aren't watching it like a watched pot that never boils. Plant flowers over all the barren bits and stick to your paths.

^Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Though it's going to take a bit longer now that Nook went back to selling only four flowers a day. How often does he ask for suggestions for his store? And does variety = Nookington's?

Once I knew about the animal tracks problem I laid down path tiles from Wendal say late last year. I stick to those paths and planted flowers over all the bits where it was wearing down. It's not an instant effect, but if you just stick to your paths and ignore it, it definetly works over a couple of months. You know those circles of bare bits that are predefined? I wore away one side of a couple of them. Planted two flowers in the gap and watered them when they were going dry. Now the bare patches are 75% healed over say, 8 weeks.

You got it really bad with your town so it might take ages to do the whole thing though. Ages. :(

And sadly, when the flowers in the middle go dry you will have to walk over areas you dont want to be walking over, just to water them. I hear that the rain in Spring makes the grass grow back especially fast, so you might want to wait until the rainy season.

I think that variety is Nookingtons, yet I have a Nookingtons and when I told him variety he said "Oh I've been getting it wrong". Weird.

Could anyone direct me to any active AC forums?. Just bought AC for the Wii and most of the threads seemed to have moved on. Nintendo really should relax the friend code stipulation at least after the first 6 months, trying to create an active friends list is proving impossible

So many pictures of deserts :(

Ok, I can't be the only genius who sees the correlation & missing link between The Sims & Animal Crossing?

Expansion Packs!!!

WTF nintendo, there's like a fucking gold mine! You could be releasing content packs for animal crossing like every 3 months, $25 a piece, a few thousand (or hundred) items, sets, and a small game altering mechanic (like other places to take the Bus to, or perhaps purchasing pets that follow you around, hell, they could even add back in NES games this way, by putting part of the $$ of the expansion towards covering two or three licensed games).

It's a huge fortune of opportunity they blew out the window by not doing this, and it would add so damn much value to the game, to have new things to look forward too more than every few months.

Yeah, I'd definitely purchase some expansion packs; I purchased every expansion pack for the original Sims on PC. I was REALLY big on that game at the time.

As for NES games, I always thought that when AC came out for Wii, there would be a game console you could buy, and it would link directly to downloaded VC games you have. That way you could turn it on, select a VC game to play, then when you are finished, you are right back in AC. So I was disappointed they didn't impliment something like that.

Anyway, everyone, don't forget it's time for new bugs and fish to be out this month. Daisy already asked me to find her a ladybug, but it's raining hardcore in my town right now so no bugs are out that I could find other than a lonely pillbug.

Oh yeah! New bugs! :D

I have been so busy playing Street Fighter 4 lately but new bugs is definitely enough to bring me back home to Animal Crossing!

One of the cutest villagers ever moved into my town the other day.

RUU_1413.jpg

Decided to honor her with this new t-shirt. Hope the other villagers will start sporting this shirt soon.

RUU_1411.jpg

Not a bad representation. Took a few tries to get the coloring right. She is sort of a blue-ish grey.

RUU_1412.jpg

Now the whole town can celebrate the cuteness of Lolly. ^_____^

^^^ Ah, that's so cute! :)

Am I the only AC player who always has "animal envy"? I always see animals roaming around in the city (or in screenshots shared here) and think, "I wish *they* lived in my town!" :lol

That said, I love Tangy and especially Tabby and get quite a kick out of Cube and Vladimir (most recent neighbor).

One more thing: Anyone here have the most recent DLC made available to Japanese players - some sort of tiara?

Why isn't NOA releasing any DLC for this game???

Does anyone know about cross breeding the flowers? I want to do that to make some new bugs fly around to catch :D

Is it as simple as just putting 2 flowers next to each other or is there a more complex pattern to it?

jibblypop: Put flowers of the same type (tulips next to tulips, roses next to roses, etc.). Generally, red + white makes pink, red + yellow makes orange, red + red makes purple or blue (I think), etc.

Pretty much. Roses are the most versatile, they will make any color.

Roses
Red + Red = Black
Red + Yellow = Orange
Red + White = Pink
White + White = Purple
Black + Purple = Blue
Wilted Black + Golden Watering Can = Gold

Here is a guide that is pretty useful.

Just remember you only get a few new flowers popping up each day, so only place flowers next to each other that will produce the hybrids you want. As a general rule, it's never good to place white and yellow flowers together as they don't produce any hybrids.

So no word on the Pikmin hats for North America?

NoA can't be bothered to exert any extra effort I guess. Not that this is suprising, they've made a habit of coasting for quite a while now.

That's what I mean. The game surely has sold about as much in the US as it has in Japan by now, so there's no excuse on NOA's part. Whatever - I'm enjoying the game anyway :)

Is there some sort of dedicated Animal Crossing site I can find to get some people to play online with? Because right now I can't find anyone to play with on this game, lol.

I wish you could just search for new towns without using a friend code. But I guess that's not possible.

Found Wisp's lamp.

RUU_1428.jpg

Later that night, he revealed himself to me.

RUU_1429.jpg

Why does a ghost want to haunt a lamp? I don't understand you Wisp.

RUU_1431.jpg

It kinda creeps me out he wants to head back to my attic everytime. Why does he want to be alone with me in that small room? Scary.

RUU_1432.jpg

Decided to take a tour around town with him instead, holding off the inevitable. Apparently he doesn't like other attics? Btw this is my alt character 'Hollidae'; I've set up her house to be a showpiece of holiday themed furniture. I don't want to sell my collection, but it takes up too much space in my drawers - so why not display it?

RUU_1433.jpg

I think he has caught on that I am clearly messing with him, how is The Roost creepy? Other than the pigeon milk in the coffee...

RUU_1435.jpg

Stop pressuring me, this feels wrong, I don't want to go to the attic! ;____;

RUU_1436.jpg

Welcome to your new home. You can call me Master Nelson and I will call you Jeannie. I think the lamp adds a nice showpiece to the house. How many people can say they have a ghost genie in their living rooms?

Then again; everyone's a critic. ~____~
