ON AIR: GFW Radio 97.5 The Brodeo

97.5: The Brodeo
The episode was really good, there were some really noticeable changes that jumped out at me. Ryan spoke a lot more and was more engaged and Anthony was waaay better at articulating his thoughts on the fly. Both changes were definitely for the better, the show left me really missing GFW more than I already did.

Both those things were the first thing *I* noticed when we were all sitting there and starting to record. Ryan was actually kind of IN CHARGE and way more comfortable than I was blabbing in the first 20 minutes. I was all proud, in a dad-like way. "My son--he's grown up!"

Just finished listening to the episode, and it was a great one, Jeff! I hope this is the first of many!

You guys picked up where you left off - and bravo for getting the date wrong. :)

I wish I could say that was planned, but--nope! That is just me, for better or worse. :)

I think all of us would be up for more, for sure. We had a blast. It's not a matter of Kickstarter money or anything like that (money wouldn't "solve" it), it's more a matter of logistics + our real jobs getting in the way.

And right from the start of our planning, I felt like the way we *had* to do it was as a "regular" episode, with no acknowledgment that 4 years had passed. :) We didn't want to get into any nostalgia or emo self-congratulations--we just wanted to blab.

I really wish Robert had enough time to work on A Life Well Wasted; it was one of my favorite podcasts after everyone had disbanded.

How did I forget to include a life well wasted. The Brodeo inspired a lot of people and left behind quite a legacy as a result.

Three years of running your own podcast will do that to you. :)

Then again, if you want to hear me talk less while a bunch of crazy people talk about their cartoon shenanigans, that's what the Comedy Button is for!

So I have some old GFW Radio episodes on my mp3 player that I randomly listen to from time to time. I'm listening to one now...

On the 2/13/2008 show, Shawn tells of his college dorm mate, Derek, who had porn viewing sessions for his friends, and a particularly memorable video, "Satisfaction Jackson."

I'm pretty much 100% certain this is what Shawn was referring to on Irrational Behavior. :D

Either that or "Colossal Combos".

OHHHHHH SHIT HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS THREAD?

Downloading, right fucking now.

I feel so old now listening to these guys again. It's been awhile since I've played console gaming (which is what PC gaming kinda turned into) but I kinda miss those days again hearing those dudes again.

And yeah, Ryan was Mr. Jabbermouth, that stood out big time. :p

We've had a couple reuinions since the show ended and I hope this isn't the last one.

What an awesome reunion episode. Stupid, deep, funny, disturbing, inspiring, its the Brodeo. How I've missed thee. *sheds a tear and pours out a 40*

Hahahaha mind reminding him how the dialogs go? It was something like "kiss , lick, grab, stroke...only then you get to fuck"

Can we at least get more of something like Out of the Game again? Get as many people into it as you can every month or so, even if it's just three guys and not all from the GFW podcast.

This reunion really makes it clear that other gaming podcasts don't have the same level of quality. And it's not even nostalgia for me, I got into the Brodeo towards the end. We need more podcasts with people who are actually interesting to listen to, and have things to say outside of gaming topics that don't reveal how boring they are.

Maybe it's just me, but this podcast just made it stand out more how much I disliked Out of The Game.

Every person on the podcast was great, and I have enjoyed listening to each one at diffferent times. Sadly though, N Gai and Luke never felt like they slipped into the ease and enjoyment that everyone here does.

At no point did it really feel like someone over talked the others to much, or was to far into the background.

Wasn't that the porno some guy gave him at that PAX reunion panel?

Debating on listening to this a second time. The fuck is wrong with me.

More like, what the fuck is wrong with every other podcast out there?

Answer: no long form discussions about the discharging scab that is society. Or, at that, literal discharging scabs.

I dunno, I rewatched Bad Santa as soon it was over because it was that good. I equate these podcasts (basically anything that originated from ZD) to that.

I can't believe Tony Danny was creeped out by Anthony. There's WAY creepier Star Wars fans at CMU, students and faculty alike.

"Lick, stroke, kiss, suck, only then do you give your fuck. Make em happy, its the main attraction, bitches call it satisfaction."

I think thats it.

Awesome podcasts should be your real jobs!

Really nice to hear this group again (minus the regrettable "Let's laugh at the mentally ill" segment).

Genre fiction that is good is claimed to be not genre anymore by the mainstream literary scene, such as the science fiction of Vonnegut or Philip Dick, or the fantasy of a Borges. In other instances, it is given a pass when a mainstream critical darling writes a genre novel, even if it isn't a very good example of said genre.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
One thing I really liked about how this worked was just the topics that they came to and how the jokes were just there and funny. Might be a lot because they haven't been together in a while, but it seemed like the best parts I like about the Comedy Button on a regular basis without the parts that make me sort of *sigh* aka the forced premeditated bits.

The chemistry the Brodeo crew has just makes it so everything feels so natural which is something all great podcasts strive to obtain.

PS: Robert is sooooo right about the Michael Stipe thing and this Halo he has when he goes out in Athens. Also Athens is a weird Southern mix as talked about as well.

PPS: I really agree with this 2nd part. I think it's similar to the game argument made a lot about how certain genres aren't evolving, but that's because the games that do don't get tagged in said genre anymore. It's a weird thing.

Hahaha thanks. I really miss this podcast, I havent found anything quite like it.

All this vulgar talk makes me want to hear Shawn do something with the song 'So What?'

Edit: I mean the Anti-Nowhere League/Metallica song. I realize now that there must be many other songs named 'So What?'

Hahaha I knew as soon as someone mentioned a character creator that Shawn would somehow make a character with an erection.

Just finished listening. Great episode!

The Brodeo archive on 1up pulled me through a pretty rough project about a month or two ago, so this was a really nice surprise as the old episodes were still fresh in my mind.

So thanks, guys! You're the best!

Oh happy day.

This is bizarre. I recently spent a long flight listening to This Year's six-hour highlight reel of all the 2007 GFW podcasts and enjoyed it so much I was considering going back and re-listening to some old podcasts in full.

Boom. New Brodeo. This is gonna be great.

I just hope it starts with "Hello and Welcome!"

Edit: Hell yeah! :D

Thanks for posting this!

Man, HL2: Episode 1. I never bothered playing E1 or E2 because I just can't picture those games holding up in 2012. Coulda woulda shoulda...

I can't even think of an FPS that has been released since HL2:E2 that has bettered it. What revolutionary advancements in FPS's would cause it to not hold up in 2012?
