PAL Charts - Week 41, 2013

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
On second thought, Dragon's Crown publisher is very small so I guess overall numbers aren't bad.

Regarding Pokémon Black / White sales we have its first month sales.

March 2011 UK

[NDS] Pokémon White (Nintendo) - 154.000
[NDS] Pokémon Black (Nintendo) - 132.000

http://blog.livedoor.jp/gehaneta/archives/3716175.html

More specific infos about the debut

‘Pokemon White Version’ becomes the 2nd fastest selling DS game ever (behind Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box), debuting at No1, 13,000 sales ahead of sister title ‘Pokemon Black Version’ which enters at No2. If you combine their sales together they become Nintendo’s third biggest ever UK launch (behind Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii).

The game came out on March 4th in Europe, fyi.

Anyone else know how much MKWii sold at debut?

Pokemon did. Pokemon X did not, Pokemon Y also not,but together they did.

Pokemon's (as a whole, X&Y) 1st week sales beat GTA's 4th week (probably not by a lot). There was a whole thread with a lot of people arguing that Pokemon's sales would surpass GTA's overall. It quite obviously wont.

so 286K for the month for B/W and X/Y are already at 121K.

I thinkt it will do better than B/W for the month.

Too bad about Beyond. Hope it won't affect their relationship that much. But "only" selling 4 times as worse as TLoU isn't that awful considering it had probably twice the budget including marketing. Still not great though. Mediocre reviews, bad timing and shit industry.

If I recall correctly Quantic Dream's mocap studio is used in film production as well, as an additional revenue stream - so I don't think this bombaing is going to affect their solvency or anything.
From what I've been told me the story is a mess in this.
The story is much better than Heavy Rain. There is almost nothing wrong with it. However, by nature the game is very divisive. You have to accept you are pretty much playing vignettes for 8 hours. Many people don't enjoy that and I don't blame them. It really comes down to taste with this game.

Not really, it got to another topic where they were comparing lines for both games.

121K minimum

But if GTAV is ahead of each version, and GTAV was 110k, that means Pokemon X and Y can't be above 110k each surely?? Else they would be ahead in the combined sku chart ...

Edit - Oh right, ignore me, get it now. So minimum is 121k - max is 221k.

2 - FIFA 14 PS3 - Electronic Arts

Ah ok, thanks. I guess with UK being 3DS weakest market it's not all surprising.

Do you have any idea on what X/Y can do in Japan first week?

Fixed. And Pokèmon should still be one of the biggest debuted for a Nintendo game ever. Wii Fit sold 233k, and it's the best debut ever in the country for Nintendo.

Wrong version at the top!!!!

Good numbers for Pokemon I guess!

I don't know if that needed "fixing" is Europe a more receptive market to the 3DS than NA, I don't recall off the top of my head.

I think something around ~2M is expected if there's sufficient supply.

NA is more Nintendo-friendly than Europe as a whole, but there's a lot of variation (i.e. France is Nintendo's best market in Europe in relative terms, apparently)
what if we had state by state breakdowns of sales in the US, that'd be really interesting

Ok thanks, I just saw some 3 - 4 milllion predictions that I thought were high.

Yeah, Europe as a whole is Nintendos weakest region, not just UK, I thought that was pretty much accepted ...

I shouldn't have said that number definitively, that was just an off-the-top of my head prediction based on a quicklook at garaph.

Highest Pokemon debut in Japan is 2.6M, so something like that wouldn't be unprecedented. I think predictions above 3M are too high though.

^ Position 5 in France is still a bomba.

Also, Beyond had a pretty terrible debut all things considered. It's performing like a Wii U title. For shame. Okay, maybe I won't go that far, but still.

UK is definitely not ever going to be Nintendo country, but that doesnt seem bad for Pokemon. Question now is does this provide the kickstart Nintendo needs for the 3DS in the west or will it just be a big bubble?

....it's possible for it to kick up in the US while still relatively sucking in the UK, you know
(but yeah, NPD sales will provide a better look)

Did the charts change? Pokemon X and Y are now ahead of GTA and FIFA in the UK?

Was there an edit?

EDIT:
Oh, were GTA and FIFA broken up into 360 and PS3?

I think everyone's forgetting that that's the chart ending 12/10/2013. Pokemon had been out for a day when these charts were finalised.

forgetting it in regards to?

games do their biggest business on the first day, the result would be better with a couple of extra days for sure but its not a big deal.

Are you going to come in here next week and argue for the opposite? As in the second week performance is likely better than the average game because it had less days of sale in the first week.

I fear Pokémon helped FIFA 14 for 3DS selling: it's at the same position as last week. Such a disgrace, EA doesn't deserve that money. :p

If you're interested, I've tried to follow closely 2DS's trends (and overall 3DS trends) on major Amazon stores (especially in UK).

UK - when Pokémon released, one SKU was between 30/40s, the other between 60/70s. Then, shortly after X & Y lanch, the best selling one started becoming scarce / in shortage (from 109 to 121/130 puounds, from external sellers), leaving the white SKU as the only one available. In the last two days, this SKU reached the 16th position on Amazon as highest position, representing the 90/95% of the whole 2DS current demand given the other was not available. Now, white 2DS is dropping and black 2DS is rising, for the same reason: they're not available now, but new stock will come on October 25th, directly from Amazon.
More: since Pokémon released, many other 3DS SKUs made it back in top 100, including one of the Pokémon 3DS XLs, some regular 3DS XL, black OG 3DS. And the 3DS charger is costantly in top 10. It seems Pokémon moved all kinds of 3DS models, and demand for 2DS is good. Zelda and LEGO Marvel for 3DS already well into top 100 (61st and around 70s, respectively), good sign for portable releases well before their release in UK, Layton is almost in top 100 as well. Zelda 3DS XL around 40s, but it was around 20th when it started being available for preorders.

France - both 2DS obtained to stay in top 100 when they were both available, usually one around 20s and the other around 60s. Then, Black 2DS went sold out here too, letting 2DS rising. Now, 2DS is around 20/30s, but there are only 13 left, while black 2DS will be available again on October 25th. About other items: 3DS charger is 9th (Zelda is 8th!), and several other 3DS SKUs as well. Layton well already in top 100.

Germany - the country that, at least looking at Amazon, was the least receptive to 2DS, always around the other half of top 100, from what I've seen. But still, enough demand to have it in limited stock (white) or as sold by other vendors with a markup on the price (black 2DS). 3DS Charger is in top 10 here as well. Second place for demand for Zelda 3DS XL, though.

Germany and Sweden have good taste, #TeamY
what's with the complete lack of numbers for PAL charts btw (especially outside of UK), it's even emptier than NPD

Swap Force sales are 35 per cent lower than predecessor Skylanders Giants' were last year. Has Disney Infinity (in 10th this week) left its mark?

Sonic: Lost World, this week's other new release - "a flabby, disjointed mess" - just misses the top flight and finishes 11th.

Take-Two and Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V remains at the top of the UK all-formats charts this week, despite a drop in sales of over 30 per cent.
Sony exclusive Beyond Two Souls drops to number six after its debut week, with sales down 60 per cent.
The only two games in the top ten to see sales rise were Minecraft 360 Edition (up 19 per cent) and Disney Infinity (up 20 per cent).

Killzone: Mercenary that high?
...Virtua Tennis Vita so high?

Were there deals for the former? And what about the latter? I've seen mentioned Argo's Vita offer, what does it consist of?

Argos bundle = KZ Mercs and VT 4.

It's a fantastic bundle, not surprised to see both of those charting and so close to the top ten.

Sony exclusive Beyond Two Souls drops to number six after its debut week, with sales down 60 per cent.

So what are the sales here? Sub 10k?

Still surprised it failed to make a bigger impact, especially considering the massive ad campaign and their cutting content to ensure a lower rating so they could push even more ads.
