Actually, that was a different point. The Cleveland Indians are a Major League Baseball team, one who is fairly stingy. The comparison was to American Football teams who are making profits in another stratosphere. Why don't you read the thread?
If Hispanics were only 1% or 2% of the population, I'm guessing it'd get the same kind of "shrug, who gives a shit?" attitude from a lot of people.

Exactly. It's a name that's only survived this long because native americans aren't just a minority, they're an extreme minority that doesn't have much of a voice.

Redskins are, I think, the #2 most valuable franchise in the NFL behind the Cowboys. It's gonna be an uphill battle to make them change anything.
The Indians can barely draw a crowd, so far fewer people would care if they changed their name or logo. I doubt they'll ever actually relocate though.

They basically named the team 'Washington Wet Backs' but for Native American's.

I still can't believe a team uses this logo in 2013.
It's not "all" of them. Specific ones are getting handouts, while others want their cut, or are upset that some are getting a handout in the first place.

I think it has been reduced to home games only at the moment. They have a generic "C" for the road uniforms.

The majority of Native Americans don't give a shit, they probably have more important things to worry about. And it's obvious the name was never intended to be demeaning, it was meant to be something in the same vein as warriors. Who is gonna name their team something demeaning? Doesn't make any sense.

It's a slur but it won't be changed anytime soon because the team makes so much money and the team owners and managers as well as the fans don't want to be told that something that they love and make money from is bad and must be changed (even if it is). Same reason people don't want to give up their guns. They don't want other people telling them what to do, even if it's the right thing.
