If he was ever going to enjoy a RE game, it would have been one structured like this. That's probably more telling.

LOL. I see some "judge the game for yourself" people are showing up. Funny that they don't when a game is getting universal praise.
wowowowwhat has happened here:
- anti-japanese sentiment has reached a tipping point in western press
- capcom are an acceptable developer to criticise due to their mixed business practices
- the game is bloated and excessive, but it's also difficult and has a steep learning curve
consequently, re6 becomes the perfect target to;
a. prove journalistic integrity by tearing down an AAA title
b. slaughter a hugely popular japanese brand with a sound 'motive'
reality: re6 still contains more imagination and innovation than most (if not all) AAA western games.
I'd like you to tell me how RE Revelations is different from RE6.
Huh? RE5 has sold very consistently since its release. In Japan, it's the only million selling console game this gen aside from FFXIII (this counts Alternative Edition).
Same. I hope more people support this. Capcpom doesn't deserve our money this time.
if it was genuinely good there wouldn't be anywhere near the number of bad reviews.
also, take note of who gives the positive reviews. Be wary of them next time.
Yeah, I will never understand the RE4 hate when it comes to the "blah blah blah action and stuff" talk. The atmosphere is amazing in that game, and there is plenty of walking around dark areas just waiting for something to pop out that may never actually come. RE5 did not have this, unfortunately, at least not to the same effect.
why is the gametrailers review down?

I'm saying that, because I've actually played RE6, and I unequivocally loved my time with it. Sometimes when you review game after game after game, it's easy to get jaded, and that might be what's happening here. Or, maybe some people just wanted a totally different take on RE than what RE6 providedI know that, as a longtime Silent Hill fan, I hated Shattered Memories for that very reason.
I would absolutely beg people to not write off RE6 due to these reviews. Yes, it has flaws, but when I allowed myself to look past those flaws and really consider what kind of experience I was having while playing the game, RE6 was far and away one of the bright spots of the year for me. I said earlier in the thread that I think RE6 is a far better Resident Evil game than RE4 was, and I stand behind that opinion.
And, to be clear, I hated every bit of RE5 that I played.
If only people didn't buy Resident Evil 4 and call it amazing. Maybe Resident Evil would have gone back to being a survival horror game and not action extravaganza where every game has to out-do the previous in terms of set pieces.
Jeff doesn't like RE4 or the RE series anyway, so it's not like his opinion is exactly relevant here.
The mechanics are laid out in a way that I can't imagine Jeff liking it at all. I'm going to say the "structure" doesn't matter in comparison.
YES.
I'd have to forgive someone for thinking the first few minutes look boring as shit.
On the other hand, when I first saw footage of RE4, it didn't look that exciting either. Now it's a favorite of mine. It's always true that you can evaluate a game better by playing it than by seeing it, but that's more true of some games than others. Maybe RE6 is one of them.

You have to read the OT then. It's full of that sh!t, an entertainment reading.

Because game quality isn't determined by a mean of review scores.
This game kind of sounds like everything I hated about RE5 on steroids... Sucks real hard. At least I'll always have Revelations though. I love that game so much.
It was on the wrong (type of) platform for the intended audience, sadly.
Didn't you hate Shattered Memories?
Yup, yup. That game is gonna surprise people. Granted they're not still out for on principle (which they will be).
Resident Evil 4 is an amazing game because it took the survival horror formula and turned it on its head. It still had exploration and puzzle solving, but now you had to be much quicker on your feet because your enemies weren't slow-moving putzes any longer, and the same strategy (blast the crap out of anything that moves) didn't work on all of them.
RE5 took that formula, removed the puzzle elements, upped the action, and added co-op.
RE6 took the RE5 formula, threw it out the window, and made some strange Gears/CoD hybrid with zombies.
I don't think that gag works as well when she pointed that out on her own. Just saying.
Without an alarming "definitely don't believe the hype" review from any Aussies here with the game-I'm seriously considering canceling my preorder for this on 360. It sounds like a schizophrenic game that doesn't know what it's supposed to be and does not do any one part well.
Cancel preorder and get dishonoured? Haha
What do you guys/gals who have it think?
Reviews and criticism are opinions...People are saying its opinion and bla bla, I don't agree. There should be an objective line that tells you what is wrong with a game, and what is right about it.
I am wary of all of them because of that.
Looks like Conan was about right with his 35% score, haha.
I meant because it's less survival horror, more of a set piece based shooter. I worded that weirdly.

So you were payed off by Capcom to enjoy the game? Lololol.

This is probably the fifth time you have told us you weren't buying the game.
Oh please.
RE4 was more action oriented than previous games but it was just as subtle, with just as much attention to detail and atmosphere if not more so. RE5 took the wrong lessons and emphasized the wrong things from RE4, and that's not RE4's fault. It's RE5's.

Only thing that can save this bloated mess of a series is a complete reboot. This franchise needs an enema.
Resident Evil 5 was a reskinned and inferior version of Resident Evil 4, so it still had elements that made it a focused and polished action game. The jump from Resident Evil 4 to Resident Evil 6 is like The Godfather part one compared to The Godfather part three, it's extremely jarring.
