Yep same. I have had AIO CPU coolers for the last 5+ years for the same reason. Really keen to also go the AIO route for the GPU this time round, primarily because of the size and weight of most of these cards.

I will give custom loops a go one day but it will first be with older computer parts as my first time. That way if I catastrophically fuck it up, no harm done.

Different strokes. I have a 65" OLED and never would want to game on it, really. Not at a desk with a mouse and keyboard, anyway. I love sitting close to my 32" 4K/160hz display. I could never sit that close to even a 42" OLED.

Honestly OLED alone is enough to improve the visual quality by a notable degree.

Graphics simply look better on my LG than my PC monitor.

I'll be looking to upgrade once Samsung release a 49 QD-OLED next year.

Well, that might be the case for certain types of games, but some games are better on a monitor/desk setup.

I skipped 3000 series so will probably go for one of these eventually. I spend 90% of my gaming time on PC so I never mind paying way more on a PC than I would on a console.

I want to wait for the dust to settle on AM5 motherboards or see where Raptor Lake sits and do a completely new build so hopefully by the time that happens the 4090 will be in stock but we'll see.

They always do.
The Suprim X pretty much always the card that generally runs the coolest yet also one of if not the quietest.
And in past generations, not sure about now, the Suprim X vBIOS had ridiculous powerlimits and potential.
Alot of Gaming X Trio users get more performance from X Trios by flashing Suprim X vBios onto that board.
But if you dont want to tinker too much, just get the Suprim X, it gets the job done 9 times out of 10 overall better than even the ridiculous Aorus Master/Extreme.

RPL is probably gonna be the better buy for gaming....till 7000X3D.
And you can purchase a lastgen motherboard which should be cheaper for the feature set than anything AM5 will be offering.
Although if you are someone who upgrades your CPU often(i dont know who does) AM5 might make sense.
They will be on this socket atleast till 2025.
When Intel reaches NovaLake, AMD will likely have an AM5 compatible chip to keep up.

Im not planning on upgrading from LGA1700 till NovaLake.

Pretty much, every gen is the same thing with these overkill for gaming narratives and then after 6 months a broken port without dlss get released and the whole facade crumble.

We didn't have more demanding games to test like Cyberpunk in those prev reviews though. I think this is the only game where the prev gen struggles to achieve 4k60.

I would guess even a 3080 will likely be enough for 4k60 + DLSS (without RT) for the rest of the gen.

Even the RTX 2080Ti averages 63FPS at 4K (without DLSS) across 23 titles - this is a 4 year old card!

You have 3 years old control that without dlss average 69 frames at 4k +rtx.

If anyone release a slightly heavier game than that without dlss you can say goodbye to even 4k60 locked, let alone 4k120.

People who think that they are gonna play in the best way without worrying about settings for the next 5 years are onestly out of their minds.

There is ALWAYS a broken\heavy game around the corner, even if the baseline are those cheap 500 dollars console.

I don't think we will see such a broken game where it runs perfectly fine on the PS5/Xbox but will run like dogshit on the PC. Most PC ports have been very good over the past 2 years IMO.

But it also depends if you want RT - an overrated feature IMO. Adds nothing to most games except tanking the performance by half.

Sorry i said ports but i was not only talking about ps4 ports (and even if i was talking about that, horizon zd was trash at launch and you had to bruteforce things), i was really talking about any game that get a pc version, i bought asterigos yesterday, a game that it can barely be considered an AA and i can't run the damn thing at 1440p60 rock solid to save my life, it always has some random slowdowns.
And before that, it was the remake of destroy all humans 2, a game that should not make my 2070super sweat at all, and yet, another game that didn't wanted to run at 60 locked.

Since i play 98% of games on pc i can't even remember how many games i played with shitty performance that didn't looked that hot.

Nobody is gonna keep a 4090 without fucking with settings for 5 years, not even 3 i bet.

the more of DLSS3 I see the less I think it`s in any way desirable.
Even if they completely iron out the artifacting in the generated frames and make the picture quality near perfect even at lower base FPS the added latency for more frames is still unacceptable for anything faster paced imho.

can`t push the added latency below 0 though. So even in the very best and pretty much impossible situation of zero added latency and flawless generated frames you`d still be stuck with ~30fps responsivity or actually worse at 60fps. This feature seems utterly pointless unless you already have very high framerates to begin with in which case the additional visual smoothness heavily suffers from diminishing returns.
Maybe for slower paced simulations or similar....

Desirabilty factor for me personally is at 0 right now.

God I fucking hate youtubers. Those bastards with their hype machines are one of the reasons pricing is so fucked up on PC HW. Thanks to these guys younger folk think an X70 class GPU is mid range and a X60 one is low end. Thus believing splurging 2k or more on a gaming rig is the absolute minimum. Only some of them try to keep it real

Not to mention their stupid thumbnails and clickbait titles.

I'm okay with "latency" of 60FPS for most titles and the smoothness of 120FPS. If that can be achieved I'm actually okay. I don't play competitively. The biggest no-no for me is the way it handles UI elements. If they can fix that, I'll be on board.

Yeah, friends/coworkers. He said it works perfectly. I know he was mining ETH on it for a while though. Like 24/7.

But I feel like even if I paid upwards of $1000 for a used 3090 on Ebay or wherever, I may get a mining card anyway.

Anyone got a link or image of all the 4090 sizes in some kind of comparison thing?

I've always thought I had lots if room in my case as my old 3090ti fits no problem but I should really narrow down exactly which cards fit!
 
might be easier replacing the case and going for a PALIT or whatever rather than waiting around for Nvidia FE's stock.
 
I removed a front case fan on Corsair 220t to fit the Gigabyte Vision 3090 into my case. Keep in mind that if you go to Corsair's website it says it only supports a 300mm cards and the Vision 3090 is 320mm. I still have about 20mm of space and the Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 is 340mm so I'm going to be pushing the limits.
