Nobody is saying that, but it's bizarre they wouldn't add 4K and HDR when they sell HDTV TV's. The only thing I can think of is they had no idea that the X Slim would be 4K.

It looks...Awkward, in exchange for a pretty small height reduction and not much depth and width reduction.
I just hope it's quiet enough that you can't hear it even at a desk with you. My 1200 is inaudible from TV distance but very audible at a desk with me.

The ps4 fat already has physical buttons for some time now.
The most recent PS4 has physical buttons, the one I have does and it has a matte HDD cover.
I bought alternate covers though, a glossy White and the Frozen LE one.
Which would you buy:
Slim for $280 CAD during Black Friday
Neo for $620 CAD in November

This isn't a pretty console but I think that's the point. It serves a different purpose, which is to be the budget tier PS4, the one you can buy for your kid and not worry about it because it looks sturdy and inexpensive. Meanwhile, the Neo will be the more high end PS4.
October to November.
Don't expect it in September, games are not ready.
The Slim instead...if they're already shipping it....it might be a "available right now" moment on September 7th.

PS4 can already output a UHD resolution signal via play memories and they make UHD TVs with HDR functionality. they were truly shocked and blindsided by the S and 4K playback. Maybe wait for official specs yeah?

I think the PS4 Slim looks like a decent trade off design and functionality wise. You can tell there was a cheapness involved to the design, but its still slick enough to not look too cheap, and still look aesthetically pleasing.

It's not bizarre at all. If you have a 4K TV (and maybe a PS4 already), the odds are you will go for Neo instead of the slim due to you being a savvy, technically accomplished consumer.

I would love the Neo to have an all-gloss finish to contrast the slim's all-matte.
PS VR is $399 USD $549 CAD. Add 13% tax and BOOM, almost 650 dollars holy hell.
I of course am assuming Neo is $399 launch price in US. If it's more, then 😭😭

And are we entirely sure the thing doesn't support 4K at all (streaming)? In anyway people seem to grossly overestimate the market share of physical UHD media.
All signs point to no UHD disc support. There are no markers on the box or the console.
