I don't like how grey it looks. In my mind, Scott Pilgrim has always been super-colourful.
With all the muted colours and lens flares, it looks like every other post-production intensive blockbuster, but with Hulk/XII-esque comic-book overlays. :(

Still excited though.

Looks pretty damned colourful to me. Did you watch this trailer at The Ritz? :D

Same here, kinda. I know about Scott Pilgrim and have been meaning to read it for a long time now, I think I will now.

Street Fighter KO sound and Edgar Wright sealed the deal.

You're right. O'malley is fantastic when it comes to color. Oh wait. =/

Thanks :D

Cera might fit the part visually, but holy hell does he not seem capable of playing the role at all. Scott Pilgrim is more dorky extrovert than shy awkward loser. Every line Cera has in the trailer makes me cringe, with those little mouse squeaks.

Other than that, looks good, but the lead character not working is a major concern.

I think he can pull it off. I am guessing that the film version of Scott wont be as extroverted as his comic counterpart. I hope when the action and the jokes start flying that it all works.

Oh, and the tunes in the Trailers are from Beck.

EPIC.

Maybe they didn't want to put many Scott moments in the trailer.
I hope he works in the final film.

Hurr hurr
The Ritz is close, it's cheap, it's nice, and their 3D projection is really solid. Anyway, I did end up seeing Avatar at both IMAX cinemas, you know.

I watched it in 1080P, of course!

Scott Pilgrim's world doesn't seem to be a 'muted colours' type one to me. This doesn't remind me of the look of the 8 and 16-bit games that SP takes its cues from.

Oh hey Krev. You never told me (or I can't remember) what you thought of the 3D at Fox Studios' LieMAX. IMO its the best 3D picture quality out of everywhere I've been to.

It's very good. Really bright, and the 3D is like RealD but with extra pop. Ghosting isn't too bad either. It's a shame it's so expensive. Tickets there really shouldn't be the same price as they are at IMAX Darling Harbour. Still, it will be really great when they bump it up to dual-4k.

Oh, and awesome that Beck did the music. It does sound like him, come to think of it.

Scott is a loud and extremely expressive guy with the mentality of a child. Cera always plays the same quiet awkward loser that can't get his emotions across, he couldn't be a worse fit.

So I basically said the exact same thing that 7th did earlier, almost word for word...

I said it louder and more obnoxiously on the first page! Hi 5!

Its the one thing against the film and I think thats what makes me so angry about it. It had this potential to be utterly perfect as they've nailed every single other member of the cast, but whether Edgar didn't have the balls to shirk "mandatory Hollywood main star" or not who knows, but he made an awful call letting Cera in as Scott. Maybe as Young Neil, but definitely not Scott.

The kid they have playing Young Neil would have been a better fit as Scott IMO. They got the casting backwards.

Fuck, this looks awesome. Can't wait to see this in theater. Now I need to finish reading the comic in anticipation (Currently at the 3rd book).

I suppose so, but it doesn't look that bad. Maybe I just haven't seen enough comic-to-movie adaptations using that muted color "tech." *shrug*

I haven't read this book, but I plan on catching up before the movie hits the theater. (just got amazon prime)

Don't kill me as I know this comic book is probably much better than what I'm going to compare the main character to...but is Scott Pilgrim kinda like Naruto? So you guys are upset because Cera is the anithesis of that?

With that said who would you have in mind to play Scott if Cera were MIA?

Naruto? That's a weird jump. :lol

He's basically, as others have said, very expressive and very immature. I was personally against the idea, but A LOT of previews have said he works well and this trailer, aside from certain parts, has definitely solidified that.

I have no familiarity with the comics, but that looks awful in terms of plot/story/characters/boring-Cera-acting. The style and visuals are sweet, but can't overcome the rest. Hopefully Edgar Wright can put his skills to use something better down the line.

Question for anyone who's read the book and screenplay...
In the movie does he fight all 7 ex's, or is this going to be broken up into several movies? And if all 7 are fought, won't they spoil the final book? Or will the conclusion be totally different?

Well, I haven't read the books (yet?) or the screenplay but here's what I've heard:

This movie is apparently going to be stand alone, without any sequels. It will have a different conclusion than the final book although I believe the creator of the book series likes the ending of the movie.

That's what I've heard, perhaps someone could help clarify further.

As someone who hasn't read the books, the movie looks extremely awesome. I can't wait. Inception, Iron Man 2, and now this - this year is an awesome year for movies.

You got it right. The endings of the two differ, but the sixth and final book will be out before the movie. The movie tells the complete story of all 6 books.

As a lover of the books I'll echo the sentiments about Cera not being a decent choice for Scott, his usual acting isn't a good fit at all for the style of the character. Still, everything else looks sweet so I'm still hyped and giving the movie the benefit of the doubt.

The trailer definitely brings Micheal Cera to a whole new light for me, lol, I find it an ironic and perfect fit, oh well, my 2nd most anticipated movie of the year
after Twilight Saga:Eclipse

Needs to come out faster!

Can your computer run it? My laptop can never seem to run 1020p straight, only 720p. 720p is practically fullscreen for me though, so w/e.

Lol no. Although they might sound similar, Naruto is more of a dumbass while Scott is more of the "fuck yeah!" type of immature person.

Never read the comic book, but even I'm finding Cera's character annoying. I think its his look - he reminds me of a lesbian in her late 40s. I wanna see some balls to the wall adrenaline shooting out of his character during this film.

Don't feel bad. Even a broken weeaboo is right twice a day. I agree with both of you guys.

I'm hearing some interesting hateful opinions on the trailer. Ranging from:

1. Geek Misogny
2. Male loser fantasy
3. A movie for geeky shut-ins
4. A movie for geeks who've yet to grow up

I've hear alot more, but i made my point. I've never seen so many people on hate on something thats harmless and meant to be just a fun movie for geeks.

EDIT: Not from this thread., but from other places discussing it. Just found that interesting.

Geeks don't like movies about them.

Pretty much. As someone else said about potential hate and backlash on this movie: geeks and nerds do not like to see themselves in movies because they're secretly afraid that either a: they'll be exposed to their friends or b: the movie geeks will be cooler than they can be.
