Silent Hill arcade? Tekken 6 to be shown tomorrow?

It's not fair to judge from low-res media, but so far to be honest, I'm disappointed. The characters seem to have a VF5-ish level of detail(which I'm not content with), but the lighting is flatter and drabber. The scenery in general just seems to lack detail. In some ways it looks like Tekken 5 with just more polygonal detail. Oh well.

...

Let's hope it's footage from an alpha version so a massive graphical improvement comes later, amirite?

Tekken 6 environments fail in comparison to VF5, the models are just about on-par, though they need some (better) skin textures for most of the characters. Costumes look alright.

You nailed it. Just add the fact that Namco is still using some of the animations from Tekken 2 like Asuka's f+2 1+4,2,4 f+3, Jack's d/f+1+3, etc. That really is a shame, those animations are really starting to age. Once they replace that and it will truly be Next-gen.

Some other tidbits from the trailer, did anybody else catch the short-haired female character on the programmer's computer screen at the 2:00 - 2:02 mark? I think she was doing some of wang's combos like d/f+4,4 etc. I think there is another new male character at the 2:05 - 2:06 mark. I mistakened it for Lei Wulong at first.

Just compiled the info known until now...

And MarkMan, on are those things like Evolved Combat system, New Characters, There are more new characters on the way, You haven't seen anything yet!, etc. the translations to all the Japanese headings thoughout the trailer?

judging by the trailer The game just looks a tad better than Tekken DR on PS3. HOnestly does not even look close to VF5 or DAO4. IMO.

Same weird stiffness to the animation is there and well the crazy memorization fest juggles seem to be there tooo :(

I agree with the people who say the legacy animations from Tekken 2 need to go. Nina's multiparts are embarrassing to look at. >:(

I cannot tell a lie, so far I am not impressed with Tekken 6. Maybe it was the editing of the video and the fact that what I see doesn't really tell me anything other than two new characters, improved side stepping and some cool stages. Gosh, the shotgun part really made me feel ill. Maybe I have to wait a little longer for further info as that video didn't tell me anything much.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to go insane over VF5.

saw the footage. Don't know what to make of it - the helicopter + tank bit seemed cool but damn if the lighting + character models don't seem too great. Tekken's animation has always been clunky so I dunno. I haven't bought a console tekken in ages so I'll probably get this. I wish the graphics were better though

are there people who really impressed by these screens ?! it looks slightly better than Tekken 5 ( but obviously better than that crappy trailer of E3 06 ).

anyway I’m definitely looking forward to Tekken 6, but it’s a massive disappointment for me :(

Leo does not look anything like Paul ?

Paul has that Yankee-masculine head and Leo looks like "Final Fantasy XII-2 Vaan-gone-to-pop-stardom" thingy...

In the other hand Paul did "live" a little in the end of Iron Fist Tournament 4 :D

I don't want to turn this into an argument, but Vaan is not girly at all.
Aside from his original CG art, he looks perfectly like a 17 year old guy should.

I think it looks a shit load better than Tekken 5. And these are small ass screens/video we have, so its hard to see the actual differences. But the model's and environments appear to be a ton better. Only problems I have are the lack of stuff going in the environments and the lack of self shadowing. Added theres another 12 months, give or take, left in development, I'm not disappointed one bit. :D

And for anyone interested in Leo's story, I think it's also an interesting coincidence Leo and Paul both have blue eyes, added with the rest of the long list of similarities I listed earlier. I'm 90% sure they are related in some way.

480x270 screenshots...eh, isn't this 2 pixels less than the PSP resolution? :lol

Looks good although as usual with japanese companies they should put HD media of their HD games :/

Otoh, Konami doesn't get it at all....

Graphically it looks ok. The problem is 3d fighters have been at the forefront graphically for a long time so ok actually ends up being a bit disappointing.

Not impressed.

I don't know what's happened to fighting games this gen. Usually they are the best looking and most "wow" inducing games graphically but I've been pretty underwhelmed with DOA4, VF5 and now Tekken6.

after watching the video, I have no choice but to agree with you :) the game looks very promising, the new 2 characters are awesome ( especially Zafina )
and I really like the environmental design, but yeah the lack of " life " in the backgrounds needs to be fixed.

PS3 games showed some nice improvements over time, so why not Tekken 6 ;)

Why do all next gen fighting games look kind of shitty and unimpressive? The only one that even comes close to having "next gen" street cred is VF5, and even that's not that good looking. Where is the next gen fighter version of Crysis, or GT5, or FFXIII. The one that literally makes you say, "wow."

Mortal Kombat? Believe

The models seem high poly, the enviroments seem empty, everything lacks shader work, but tell me that it doesn't look like next-gen TEKKEN. Everything in that trailer screamed next-gen TEKKEN to me, the way camere was moving and hits were doing their job.

The logo start up is the best ever, so awesome. Actually watching the trailer again, the models are great, but they really lack next-gen shaders to make them look more realistic (normal maps to portray little details like pores), and lighting isn't in place. It looks very bare bones right now.

Leo is totally lame, he would fit TEKKEN 1 roster IMO, Zafina on the other hand looks awesome, she has new style (I don't like it, but it does look very unique), she looks like TEKKEN character. I hope she isn't overpowered.

We really need some HD footage.
Look a th the muscles on these two :

The models seem a generation leap over tekken 5.

And it seems there is some destructible environements :

Don't you have any complaints about the Tekken 2 animations? And I can bet one month's ban that Kazuya will still have his Tekken 1 animation for the Bitch Kicks and 2+4 grab.

Dark Ressurection redid countless amounts of animations from Tekken 5. I was thinking it was all in preparation for the next-gen Tekken where they would redo all of the animations of every character. But oh well, at least we still get the 2007 release date. Hope it comes to Ottawa. We still don't even have a Tekken 5 arcade board. :(

Man they picked some lousy screenshots to showcase the game.

I mean damn it looks like Armor King got punched so hard he shat hairgel everywhere.

Also booo at Namco for re-using animation, course if they actually bothered to change everything they'd probably have to go back to testing for all the balancing issues that would crop up.

The quality of the trailer was poor, how could you wouldn't be able to see that detail even if it was there, and it might be. Also the pics are small, we need high def video and 1080pics!!

T6 graphics look much improved over the E3 footage, and is now pretty decent IMO. For those who think it looks like crap, I really hope that the PS3 arcade hardware isn't using more RAM or something like that compared to the home PS3. You might not even get what you see in the footage. :lol

Wow, Tekken 6 is really a reality check for me.

Again, the Jin target render is apparently anything but a "target." And it seems to me that at least two next-gen fighters look as good as or better than the footage I just saw. (Where's the shaders? Some better lighting would be nice.)

Perhaps it's the traditional Tekken animations that keep me from seeing the "next-gen-iness" on display here, but suddenly, I'm looking at next week's Tekken 5 DR download and thinking that'll hold me just fine. Or maybe I'll give VF5 a shot after all. That DOES look amazing.

P.S. Though I do like Zafina. :)

edit: And didn't MarkMan or whoever say that the E32006 footage was actually a quickly cobbled video made using the Tekken 5 engine? So yeah, I'd EXPECT an upgrade over that, which Tekken 6 seems to be.

T6 looks pretty good, excited to see it in motion.

Silent Hill looks great though... finally a SH I can enjoy. :)

Gun Games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Survival Horror

....I wonder if we'll see a Wii port? :lol

Looks awesome to me!! And the game isn't due until late 2007 anyway guys. Cut em some slack.

BEST LOOKING NAMCO GAME SO FAR!

I am pretty sure they showed the PS3 version there, cause there is no PS3 arcade chipset yet.

Never really had problems with animation, especially since my main characters are Bryan and Jin. Kazuya was heavily enhanced in TK5.

So yeah, I didn't see anything wrong with animation here. I would love them to ad muscle animation (seems they did it already), so everything looks more painful.

The character models definitely look a little better than Tekken 5 and so does some of the backgrounds, but it doesn't feel like a huge leap over Tekken 5. I'll reserve my judgement until Tekken 6 actually comes out in the arcades.

Then again, I didn't think DOA4 t really look that much better than DOA2U on X-box.

SH arcade looks ass, looks like the SH series has just been going downhill since the third game

There is probably no seperate chipsets for this new arcade machine. Just like System 246 being just a PS2 with some little mnior tweeks, this new machine will be using stock Cell and RSX. Only the memory amount is in question for me.

BTW, I'm just gonna throw out the name "System 369". Or "System 357".

Not exactly wow-material, but it's definitely looking good. The character design on the other hand is just plain awful.

...and no, that's not a good thing.

As far as cutting Scamco some slack is concerned, let's remember where this all started from...

tekken_440.jpg

Yeah, everybody knows now that this demo was nothing but a pipedream (and that's being polite). But go back to when this thing was unveiled, and go read what even "respected" media people were saying about it.

I recall Team Ninja being ripped to pieces because they didn't have any self shadowing in DOA4, while AM2 had coded it up for VF5 on the less powerful Lindbergh. This despite Team Ninja having maybe four months of work on the final 360 development kits.

Well Scamco have had final PS3 kits for at least a year now, so what's their excuse? It's great that they improved on last year's shitty demo, but that's not something to pat any half decent developer on the back over.

And as far as this game being early is concerned...well, the same thing was said about DOA4 when the first pics were shown. Maybe the visuals will receive a significant boost, but it's not something I'd hold my breath over.

I think having to run at locked 60FPS might have something to do with it. We haven't seen GT5 so no idea about it, but Crysis was often chugging along at sub 30FPS in E3 videos (while running on some monster PC with SLI 7800s), and FFXIII will almost certainly be a 30FPS game too.
