Silent Hill arcade? Tekken 6 to be shown tomorrow?

OK, finally saw the video (60 fps video - very nice).

It really is extremely disappointing. It's not "bad" looking, but it's certainly not impressive. Heck, the lighting effects in the PS2 version of Tekken Tag were more impressive (at least artistically speaking). They used all sorts of specular effects on surfaces along with some really nice sun glows and what not. Very impressive for its day.

The framerate argument doesn't make much sense...VF's been a 60fps franchise since number 2, even on the friggin' Saturn. And Tekken and DOA have been 60fps franchises throughout their existance on every platform (well, save for Tekken GBA :lol). And they were all among the best looking games at the time of their release.

The fighters not standing out is part of a larger problem...next generation visuals, for the most part, simply haven't stacked up to where I think they should be.

if Leo is a dude he will be my main character.

nothing was more fun than the psychological advantage you got playing as Elliott in his rent boy alternate costume in DOA4.

i actually got pretty good as Elliott, and since most people played as chicks or ninjas most people didn't know how the heck to defend against him.

this is all offline stuff.

i suck ass against the people i played against online.

edit: oh and no official pr/story on silent hill arcade yet? dug through the thread but didn't see anything. i need to write it up but not without a source.

Tekken 6 looks alright but quite underwhelming. Seriously, what's happened to Namco? They were graphics gods on PSX and PS2... still are on PSP for that matter.

WTF is this sh!t? Silent Hill Arcade? Certainly not made the SH Team, if Konami had this in mind for the SH series then no wonder why the SH team wanted out (if the rumor is true).

Im OK with Origins really but this is pushing it. Where is Silent Hill 5. First Britney and now Silent Hill, is like the things I love are going down the drain! *sniff*

Halo/MGS threads - HOLY SHIT ITS ALPHA BUILD WAIT FOR THE FINAL GAME

Tekken/VF5/DOA threads - OMG LAST GEN GRAPHICS IN HD, ITS OVER FOR FIGHTING GAMES LOL

Can you guys even stop and think for wait exactly WHAT Namco will be doing between NOW and November 2007? Jeez

Double standards FTL

Look at this for a second

Tekken 6 has come a long ****ing way... I mean were you guys really expecting some CG like graphics from the company that has given us Crossfire, Frame City Killer, Love Football and Culdeplt? If so LOL @ YOU

Namco have disappointed us, visually speaking, time and again this gen. The two Ridge Racer games are very solid looking, but they do not push either machine in the ways we've come to expect from Namco.

that's why I kept my expectations low (check start of thread) and Tekken 6 met my expectations. I just hope they enhance the lighting for the final game.

Yikes, SH arcade looks quite a bit worse than the actual SH games on PS2...

Still, it might be kind of fun in the end. Based on the visuals shown, I could easily see this on the Wii.

Good grief Namco, do you really hate SH fans? I love lightgun games, but that's the worst shit ever. Heck, even HotD3 looks miles better than that crap.

The only logical reason SH Arcade looks so shitty is that it's being ported to the Wii ASAP. Only logical reason.

I hope that if you beat Pyramid Head w/o being hit, a hole opens in the ceiling and upside down hospital bed Mary attacks as a secret boss.

The logical reason is that the programmers behind the PS2 games have had nothing to do with this title. The poor visuals almost stand as a confirmation that some other B team is working on it...

Looks PS1-level

First Konami shits in my face and then they rub it in with their penis.
Next they'll turn my beloved Rumble Roses X3 and make it into a Tetris clone.

So on one hand they should be given more time, but on the other hand you admit that their visual output has been ****ing shit. So what's the point you're trying to make?

Again, what's the likelihood that T6's visuals are going to see a significant boost between now and release? VF5 and DOA4 certainly didn't.

I think a fairer point to make is that we've only seen four (lame looking) characters and a handful of stages so far, and that the rest of it could look a lot more asthetically pleasing. But I don't see the actual visual level improving much, if at all.

I think it looks very good! All it needs is a little boost in lighting and maybe some stages would benefit from wind/weather effects. Anyway I am happy with what they have shown.

allot of people are judging the graphics for the poly-count and resolution

Tekken 5 DR has a lower polycount but boasts better character models and better lighting

(what lower polygoned characters cannot be better character models) Yes.. design

compare Asuka Kazama from T5 to Asuka Kazama from T6.. big world of difference. In the T5 she looks cool, cute and has character.. in that T6 footage, Namco is trying TOO HARD for the photo-realism and killing of the "character" off the design.

forget about poly count. and focus on character design ..that's what I mean

Awesome character design.

Are you serious? It looks like any random FF character.

I wonder where all these PS3 graphic whores were last gen when the DC manage to stomp it with just a vga box in terms of visual output. Now you get some fixed rate crappy lcds with crappy blacks and suddenly graphics mean something to you. Saying welcome to the club would suffice at this point, but the way you guys whine about graphics now and used the same crap Wii players have a habit of doing is quite funny to see the tables turn.
Sucks to be you BTW I spent less than 500$ on my monitor and calibration setup and it certainly rapes the crap out of yours, Sony GDM-FW900 FTW. I know it sounds hateful but live with it till the mainstream catches up to Hi Resolution developers will get away with this crap.
Good for you.

;_;

Why? Pyramid head looks horrid. ;_; Even the people in the movie industry had enough respect not to make him look dumb as hell. ;_;

I like the large "頭を撃て! Shoot at the Head!" sticker on the front there.

They must think anyone unfortunate enough to play this abortion will think to aim at the pelvis.

Major visual overhauls are not common after a games initial showing. I'm not syaing it won't happen, but to expect it? I wouldn't.

I've been here all along. I've also realized that image quality is FAR from everything.

The VGA output from the Dreamcast (which I took advantage of) was certainly much better than what the PS2 was doing at the time...but there were so many PS2 games doing so much more in other areas. Within the first year, we saw a great number of games on PS2 not only delivering visuals far beyond what the DC was capable of...we also saw these games at 60 fps. These aspects were far more impressive than the DC VGA output.

Oh, and I sure as hell don't use an LCD.

First of, it's a modified model, watch the trailer. Second - the game isn't finished, and definately lacks lighting system and some shaders.

I do see the lighting degradation, and I mentioned it already ;). But the model seems pretty much the same, it's just that Namco didn't put "life" into TK6 yet, it's bare bones right now, with just models in place. At least I hope so, since they were graphics masters on PSX and PS2, and they still are on PSP. Maybe they are just scared of shaders? :)

I'd say a very good chance. 12 more months (+/-) in development? Definately. I think it's obvious the game is still a hard WIP from the trailer itself (showing off the development 2/3rds the way in). DOA4 was pretty much a launch window title, and VF5 was a sega arcade port.

I'm not sure if this is a joke or what. :lol

**** Silent Hill Arcade. **** it. Nice Pyramid Head model. What, is it running on PS1 hardware?

It's great Konami wants to make a quick buck and that's fine, but uh, hey, why don't you show us Silent Hill 5 first? Yeah thanks.

And I don't know what shaders really are truthfully, but it appears that Namco still doesn't know how to use them. I like the characters, but the lighting is just nonexistent.

The self-righteous anger at the whole SH arcade concept is so classically "pretensious nerd".

Shanty is taking last night's unveiling as T6's first showing, which makes sense since what was shown last year was clearly some quickie demo based on a T5 movie. Otherwise you might as well call Jin Sweat's showing in '05 the game's first unveiling. :lol
