Watch from 1:13 and explain to me what causes the massive boost at 1:17.
Then go to 2:05 and e
xplain to me why he uncurls.

I took a look at this last night on my ipod s was too lazy to reply
but I can see what you mean at 1:17,
it's like a scripted speed up so sonic hits the next spring correctly to push him back up the slope.
damn scripted areas, sonic 1 and 2 had
little to zero of these outside of sonic 2's earthquakes or lava rises, nothing was there to force sonic unless you became stuck in a pipe then the game would give you a gentle nudge, n
ot stick you into top gear instantly like this game does.
I am disappoint.

Sonic just Rolled out of a big loop and DOWN a slope in ball form...although that camera angle zoom in makes it look like he going quicker...that actually proper physics...Sonic actually had built up enough of a burst to continue rolling at high speeds...that not a fucking scripted event...:/
****
Sonic UNCULRS whenever Sonic's rolling is going too slow...its part of a (IMO Better) Spindash system that incorporates the instant spindash (the one that takes no actual revving).
Uncurling isn't player controlled. After you slow down enough (or because of a script event) Sonic uncurls. You can perform a low jump to get yourself out of a rolling state and perform another Spindash (like the old games). Any speed you did build up before is lost as you still have to do a full stop to perform another one (Old school).
In SA1 you could spam it endlessly. In Generations, you have to be uncurled in order to use it.
In other words all it is is a Spin Dash without the need of reving and you can go into it
while running, but that's about it and is really not that much of a change or anywhere near GAMEBRAKING.
If you don't fucking like it you can play the game the OLD WAY STILL! ITS NOT THAT FUCKING SERIOUS!
It simpler terms....
Spin Dash > Roll at top speed > slow down enough to uncurl > Spindash
Or Spindash > Roll at top speed > timed lowjump when decelerating > Uncurl > Spindash. (Like The Old Games)
Its not as easy as it looks to do properly and the game is not built upon INSTANT spindash either...its not like Unleashed/Rush where the game is built upon the boost button.
Or play it the old way 100% and don't use the Instant Speed Dash button...Its THAT EASY! If you REALLY cared that much about "getting you classic Sonic fix" just pretend its not there or is it in the back of people's mind the classic experience wasn't as great as you thought it was....hmmmmm?
Taking advantage of whatever Sonic's new abilities he had to make good runs though was always part of the game...that's like getting mad at Sonic3&K because the flame shield made the level faster. Scripted parts I get...but its not like SCRIPTED PARTS where NEVER in the classics...they ALWAYS were. Angel Island Zone probably has the biggest scripted event in the entire series. Seriosuly, replay the games without nostalgia goggles...it really helps giving you insight of certain things.
It would be boring if they didn't implement new elements to make speed running somewhat challenging to do every time. Because just like people like to explore and platform...people also enjoy SPEED RUNNING.
Why must Genesis Sonic be limited to some upgrades?
What's wrong with adding a bit of preference?

Yea my heart sank when I saw that. First thing that's really make me have that oh so familiar feeling of.... oooh shit what are you doing Sega. =( I wouldn't mind if it rolled you up into a ball and sort of prodded you on a bit like in the classics, but.. THAT is ridiculous and will hopefully be fixed before release... Yea..?? Right??

Play chemical plant again....eat you fucking heart out! There has always been scripted fucking events in the classics (abiet more of them where semi scripted but that not the point)..they add 2 events in Green Hill Zone...people go ape shit? Really? Hell we don't even 100% know yet since nobody has tried going up the S tubes yet...
Sonic Cycle? Generations doesn't even come close...
