Anyone see the meltdown over at the SRK forums after the Wii announcement? Christ on a stick. :lol
I am reading it right now.

They are wallowing in their own mis-information.

My god.

to be fair, I never attended the original thread as, though I am a fighter fan and a huge fan of both companies, japanese arcade games hold zero interest for me being they NEVER come to my city. this is 10000000000 times more interesting to me (as would any home console version have been except for 360, due to region locks not easily broken)

To be even more fair, that excuse is kind of lame. The assumption is usually a fighting game, especially from a big company like Capcom, will eventually end up on consoles. This assumption is almost always correct with very few exceptions. If you really cared about the game or were truly a fighting fan you would have been in the main thread speculating which console it would inevitably appear on with everyone else.

american consoles? really? should we count the number of capcom fighting games that have never made it to the US, and to top that off capcom fighting games that have never made it to the US on consoles that are a pain in the ass to mod for import?

sorry, but the high and mighty act won't work on me. I don't give a shit about arcade games in japan because I will never get to play them over here, and simply can't give a shit on JPN-exclusive fighting games for any systems other than the XBox (softmod), GCN (freeloader), or PS3 (region free). And having not known hardly anything about the game (such as being developed on Wii hardware) there would be little reason to expect this game to hit a console that is actually import friendly knowing capcom. Since now reading this thread I have found out (hence my question earlier) that I CAN play this with a wii softmod.

sorry, but I'm just not so obsessive that I hunt down news about every title in every genre I enjoy even if said title has virtually no chance of ever being played by me. the fact that's not the case with this one is now a pleasant surprise.

edit - and for the record, this game has ALWAYS interested me, simply for being a 30something adult whose first exposure to anime was through tatsunoko with botp, gforce, robotech macross, etc. but knowing that there is zero chance for this coming stateside along with believing that it would never hit a import friendly console (and not knowing the wii was at the point of being easy to mod) gave me little reason to say more beyond "heh, that's clever"

Oh shit, this I need to see. SRK going mad? Bwahahahahahah

Sad. The Wii just can't win in some gamers eye. It's either it doesn't have games they want or if said games show up on the Wii they bitch and want it on other consoles. They would even take a downgraded port on the PS2. Hypocrites much?

So I guess people cant just view the thread without posting. I have been watching the crazy vids of this and havent posted once, but Im not posting in a thread just to speculate which console it will go to, I hate that shit.

High and mighty? Chill dude. First of all you never specified American consoles. Second of all no matter what you say I don't count you as a fighting game fan if you didn't show interest in Capcom's first "VS" game since MvC2 until it was announced on Wii.

edit: Okay your edit says you were interested. I guess I just took your 'didn't attend the original thread' comment to mean 'wasn't interested so I didn't click'.

obsessive fan? no, definitely not. but I have certainly enjoyed my fair share of fighting time over a nice collection of titles and have been looking to step things up with a custom sstick before SFIV arrives (which of course will do me no good with this :P)

SlaughterX's meltdown was a nice read in this thread. As for a US version, I'm not holding my breath.

I've been considering a Jp Wii, this pretty much guarantees my purchase.

YESSSSS.

Finally, a modern Capcom fighter comes to the Wii! O HAPPY DAY! :D :D :D :D :D

Now I want to know Capcom's solution to bringing the engine to Western audiences... maybe substituting Marvel characters and environments. :lol j/k

This better look pixel per pixel as good as the arcade version or someone will fucking die.

Now I have to buy fighting sticks for the fucking wii. Damn you capcom

Hot damn! I forgot all about this. Wii buy for SamSho and KOF:OC. I hope TvC has a limited edition print with a fighting stick. I remember hearing the Hori sticks aren't that good from somewhere on GAF...I think it was from Donkey show. They look awesome aesthetically at least :p

The arcade board this game runs off of is quite beefy. I don't see how the Wii could runt he game and if it did it would take some significant downgrading. Isn't that just extra development cost for Capcom? I mean it would run like butter on the PS3/360 and the porting would be relatively simple.

Poor guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Nothing that runs on Wii hardware ever looks good.

Even when it does run on Wii hardware it looks better when it's not known that it runs on Wii hardware. :(

Well the Wii port is known to run on Wii hardware so it is guaranteed to look like shit.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

MvC2 was released after CvSNK2?

And since when did being a fan (especially fighting games seeing as how most do get American releases) require being an importer? Last I checked that group is what's known as "obsessive".

Such a meltdown over a game most people haven't heard of, let alone cared about, before this announcement. TGS is going to be hilarious

I just saw that freeloaders won't work with with firmware 3.3. How do you check which version of firmware you're on? Come hell or high water I'm going to play this game and Nintendo will not stop me!

In wii settings, it'll show up in the top right corner.

You could install the homebrew channel if you're not under 3.3 anyway.

Hacking and Homebrew scares the shit out of me. Still haven't put custom firmware on my PSP and I haven't Jailbroken my iPhone either. I'm always scared I'm going to brick it or royally screw something up.

Its pretty much impossible to brick, as it doesn't deal with firmware.

The absolute worst-case scenario is that an error occurs and the wii just restarts.

So if I install the homebrew channel to do this, there is nothing Nintendo can do about it? No future firmware, games, or anything that will limit anything I can do on the Wii?

What if my Wii breaks someday and I need to send it in to Nintendo to have my VC games transfered to a new Wii. Are they going to take one look at the Homebrew Channel and say "Your broke the ToS kid, your out of luck"?

I have MVC2 for Dreamcast...controller is way better.

I also heard the emulation of MVC2 on the 360 is nearly unplayable.
That's too bad about MvC2 on 360.

It's okay though because I play the arcade version every few days. :P

But still, Third Strike. ;_;

Thanks for the correction.

When did I say importing was a requisite of being a fan? Maybe you need to reread my posts. I said not being interested in this game until it was announced for Wii would incline me to exclude you from the fighting game fan label. Since then Borghe has stated he was very much interested in the game before it was announced for Wii.

And I'm not sure about your "most get American releases" comment, but whatever you say ace.

Thanks for the fanboy meltdowns, Capgod! :lol

let's not kid ourselves. two words: friend codes ;_;
Here're two better words: not mandatory. This would only use friend codes if Capcom wants it to.
