Mate you're approach is not honest, not reasonable. Naught Dog games have a track record you know?
In what way does any of that address the claim that a 10/10 is by definition a reasonable extreme and a 0/0 somehow is not?
This is the glaring problem with some of the people defending the perfect scores at all costs. I have no problem whatsoever with 10/10s. I've said as much repeatedly. My default position is that people are being sincere. They loved the game, they awarded it a 10/10. That's enough for me. I'm not going to question their motivations.
By the same token, theoretically, I don't have a problem with 0/0s. My assumption is people really disliked TLoU2, for whatever reason, and are expressing their profound distaste, perhaps symbolically, perhaps hyperbolically.
Now notice the mental gymnastics of some posters:
All 10/10s are genuine. All 0/0s are bullshit. All 10/10s are from people who finished the game. All 0/0s are form people who never even touched it.
So that pep talk about honesty and integrity, you take it up with the people who badly need it, ok?
This anomalie happening right know cannot possibly be explained by honest criticism of the actual game.
It's an ideological battle between political fractions and you whole-heartedly support it.
Not true at all.
What I don't support is the view that all 10/10s - even the thousands posted
ahead of launch - are by angelic disinterested creatures who are merely expressing their honest opinion, whereas all 0/0s are by evil alt-righters who never touched the game and are bent on destroying Naughty Dog.
Where is the evidence for any of that?
An sincere and genuine person would never do such a thing. A honest judgment would be to criticise whatever agenda or mechanics they dislike, but nevertheless respect a good work done.
Yes, the only honest opinions are the ones you can somehow see yourself reflected in. You really need to affirm that pep talk about honesty.
Unlike you, I have no problem with
some scores. My default assumption is that they're
all genuine, all sincere, all idiosyncratic, until proven otherwise. The moment evidence pops showing this or that score is fake, that's the moment I believe it. Not before.
I am not selective about it. I don't deem the opinions I disagree with dishonest and the ones I agree with honest. I leave that cheap trick to others.
A 0 out of 10 is a straight political evaluation
So would a 10/10.
The problem with that statement is that much like there's no universal meaning to a 10/10, there's no universal meaning to a 0/0. In
your scale, sure, 0/0 don't exist, because no unplayable mess warrants it. Again, there's objective scale from 0 to 10 everybody has agreed to. Just like a 10/10 doesn't mean a perfect game, a 0/0 doesn't necessarily mean the opposite.
I think it's really easy to spot who's being honest in this discussion, between those who start by taking all scores at face value, and those who only take some, the ones they by sheer coincidence happen to agree with.
Ultimately, if you present convincing evidence, I'll abandon my default position.
