No AA in UE3 titles so far.

If the xbox360 allows for hardware FP10 blending AND AA for cheap, not having AA with UE3 seems kind of like taking a step backwards, since it's not like they can even do FP16 and have to sacrifice AA. It makes me wonder how ultimately hardware specific UE3 really is, and how much graphics of games using UE3 will be held back compared to things later in the generation using engines custom tailored to the hardware itself.

It's just a picture of him, it's not like he was photoshopped to look more rotund, there can never be too much Dyack for SK fans to love anyway.

Ein? Unreal Engine doesn't have Antialiasing. Not in Xbox 360, PC or PS3. The reason is the lighting / shadowing engine and how it is implemented. It isn't a problem with HDR and AA.

100 million budget? 10 years in development time? 30 FPS ambitious plan? The next "God of War" killer?

Could this be the biggest flop in gaming history ever?

I wonder whose idea it was to blow up the first set of 720p pics to 1080p... I know TeamXbox doesn't do that...

Anyways, I've never played any of these guys games before, but visually the game looks good, so I'm waiting to see it run when it's near-final...

not having AA in UE3 is the engine's fault, not the 360's. the Engine forgot to add support for tiling.

Yeah, like most people said this looks pretty crappy, especially given the monsterous budget which could be forgiven if the game actually played well, unfortunatly that doesn't seem to be the case.

*sigh*, as usual this thread devolved into the usual GAF elitism tripe and insults. And no one here seems to be able to grasp the simple concept that THE GAME ISN'T FINISHED YET!!!

These pics ARE from the disastrous E3 build and as someone said, they've been resized to make them even look worse.

here's the latest interview with Denis which was posted in another thread which died quickly: http://interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/1648/Too-Human-Interview/p1/

Q: We know, and everyone should have in mind, that the games we see at E3 are always a work in progress, but we’d still like you to address some feedback Too Human received at the show – specifically the framerate and camera issues.

Denis Dyack: We suffered from significant technology issues with the engine that we licensed. Those issues affected pretty much everything in the E3 build. These issues will be worked out and fixed well before the game hits the store shelves. During game development, a game is always in flux and depending on when you choose to look at game you can get a very different impression of it. E3 might not have been our finest hour, but the final game is all that counts.

Q: For the final game, are you shooting for a target framerate, then populate the screen to meet that target? Or would you freely design the levels and action on screen and then tweak the code to assure a minimum playable framerate? Will you goals or targets change depending on single player or a multiplayer scenario?

Denis Dyack: We plan to be at least 30fps. There are various methodologies to accomplishing this. We are confident that we will get there.

Q: If there is one aspect of Too Human that you feel the public hasn’t captured yet, what would it be?

Denis Dyack: We think people have yet to realize what the game is in its entirety. The combat portion of the game that we showed at E3 only gave players a small taste of what we have in store.
Q: do you plan to release a playable demo of Too Human on Xbox Live Marketplace?

A: We feel that Marketplace demos have great possibilities and we would like to do one - hopefully before the game hits the shelves

Q: Nowadays you don’t ask a developer the release date of a game, but do you feel that Too Human will ship this year?

A: We will ship the game when it is ready

Q: When can we expect the next deluge of Too Human info?

A: The next time we feel the game is ready to show. The details will come in time.

So Dyack is now blaming EVERYTHING about the poor E3 demo on UE3 of all things? If that's the case why couldn't they have come up with their own engine if UE3 wasn't good enough for them? And it's not like they were going for ambitious things that no one has ever done before technically and the engine simply couldn't handle it, and the engine is only as good as the programmers working with it, that's a telling tale of the caliber of Dyack's programmers.

And it was never JUST frame-rate, it was frame-rate AND MOSTLY the gameplay design being broken, they were trying to rip off what other developers did a hundred times better YEARS AGO (their juggling and shooting mechanics is a primitive JOKE compared with the DMC1 DEMO in 2000), and trying to use the right analog stick for melee when it has long been proven that something like that doesn't work (the analog sticks are INHERENTLY less much responsive in terms of the input of moves quickly, both physically the sticks themselves just not being built for that purpose and the way the thumbs move them), the gameplay design was a MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM than the framerate ever was, for a brand new IP, it's not really doing anything new in that demo, and it was doing it WORSE than what other games have already done four or five years ago.

Oh, they're going to fix all of the engine problems before release? Just like Twin Snakes? :lol

dunno if it's legit or not, but that was the reason given like litterally right after E3. something about Epic changing/adding a feature to the UE3 engine if i remember correctly... readinto that as you will. Other UE3 games were looking silky smooth.

so we're not allowed to rag on any game ever now, until its 100% final and instores? Bull. If they release screens and videos, they are intended for the mass public and to make judgements on. If they look like shit, they look like shit. Crap like Bad Boys: Miami Takedown doesn't get a free pass when threads are made to laugh at lousy pics, why should Too Human?

I have faith that the games will turn out amazing. When EGM played the game for their coverstory before E3 they gave it nothing but praise. But then the SK implimented something new into it and couldn't get the E3 demo to play correctly. Wait and see I guess.

Every video game mag/site did as well, now they look like douches.

On a semi-related note, I challenge you to find a negative preview of a game(nevermind a game on the level of hype of TH). :p Video game "journalists" only start noticing crappy shit about a game when it's released, for one reason or another. They always try to put a positive spin on their previews, no matter how crappy the games may be.

If the engine cant support a streaming technology which would allow no loading times on the game (this screwed up the framerate and camera) then its the engine's fault for not being compatible with the technology. You cannot stop development of a game just for E3 (preperation of around a month and a half) and have the game delayed, Fortunately for them the streaming made the fps and camera a turd and now the game is delayed till around Q2 2007 at best to fix these issues. The problem is that the animation for the fighting just isnt there yet in Too Human. The too human artists enlisted a martial arts legendary experts to do fighting scenes but those moves have not been implemented yet into the game because of the streaming technology phckup. The problem with the camera is that when the streaming technology was implemented the level was supposed to load the entire environment in the level all the way up the the top floors, the dungeons and other rooms with no loading and that made the camera pan too far back instead of having it like you see in the screenshots (closeup), due to the camera panning all the way back and framerate due to incompatibility with the streaming technology, the game which was shown at E3 looked significantly worse than what was shown a month before. Even the guys at the 1up yours said the same thing about it "looking worse" due to the change implemented in UE3. No other UE3 games were affected because they were not using this streaming technology.

Yep, if you bought games magazines had nothign but praised about in their previews you'd be buying nearly every game they preview.
