Funny thing is people were shitting on the beta in the same way, its really nothing new.
Having criticism is different from shitting on something. Blind praise gets you nowhere.
The people you keep shitting on (because this is probably the third or fourth post where you're attacking other people in this very thread, so I'd say the term is very apt) are the part of the fanbase that's dedicated enough to give feedback instead of not bothering and silently dropping the game for something else.

When you're talking about something as pure as a competitive, arena-type game like this, mild changes to the shooting model, pacing, hit detection, etc are very hefty in the end.

It's not like they can add in a bunch of design alterations to scenario design, sub systems, ability design, etc like some online RPG. Core game-play is mostly all that's there and ripples make waves.
Balancing is always like this. Small changes have huge consequences, some of which are often completely unforeseen at first.

I think the maps are mostly very nice, but the speed throws them off. I don't care for the aesthetics of the desert but that's a personal qualm. There's nothing quite as nice as The Village from UC2 yet though, now that was a map to remember.
The Village is still one of my favorite maps overall. Oh, the memories.

So I'm definitely on the I don't like this beta train. Everything is just too fast and I don't feel like I can keep up with anything. So I figure I will try to turn down the sensitivity, but then I quickly realized that doesn't slow anything down other then myself and I died more.

Honestly this is going to be the let down of the Fall for me. I will still enjoy single player, but I doubt I will touch mulitplayer past level 30. (Going to get accuracy boosters before I quit 100%) I'm skeptical that this has anything to do with my problem though, I will admit I play better with those boosters, but I never had a huge issue in the first beta killing without it.

I am curious though out of all the people who do like it better, what is the proportion of those players who are really hardcore FPS fans (Halo, Gears, COD, Battlefield) Game to me just feels like it's trying to compete with all of those rather than serving it's own unique niche.

Honestly, Uncharted 2 is my most played MP this gen and I'm still enjoying this quite a bit. It definitely is a tad faster than I would like, but it feels like a funeral in here. I've had success with long gun play, and obviously I've had success with run and gun/melee but I had the same success in the beta back in June. It's different from the one in June, but not too much worse IMO. If they slowed down the movement, at least the sprint, and bring back some of those hit indication sounds, I think I'd feel pretty much content with the MP.

I am not attacking anyone am I? just saying people complain about these things in the last beat and they change it, now its a problem again. Its just hard to follow these things now.

So I'm having a different problem than you guys are talking about. When I play this, whether Im playing by myself or splitscreen, after a while my controller stops controlling my character and he just goes in the direction he was going until he gets stuck on a wall. When it happens in split screen, both characters do this at the same time. Is there something up with my internet connection? Is anyone else having this issue?

Sarcastic remarks do count as attacks, imho. Yes, people complained, there were changes, and those changes aren't perfect. So what? Balancing is an iterative process, and they will hopefullt be fixed (as long as the issues are raised and not hidden under the carpet for circle jerks that ultimately benefit no one). What's there to follow besides the discussion (AKA the feedback) about the multiplayer?

Not just you judging by some other posters in here. Hopefully just a glitch that ND will fix in the future.

That's very weird. Have you tried playing different games to make sure there isn't something wrong with your controllers (like interferences or something)?

EDIT:

Whoops, guess it's the game then. Still, very weird.

I'm also surprised this wasn't mentioned...or maybe it's just happening to me, but when you pull down someone, the camera angle goes into this terrible angle that you don't see anything while you're performing the pulldown. Same thing when you bang someone in the head while they're hanging on a ledge. And another thing regarding the camera angles...in the London Underground map, every time I respawn, my camera is automatically placed upwards as if I'm manually looking upwards the instant I spawn back.

Yep! This is what makes Uncharted special. It's not about being super-awesome-headshot-guy. It's about evasion; rolling, dodging, climbing, running around corners, getting the better position, etc. It's why the maps are designed the way they are, with multiple levels and twists and turns and more. There are lots of games that play slow with one shot to the head. Why do people need another one?

Haha, no way dude. Uncharted is and was always about taht even after all the patches to uncharted 2. The original version was fairly terrible and outright imbalanced, they just made the game better with patches.

I wish the camera would just stay where ever it is like in Uncharted 2, you can make it look as cinematic as you want. The weird static camera angles are disorienting and actually not very cinematic.

Anyone else feel like you're still waiting for the spawn timer sometimes because you're still in that first person view until you move?

Neither happened to me.

This must be sarcasm.

This happened to me in the Desert Village map. I think it's because the spawn point is too close to the wall.

This happened to me once last night. I had to quit out via XMB.

Not at all, and I logged a tremendous amount of hours in to Uncharted 2. How people could prefer the cheese filled unbalanced version that was the original MP is beyond me. They just balanced out all the options and smoothed out the experience.

I logged a tremendous amount of hours into Uncharted 2 as well, and I'm sad to hear that was not sarcasm. I guess we just have different definitions of "better", "balanced" and "smoothed out".

More is not always better. Naughty Dog should have stopped at character/clan customization, created about ten new maps, and then they should have called it a day. No one was clamoring for kick backs, sprinting, etc. and all of this other superfluous bullshit that they added to the game. The more you add to a game like this, the higher chance that balancing gets thrown out of whack. Keep it simple. Guerilla Games had to learn this the hard way and so will Naughty Dog. It's not even that the multiplayer is ambitious is what makes this so bad. All they did is take a great template from Uncharted 2 and make it as much like Call of Duty as they possibly could. Simplicity has its advantages.

The sprint speed is the big problem,
the normal movement speed is just about right.

And they need to reduce speed when aiming so people are not doing crazy sidesteps.

Lol wut? The changes to uncharted 2 were a travesty.

Oh, you mean when Evan comes in and confirms all the changes we already called?
That's not what's written in the revisionist history books.

Yeah they just balanced it by having all weapons kill you in two shots.

Hyperbole of course. The weapons that did that were extremely limited. You had to be aware of all your traversal options and paid the price for just running around like a moron. There wasn't this huge disconnect between player skill in all areas of the game, and actual results. By lowering the gapping disparity between fire arms and melee it provided a much less frustrating and much more consistent experience.

I have been doing nothing but sprinting and shooting with the uzi and I've been doing ten times better. I think I even got top score a few times.

I love when someone tries to shoot me and I run up to them and kill them with a few shots and a melee. When I unlock more ammo I think I will become Death.

Please make this like the beta Naughty Dog. It is killing me to play like this

Yep, consistently bad.

thumbs up for degenerate strategies

So what people want change right now?Is the speed the main problem?

It's the combination of extra health, high speeds, and large recoil. Honestly I thinkthey could fix any one of those and be fine

When headshotting people with the MAG 5 doesn't feel satisfying, you know there is something wrong with the game. I really can't explain, I mean, the game is fine but it seems like they sucked the soul out of it.

DON'T TOUCH HEALTH

Fix speed, recoil, hit boxes

Who plays Uncharted for the multiplayer? Clearly it's a single player game and the multiplayer is just "icing".
UC2 had 60k people playing it per day compared to 2k of Killzone 2. There is a reason why people liked it so much.

Yea, like I said, they could almost fix any one thing and it would bring it better in balance. It's crazy that they found the exact combination that makes for a worse game.

Is it really as bad as every says it is? I thought the original beta was good...

It's not terrible, but it's not the beta either. They've cheapened the feel of the game with the increased speed, weird hitboxes and dodgy gun handling. Now the game is about who gets the most blindfire hits in before both players melee each other at the same time. (usually ends up in a double kill with one player dying 2 seconds after the fact).

Massa said:
Those numbers don't seem very accurate to me.

Killzone 2 stats website shows 2087 unique players in the last 24 hours, 17704 for the week. Wouldn't put too much stock into those figures considering the age of KZ2 and the current popularity of KZ3.

Uncharted 2 before patches had those horrible OP grenades...

I'm curious does anybody actually throw grenades back? As in if someone tosses a grenade to you, you press triangle to toss one back.

So after playing 2nd time, I can definitely see where the circle blind fire+melee complaints are coming from....people are doing that much more often than what I played yesterday. I hope they'll good solution to stop that.

But yeah, I'm still pretty good with GMAL aiming far away, but of course close up it's garbage.

so is everyone using "NeoGaf" as a tag? I am about to play and i might just put it up

I think the thing that needs the most fixing is the hit box/detection, wow when someone hits me 3 feet from my body and i die, or i shot a guy 5 times in the head and he doesnt go down.

I already like this better than UC2 MP for the simple fact that people who quit get replaced. Trying to play 6 v. 3 area control games was god awful, and then being penalized for not wanting to waste your time with it was salt in the wound. It seemed like it was molded after the Halo method of not replacing anybody and it was stupid. Making people wait 90 seconds on a black screen never actually made them less likely to leave if they didn't like the map vote.

The beta in June was already smooth performance wise, much better than the current BF3 debacle, and they have another month to tweak things for the retail release. I'm pretty happy so far.
