maybe the EU PSN+ build tries to access the stats database that is already filled with data from the Subway build, hence the conflict and the crash, but that wouldn't explain people that didn't play the Subway version having lockups also... mmm, interesting, so now Subway vs EU can't play together? and another question, is the EU PSN+ the only one valid for keeping the unlocks and stats for EU accounts? this is, do EU accounts playing the subway promo get to keep the unlocks or not? mmmm lots of questions here.

I was able to log into MP without freezing. Haven't tried finding a match yet, though. I deleted a U3 file in the game data directory before installing the EU beta. Maybe doing that could help you guys that are freezing?
How is it different from the Kiss taunt in the Subway beta?
 
Jeezus. Spent like 4 or so hours trying to get my last remaining treasures in Plunder and TDM, even with the lv2 Treasure Hunter booster. SO MUCH FUCKING SUBWAY SHIT. Hell, there was a Plunder game I played where I killed like 4 guys in the span of 10 seconds and they ALL dropped treasures. But guess what? 1 treasure was a repeat, 1 was just cash, and 2 were Subway shits.

But I finally have all of the unique guns, minus the ones you can only get in Hardcore. No idea how the hell we're supposed to get treasures in Hardcore when Treasure Hunter doesn't work. Seriously, drops are like 1% without the booster, 10% with lv1, and like 30% with lv2.

After switching from Subway to EU beta, I now get a pop-up for every booster I've levelled up every time I log in. I also have to sync level data every time. :/

Also, Subway Drake has been replaced with Redshirt Drake, heh. Need a voucher code for him too.

treasure hunting is the new prestige

i think having a buddy with the same booster would be a great help since both of you get the treasure

Yeah the trick is definitely to have both you and your buddy use Booty Buddy and Treasure Hunter if you want things to go faster.

The same buddy system applies with cash if you both use the first cash booster in slot 1 with Deposit.

Does Booty Buddy work for both kill-treasures and chests?
 
I'm fucking horrible at this game. Too much time playing first person shooters I guess. Because of that playing in 3rd person view seems awful to me. Hopefully by spending more time playing it wont feel so awful.

ok so deleting both game data and saves for both the US beta and the EU beta worked, i guess it needed to start everything afresh to stop the freezing

ND has temporarilly stopped the US and EU betas mixing to locate the problem, that's prob why it's working now. Lets hope they sort it quick!
 
Played some more, Lv 25-ish, and slowly getting used to gun handling. I'm getting familiar with map layout as well, and thanks to that knowledge and better weapon handling, mad sprinters give me less trouble. I think I've also seen less of them, but that might just be me.
 
Some people complained about maps like Lost City in Uncharted 2 being too symmetrical but they needed to be that way so that neither side had an advantage for objectives or reaching power weapons. Near the heroes' chest in Syria the villains can camp up next to the tower (the one that you enter for the climbing section in co-op) and have a clear view of the other team's chest and the surrounding area. They can be a real nightmare to flush out of there, especially if they have a buddy spawning on them, and there's little to stop them going back there if you don't guard it. There's also a T-bolt spawn up there. The villains' chest is in a comparatively enclosed area and it's much harder to try and snipe into the area. The other T-bolt spawn on the map is in a place that has a clear view of the hero chest but not of the villain one.

In London Underground the villains' chest is in an area where you can be attacked from virtually angle. There are even platforms above that the enemy team can take cover and shoot from. The area is intersected by train tracks so the treasure has to be picked up and thrown across, since you have no defences while picking up the treasure and the pistol is a piece of shit you stand no chance if someone attacks you while you do this. The heroes' chest has pretty much no obstacles along the way, there are much fewer directions you can be attacked from and in fact is only really difficult if the game spawns the enemy team at your side of the map. When the treasure spawns on the upper section of what I'm going to call the left side of the map (from the heroes' perspective) it actually gives the hero team a stairway that they can easily take the treasure down straight to their chest.

It's incredibly frustrating that Naughty Dog didn't account for objective modes when designing their maps, especially their best and the signature Uncharted mode. It was one of my big problems with the DLC maps and I hate that it's been carried over.

I could not disagree with this more. I am so, so, so, so, so sick of symmetrical maps. Every game these days is just symmetrical arenas. I love playing competitive shooters in something a bit more organic... like in Quake 1 and 2 just using a single player level and putting a flag at each end for CTF. Was it balanced perfectly? Of course not, but it was unique and fun.

Socom 1 and 2 had some fabulous non symmetrical maps. Socom 4 is all symmetrical arena with perfectly placed waist high cover. It bums me out.
 
So you feel having a treasure chest location out wide in the open for one team and the other team's chest is protected on all sides is fair/good map design?

Lolwut? Maybe it's just the games I'm playing but the ones with symmetrial maps seem to be the exception to me. Could you give some examples of all these modern games with symmetrical maps? Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 (which had a few exceptions) are the main ones I can think of. I think in KZ3 the symmetrical maps were the exception and I only played the Socom 4 beta but even in it each side of the map had quite a lot of differences but it was just designed to not give either side an advantage. And I'm not even demanding perfectly mirrored maps, just don't give one side a significant advantage like Airstrip, for example.
 
lost city was an amazing map. I loved the water. I loved it for plunder. so good. it needs to come back. in fact, a lot of the u2 maps are great.

anyhow, FINALLY got my cloaked LVL2 upgrade. Felt sorry for the people I played with because obviously when you're out to do 1 thing, you're not going to be plundering/team objectifying. Died a fuck of a lot. Had to train myself to work with R3 for sprint - L3 just wasn't doing it for me and I don't know why its not set to that by default. Plus L3+sprint would hurt my thumb too. With R3, you get that it is a "click to run" setup.

@ARNE if you ever come back to gaf - hey plunder is wonderful; whatever the complaints about guns etc el. You can actually transport treasure back and the 1 hit melee thing also works. Its my favourite game mode and whatever adjustments you make - please please please ensure that the current traversal and plunder game isn't fucked by it. At least not back to U2's level of unplayability.

hey EURO gaf - did any of you have your stats carry over to the euro game from the US ed? Would love to know. Hopefully some of you tried without deleting the game.
 
Having loot specific to a game mode is the wrong way to go about this whole treasure thing IMO. You hook people because they're playing their favorite game mode and have a __% chance of getting a drop, not by forcing them to play something they don't want to.

I think it encourages you to play all modes - its not like there's really any bad modes - I played them all and find each to have their own merits.

* while trying to do the assassin medals - I thought sprint wasn't fast enough :P
 
Wow fuck this game. I'm deleting it. Fix the guns. Keep the speed. Lower recoil on everything goddamnit, if you have to add autoaiming in scoped mode.

Yeah sure, but not everyone wants to play everything. I, for example, won't put any more time than needed to get the drops in FFA or 3TDM since I'd be having a better time in Plunder or Team Objective. It just seems to be opposing the whole idea of a random drop loot system by making me play other modes in search of exactly the item(s) I want.

Gears of War = symmetrical almost to the point of funny (if it wasn't so boring design-wise). One side is literally the mirror image of the other.

I have to say though, I like most of Uncharted's map designs. For some reason I seem to only be able to play on 3 maps total. I have no idea how to play on the others.
 
I've been going out of my way to observe my kills...Most of them actually are from aiming (M9 though, so no crazy recoil).
Sure, in close quarters I will use blindfire, but that's no different than in the beta/UC2.

Don't get me wrong, recoil/sprint still need to be toned down. But its not that bad.

Yeah it reminds me of having to play certain modes in CODBLOPS to get the Pro perks, which didn't seem popular to me. No-one wants to play CTF to get Marathon pro and I don't want to play regular TDM just to complete a certain treasure set. And based on how the drops are in this I would have to play a lot of it too.

Apparently they do, Subway stuff changes to the EU equivalent too. So they are saying on the ND forums.

Damn what happened to this game. It's very unfun to me. It's kill and get killed. Played a few rounds and almost anyone had as many kills as deaths. Besides, I don't find it fun at all. It's not fun to shoot and everything moves so fast you barely have time to zoom in. Even when I manage to start hitting something, he doesn't go down after what feels like hundreds bullets. Most of my deaths had me hit by a grenade blast and quickly executed with melee.

Guess this is just not for me. Odd since I did enjoy U2 MP a lot.

Will buy for single player.
 
stats carry over fine from US to EU beta, just gotta delete all game data/saves and start fresh to avoid freezes.

subway items just disappear though, i had a hat and t-shirt on but it reverted back to regular villian, also paid boosters are regular colour and there are no subway treasures - subway is totally gone in the EU version which is fucking great.

played for a good while now without lag, scores improved a lot, and now that the connection issues are out the way i found definitive proof of shots not hitting, so that needs to be fixed asap

it was fun when i was going beast mode, but nothing like that beta

Why did Naughty Dogg have to fuck it up, the Beta was nearly perfect, they should have tweaked a few things from the Beta, not change thw whole thing up. It's a shame as it was going to be my go to multiplayer game after having a blast on the Beta, but after ths new shitty build I am having second thoughts, am just not having as much fun. Also where is Arne, can he confirm if they are going to make any changes on this build (preferably back to how it was on the Beta)

It would seriously do wonders if Arne could come out and alleviate some of the worries here. Really reconsidering a day one purchase at this point.

Looks like it, but then again that may change. At the very least I think we'll still have our levelling intact. It goes public in the EU after the 19th Oct (or so the blog implies), so swapping over to an EU 'save' could be done then if needed.
