Green chile cheeseburger at Bobcat Bite. Santa Fe, NM. I grew up about 10 minutes away and miss it dearly. This place usually ends up on top ### burger lists and for good reason.

Not a fan of the brontosaurs sized patties. You're just eat wads of ground meat.

it says Kobe beef on the menu so you're saying they are lying ?

What about the place?

You come across as very elitist.

Yes they are lying.

It's a tourist trap.

Why yes, yes I am. But a 50 year old Irish Pub under an elevated subway and in the most diverse neighborhood in the world is hardly elitist.

There used to be a little place near me when I was in college that was modeled after a 1950's diner. Themed meals, smallish menu. They made the most fantastic cheeseburger. Perfect seasoning, perfect size, grilled over an open flame. Fresh buns that they made in house. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes from a local farmer's market.

During my third year of college the family that owned it sold it off, and the new owners started making burgers with patties, old shredded lettuce, buns from a supplier, etc. Broke my damned heart.

Had a chance to try one of those sous vide burgers a few weeks back because one of my friends has been pretty into that damn machine.

I wouldn't mention it specifically if it wasn't indeed one of the most magnificent tasting things I've EVER eaten.

Local: The double cheeseburger at the Workingman's Friend in Indianapolis.

Overall: A burger made from Belgian Blue beef at a place I cannot remember the name of in Bruges, Belgium, near the belfry market square. Belgian Blue steaks are also the best beef I've ever eaten. Cuts with a fork

He's right dude. There is no such thing as real Kobe beef in America. You had an imitation. Kobe beef isn't a patented term in America so restaurants can slap that name on and throw in a few extra bucks for unsuspecting customers who think they're getting the real deal.

Also you don't ground up real Kobe beef to make a burger or hot dog. It's a waste.

Also Kobe beef comes only from a certain lineage of cattle in Japan.

There was this Ameristar casino in Council Bluffs, by far the best burger I ever had until I returned several years later and it was awful, they had changed everything about it.

It was the perfect burger, but In N Out will always be king.

buffalo burger from Ted's Montana. it was amazing.

I didn't think it was all that great, I've had better buffalo burgers at home.

Au Cheval Burger, Au Cheval, Chicago, IL USA

I also go to Small Cheval as well.

Happy to see this was on first page, haven't had anything that comes close. Too bad the lines are fucking stupid. Would go more often but I can't be asked to wait three hours for the hipsters in the area to dick around.

There are select restaurants in the USA which now carry real Kobe beef and I doubt any of then are using it to make burgers.

My personal favourite burger will all ways be from Dic Ann's in Montreal. Chalk it up to growing up with it.

Crave Real Burgers in Colorado. The Slopper. Doesn't so much fail the 'knife and fork' test though, as pull its pants down and ridicule it. No way to eat it without utensils.

Somewhere inside that mound of Green Chili is a burger on top of a grilled cheese.

Just magical.

Also agree, Ted's Montana Grill does great burgers.

Probably Gordon Ramsey Burger's Hell's Kitchen burger if judging solely on the amount of times I drunkenly proclaimed that "this is a damn good burger!"

100% Kobe ground beef from Wanto Burger in Kobe, Japan. Legit 100% better than those fake Kobe burgers that you get in the US. Wish I could get some here but only 9 restaurants serve real Kobe beef in the US and none do burgers :(

Why would you use Kobe beef, whose signature is marbling and fat with a low melting point, and ground it up?

So happy to see White Hut getting more burger love so early on in this thread. They're nearly three hours away from me, but I visit them every time I go to Six Flags New England (about three times a year).

The best ever though?

The Radius burger.

How I mourn thee.

Apparently Tico in Boston are offering it these days. I must make a trip. It'll be weird going to a Mexican place to get a burger though, but I need another one of those Schlow burgers.

I put ground beef because I'm an idiot. It was a ground beef patty with pretty strips of Kobe draped over it. It kind of resembled a flower. I'll see if I can find a pic.

A steak burger always sounds good! I honestly do not think you would need to grind up kobe beef.

I've had it a few times in Japan. It often comes with a certificate and a nose print from the cow. Last one I ate was named "Michiko" which did little for the taste. Anyway if you're wondering, it's delicious and tender (depending of course on preparation and cut) but it's not worth the gulf in price between a steakhouse quality usda or florentine quality steak.

Better perhaps but not the kind of difference between a lackluster and perfectly ripe mango, if that scale makes sense. And yes grinding it into a burger would be financially stupid except that plenty of parts of a Kobe cow are every bit as tough as their Wisconsin counterpart.

The best is probably one of those mom and pop places I went to as a kid. It's all nostalgia though.

Main chains has to go to In-N-Out.
A week or two ago, I stopped off at my local In-N-Out and ordered a Double Double. When I took a bite, I could have sworn it had a faint taste of peanut butter. I know it sounds weird, but it made the burger taste even better. I can't stop thinking about it.
Next time I stop by, I'm going to add a thin layer of pb and see if it really improves the taste.

Probably at Wild Willy's in York Maine. They had a burger a few years back where they would grind prime rib and short rib meat that morning. There was a small sign saying that it could not be ordered above medium-rare and the only topping could be cheddar. It was just an amazing burger for a small local burger chain.

From a local place outside of Princeton NJ, The Rocky Hill Inn and Tavern

This is their pub burger.

They use a blend of short rib, brisket, and chuck for their patties, melted cheddar, beer battered onion rings, chipotle mayo, and wild boar bacon.

Idk, Kode beef has been one of the few high priced items that really blows out regular and higher priced items in the same space. The only other item I can think of that meets this criteria is probably Kopi Luwak coffee.
