I'm getting the same. Good to know it's not just me at least.
Yeah, the Nintendo Network servers appear to be down still, could be part of the Miiverse maintenance that's going on

I already have a new one, but since the Wii U uses a proprietary data system I can't transfer my stuff, can I?

My WiiU firmware is 4.0.1 or something ancient, I tried updating and it had hung on 1% for aaaaages, I ended up turning the machine off. On reboot, it says I need to update and when I choose 'update' it will then freeze when it sends me to the system settings. I think I've borked my machine![]()
Cancelling the update and then choosing any of the icons, like Browser, eShop etc will also make it hang :/
Did you turn it off while it was downloading the update or while it was installing?
It's been a long time.I tried using my Wii U at about 00:00 last night and I was getting the same error message and problem. Hopefully it will resolve itself but my patience is pretty low when a majority of features are disabled with no choice in the matter. Across two systems as well.
It's working again for me now.
downloading the update iirc.
Hmm...can you still reach the "Download Management" menu? If you can, see if you can delete the ongoing update download, if it's there. Maybe try starting the console without an internet connection.
A long-expected update, great. I still can't help but be saddened at how excited people get over such a tiny addition though... we Nintendo fans really are deprived when it comes to anything regarding interesting new OS features.
Last time anything interesting happened was when the 3DS added those new Miiverse games... and those aren't even free (yes, I bought them)
Yes. Just leave the system alone for a day or two and it should auto download the firmware update as long as standby mode is enabled in the settings.Question... is it possible for this update to download by itself... dont they have a feature like that on Wii U?

Yep. My Wii U was already updated before I saw this thread. Only thing I had to do was agree to their TOS again and was ready to go.Yes. Just leave the system alone for a day or two and it should auto download the firmware update as long as standby mode is enabled in the settings.
You can also cancel the first dialog if it prompts you to download the update, and then it downloads in the background.
You would think they could put an automatic substitution in for the ones that look like numbers. It already automatically changes case...(unless it is not like the 3DS, which is entirely possible*)Disabled usage of characters not used when redeeming Nintendo eShop cards (O, I, Z, etc.)

Can't you connect both?I thought you couldI already have a new one, but since the Wii U uses a proprietary data system I can't transfer my stuff, can I?
You'd loathe the Wii (I did too tbh) aside from channels I don't recall a single thing ever changingA long-expected update, great. The time wasn't on the home screen originally. It was added later. Can't you connect both?I thought you could

Finally, a reason to turn on my Wii U!
I agreed to them on Wii U, but thanks for saying the 3DS is the same issue as well. Going to make sure to agree right away since I want Smashy-Smashy at 11 CST.It's a bit of a strange flaw that you can not only not access anything internet-related on your Wii U, but also on the 3DS AND the Miiverse web-page because of the new terms and conditions and error codes preventing you from actually agreeing to them.
So, just switched on my Wii U and all the folders I'd arranged last night have gone... Sigh.....
yes
also theres four updated games that never leave the download place
Does this happen to anyone else?
When i switched mine on this morning it was down without me pushing a button.Question... is it possible for this update to download by itself... dont they have a feature like that on Wii U?
I didn't really have much of a need for any either, since I only had to scroll through two or so pages of stuff. I still think they are kinda neat because it let me throw a bunch of icons I don't use that often( mii maker, parental controls, health warnings etc) into one folder
Let me move Savegames from the HDD to internal space without moving the whole game!
Did you lose the stuff that was in them?
No... The menu's just arranged like it was pre-folders. I've got to put all the files back in them again....
I guess I am taking the Wii U with me to college on Wednesday to Update it.
Or guess not. College has a download speed of 8mbps and a upload speed 3.4mbps
How big is the update?
You're on the same user?
According to Gaf ~410MB
Wrong. You can connect a second HDD to the Wii U and transfer between them.
You must put both hdd on wiiu then you can transfer content from one to the other
Fully agree that this NEEDS to be added.
