Xbox One Tour - Highly disappointed in system and graphics

So does everybody have a problem with the bumpers on the new controller or what? That seems to be a pretty common complaint.

It'd be horrible if MS somehow managed to bust something so damn close to perfection as it was.

Honestly, the controller feels like a 360 controller but slightly smaller. I didn't really see any issues with the bumpers. Other then the triggers that the rumble independently, I didn't really feel much of a difference.

As for the game they only had Forza. Looks good but I don't really play Forza. My jaw didn't drop to the floor.

And as for the overall console, the OS isn't even on there so you can't even browse or check it out. It's a lot of the experience, and you can't even see it. It's hard to give a final impression based on that kiosk.

Yeah TTT looked amazing for a PS2 launch game even though, like Sol Cal. on Dreamcast, it was merely a souped up PS1-based System 12 game.

It seems like the people saying the graphics are fine haven't seen that nonbullshot screen of Forza 5. The game does not look good. Like, at all.

Edit 2: The event location
This Xbox One Tour event (in Vienna, Austria) was at an event location called "Metahall", still part of the city and urban area but not really located in what people would consider the "city core" (but not hard to get to at all).

I didn't take any photos at all, as the Xbox staff present was averse to it (I probably could have sneaked a few pictures). As part of the (free) attendance ticket, I received one voucher for a free beverage (half liter) as well as a snack (there were multiple options available, bangers with mustard and bread, for example). The atmosphere was pleasant, all stations were very easy to get to (relatively few people were present, many free stations).

Some pictures by the company owning the space:

Good or not, this "cryptic shit" is indeed irritating. I wish he wouldn't have said anything at all, rather than saying "news will happen tomorrow." Knowing that there will be news is not an acceptable substitute for knowing the news itself--it was an utterly useless post that has done nothing but stir up shit and derail the (already dubious) thread.

I wish I could go to the Tour to form my own impressions, but I suppose I can wait a month or so. Reading others' will have to suffice for now.

You're all in for a shock when you get your Xbones and PS4s, the pics, gifs and videos shown so far have masked the continuing aliasing problems that drag down the entire visual package. This was a big problem at the Eurogamer Expo with every console game I saw from a typical living room distance, it was disappointing to say the least.

But OP is crazy in regards the controller, it's delicious.

I think resolution differences will also be more apparent. "Cleaner" looking games means they will look a lot blurrier in lower resolutions compared to current gen

I have said it before, but I am fine with the bumpers. You should only be worrying if you used the bumpers as buttons, pushing them with your fingertips. If you push them like triggers, it feels perfectly comfortable.

What's wrong with anticipating news a little early? The Driveclub thread was way worse than this one.

Its such a subconscious action I really have no idea which way I handle them on the current controller. They're just that damn good.

Not the controller but related. It something having to do with headsets is my guess. Maybe your old one don't work on Xbox One.

im sure nothing will work on XB1 until MS introduces the adapter. they went with a proprietary connector instead of a standard 2.5mm jack the 360 used.

the only things that will work at launch are the XB1 pack-in headset and Kinect

Would that be news?

Figured we would have that situation on both systems.

Heck, I thought we already knew that...must be confusing my headset news.

yea, PS4 wont support bluetooth headsets at launch but it will support standard mics. 3.5mm type

Now I am actually worried about the new bumpers. I don't really like the idea of 4 triggers. I love on the 360 they are just a quick click and then the action happens.

Agree with most of the stuff OP mentioned, though the graphical quality (especially the poor aliasing) was something I expected going in, you just aren't going to get PC quality IQ out of these consoles. They biggest take away for me was definitely the XB1 controller feeling like a downgrade, in contrast to the PS4 controller that feels like an upgrade. The 360 controller is possibly my favourite of all time, but there are a couple of things I don't really like about the new one. The standout is the bumpers, they are placed incredibly close to the triggers and the point of responsiveness (where they accept input) felt too high up. I also had to hit them with the middle of my finger instead of the tip due to the placement, I'm really not a fan. The sticks themselves felt maybe a touch smaller, I'll probably get used to that though. The individual rumble in the triggers didn't feel right either, it was very dramatic though I assume this could be modified? The last point is purely aesthetic and others may disagree but the controller looks...cheap, like an old madcatz controller. Expectations should definitely be kept in check, especially from those who are used to pristine IQ.

This. The bad part about this new design is it removes choice. Fortunately for me it's designed to work how I normally use those buttons. For people that use them the other way, you're going to be forced to change.

Well I'm still looking forward to get my system at launch, graphics aren't everything and i even still find myself amazed at Xbox 360 & PS3 games sometimes.

It will interesting to see how BF4 & FIFA 14 are on PS4 in comparison.

Except famousmortimer provided a bit more detail than "something bad is going on." There was no substance to his post, and his clarification was equally vague. Hedging your comments with phrases like "it's not set in stone" is fine. Providing little more than what amounts, at this point, to FUD (literally--fear, uncertainty, and doubt was all that the post provided, whether it's proven correct or not at a later time) is not, in my opinion, an acceptable way to broach the subject of bad news.

Not trying to backseat mod, just giving my admittedly off-topic opinion about an off-topic post :)

Back on topic: does anyone have some more in-depth analysis of Ryse's combat? I think the game looks pretty good, from a graphical standpoint, but I'm rather wary of the gameplay mechanics. I'd love to have the game as a showpiece for launch, but if it's a turd to play, I'll save $60.

BF could look substantially better if its running at a higher resolution on PS4. But FIFA 14 seems just generally unassuming, without any obvious avenues for easy improvement. I wouldn't expect much of a difference between platforms.

Yes, it's a free PS+ expanded demo of a neither sim nor arcade racing game that you'll be able to play in 90-120 days. Who cares?

I do - thanks for asking. I have Driveclub preordered and it was supposed to be my launch game for the PS4...

Incredibly disingenuous to call it a "demo." What uninformed horse shit.

Also, several people who wanted to try the game out care. Is it an absolute dealbreaker that everyone was basing their PS4 preorder on? Fuck no. But there are certainly a lot of people who care. Games getting delayed sucks--sure, it provides the devs with additional time to make the game better (a good thing), but I know I'm not alone in wanting to play that game next month.

Edit: Beaten

Yeah, but there's a world of difference between Mortimer and Juancho. Juancho presented it as "Lol, if you think that's bad, wait until you see this other bad news!". Completely childish. Mortimer acts like an adult.
