Anyone have any idea where to pre-order in the U.K. to get the bonus OutRun track? It looks fucking awesome. In fact, the whole game looks pretty fucking great. Thanks.

EDIT- oh, looks like Play.com is doing it. Only £25 too!

Everywhere is doing it. The Limited Edition is the first print run.

Well we are now almost a month away from release, can't wait to get this and play it X3

Oh yeah who's doing the OT for this game?

Huh, looking around at various other places and the price is around £25 across the board, I approve.

edit: Beaten to by the crunch

I never said it was easy, I even said I understand why the roster is the way it is, but that doesn't change the fact that having two very similar NiGHTS characters, two very similar Monkey Ball characters, etc is quite underwhelming. I don't expect them to add every character I might want, but not stuffing the roster with characters that no-one is gonna care about would be nice.

I wasn't suggesting Sony were an example of a company doing things right, either--All-Stars is a cynical, lazy, half-arsed cash grab, and they don't even have financial struggles to hide behind.

But in the end of the day, that character is just an avatar am I not right? It's the car that needs to be tuned to control properly and not play like every other car in the game.

It's more when you have to design and build a vehicle that transforms for each of your playable characters. That limits how many you can make or else it gets very expensive :p

And then there is that aspect also.

I can't ever talk about anything major that's not revealed by SEGA. Odd details here and there are fine (i.e. PC details) - but screens and info on platforms not shown have to come from the official SEGA channel.

Can you at least fire off an internal e-mail to whatever team handled NiGHTS HD that the controls could use a patch? :D

Actually the team behind NiGHTS for PSN and XBL have responded to that issue, a GAFfer sent them an e-mail about it and they responded to them.

I just had a thought: Given this is done by Sumo, they should include an Outrun 2 minigame. Or the full version of Outrun 2 (SP kinda felt off compared to it IMO).

They totally did.

I can't rewatch the video from work, but at some point he plays a mode where he racks up points while drifting through a colored segment between two giant half-rings, and is graded at the end of it. Basically, it's Heart Attack mode.

The game is called Sega All-Stars (or Sonic All-Stars, or whatever). Fan-service is kinda the point.

Most guys don't actively support 3D (which is probably for the best. Most official developer 3D sucks and gives you resource easy layered 3D where there's little depth). All you can hope for is they don't cheat with rendering techniques that break how 3D works.

Sonic Generations actively supported it, that's one of the reasons I asked.

Yeah, all covered. We don't support Stereoscopic 3D in the game directly, but you can enable it via drivers (it works on my nVidia setup at home).

Ah, thanks for that. I was also weakly hoping it would be supported in the console versions too (at least for Single Player, since the game is already built for split-screen multiplayer across all modes), but at least unofficial PC support is appreciated.

I see Sega still hasn't shown off any Vita footage. Great to see we have another NFSMW situation of waiting in the dark till the last moment, can't really expect it to sell all that well or at least launch...but the hype etc.. :/

Modnation was an utter lagfest on the vita and they didn't even bother with online. There is no LBP karting announcement for the vita, at least not yet. Even if there was it would be down the line ... and it doesn't have sega and transforming (particularly looking forward to the flying as well). Don't let us down..

Most shocking one is that the "TAKES AGES" achievement icon is the hero from Segagaga.
Or what about Scud Racer that's the MSR logo?!? There sure are some unusual references in there. Shame that for most of them, that's the biggest appearance they'll make in the game :(

The achievement icons are the most fan service in the entire game.

How sad.

Fair point. I mean Panzer Dragoon, Skies of Arcadia, Nights, jet set radio, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Sonic CD, Samba De Amigo (and the rest) - how could these possibly be counted as fan service.

Crazy Taxi, Samba de Amigo, Nights and JSR have been represented in both of the previous Superstars games, and Sonic CD was represented in the last one. I get your point, but you can't expect people to get as excited for them now as they did the last two times.

My comment was aimed more at the ridiculous one preceding it.

Your points are all fair though (although you're being a bit disingenuous about Nights, seeing as it was only flag bearer status last time). Still, as a Sega fan I'm happy to see some of my favourite franchises appear for the first time. Panzer Dragoon alone is worth the price of entry for me.

My point is we've seen most of this stuff already in the last few years. Be it Tennis or the first game, Sumo themselves seem to want to recycle past franchises rather than introducing new ones in to the games.

Yeah they have been recycling crap. I was happy for thunderhead but after seeing that he was in superstar tennis my hype went down a little. That said shinobi and Vyse are enough for me to be hype so more or less i'm good.

Do you think they will actually be asinine enough to remove online play from the PC version this time around? I would have loved to buy the first one off Steam, but only having local multiplayer is useless for me. I would love to hear the story of why the fuck that happened.

Already covered--the PC version is fully-featured, and will run at 60FPS unlike the console versions.

I saw the zombie from First Sega Racing in one of the achievements, and I hope that it meant something.

also shows Ryo & Jacky which is a dick move if they arent in the game but then it also shows a doxen of sonics shitty friends who I certainly hope arent in the game so I dont think you can really take anything from it :(

New interview with Gareth Wilson, this part has me very pleased

It’s a really fine market to go for. So when I was making PGR, the market was easy to identify, it’s a hardcore sim. I know my audience, it’s men, young men up until mid-30s, who like cars. It’s car porn. It’s being cool in a car.

This is different because we’re trying to do this dual audience because we want to capture the kids, but we also want to capture these hardcore SEGA fans who probably the geekiest of geeks. So you get this weird dichotomy of design, which is fine, it’s ok. What we’ve really worked hard on is, this is a game that we’ve built for ourselves, we’ve not made it for children. You can play it as a child because you can pop it on Easy, but All-Star difficulty is f**king hard. I’ve tuned it like a Platinum medal in PGR. Even I can’t do it very well, it takes me about seven or eight goes to get it right.

So there’s a broad range of difficulties for different types of gamers. the C Class is for casual gamers who don’t play very much, B Class is for most people, A Class is pushing on to become a little bit harder and All-Star Class is f**king hard. Really, really, really hard.

So is there any word on what kind of controller support there will be for this game on Wii U?

One of the reasons I preordered a Pro controller was so we could play some split-screen if we wanted to..However we already got several wii motion plus controllers, and a classic controller. I might not wanna get the Pro controller right away if I don't need it.

Pretty much everything. GamePad, Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Wii Remote + (Wii) Classic Controller and Wii Remote + Classic Controller Pro (Wii U flavour). Doesn't need to be a Wii Remote with Motion Plus either, but it will use it if present.

No GameCube pad support - but really, I think we support enough controllers already!

Thanks. That's good to know.

Does the WiiU version look graphically better the the Xbox360 or PS3 version?

Will the Wii U version of the game have any Accomplishments in it? I like having those little Achievements/Trophies to go after.

We've tried to make them look equally as good. Some consoles do some things better than others, more memory on the Wii U means we have some slightly nicer textures. I'm sure Digital Foundry will have a field day when they get ahold of it!

All versions have Stickers you can earn to put on your license. On 360, PS3 and Vita, these also trigger Achievements/Trophies - but they're also there on the Nintendo platforms too. If you want the full set, you'll need to do the same criteria :p
