Winter 2012 Anime Thread 2.22: You Can (Not) Outpost Cajunator

Knight in the area 8

More beach soccer please. Regardless a nice fun episode. Feels like the plot is kind of going fast.
I like the combined team setup, Oda, Araki, Kakeru, Kaoru, Makota, all in play on the field will be great, all my favorites. Araki is so funny with the two others.

I dont understand how concentrating on the ball is a weakness though, wouldnt that mean the ball cant be taken from you, though I never played soccer before.

They really did awesome work with SZS in particular over a long span of time, and yeah everything you have there is great (Arakawa 1 > Arakawa 2 imo). Also, I just really loved Kuusou Rumba.

Fair play to SHAFT, those SZS OP/EDs are especially epic. (I haven't seen the series, should I?)

Actual tweet from Gen Urobuchi

Apparently it translates to something along the lines of "Regaining my sanity enough to work after Nisemonogatari 8 is going to be very difficult."

Nise the cancer that's killing anime; confirmed.

The last extended Zan OP is the greatest thing Shaft has ever done OP-wise. The various incarnations of Kuusou Rumba aren't far behind.

Blood-C Episode 10

Welp.
There goes Mr. Love Interest

Last few minutes: Uh. Wut.

Oh god I can't stop now. I have to see this to the end. I have a lot of theories in my head at this point but I honestly don't know what to expect next.

Uehuehuehuehue...

was that the guy
who turned into a tiger man?
that was kind of wack
I guess that was the most monstrous they could make him while still being able to have a sword fight.... or something

Yup. I thought it was a pretty cool fight, and i'm guessing the movie will be good if it's got a lot of action. The soundtrack during fights is boss too.

The concept is simple when Kakeru focuses too much on the ball at his feet, he's like a sniper looking through his scope, all he can see is his target through the scope and not the guy sneaking up on him.

SZS also had some pretty damn good ED's.

Gokujo 6

apparently episode 5 was banned from airing, i think this ep hinted at something involving a ping pong ball. either way this show's still pretty bad and yet i can't stop watching it :(

Shun the non-believer!

Shunnnnnn.
all heretics against OAR must burn!

I find it pretty hard to believe that someone who wrote Saya no Uta has any sanity in the first place.

I hadn't seen those SZS or the Maria Holic OP's, those were amazing.

Well to be frank I don't think it's possible to watch more than a few episodes of Maria Holic without getting bored to tears, so i'm not surprised :p

I'm with Pizzaroll on denpa OP, though. Not a fan.

aside from the gore (which was censored in the TV version anyway)
Blood+ was better than Blood C in every possible way

its like they said fuck it, lets just forget about story and music and characters, and animate gore, and censor the hell out of it

I think the plot in Blood+ may have been even WORSE than Blood-C's plot, though. I know that's really saying something, but I think it was true... and the show was even more boring as well.

I mean, Blood-C was in no means a good show, but Blood+ was really disappointing as well, probably even more so. Sure, part of that was higher expectations given how solid the original film was, but even so, + has every bit as many problems as C, maybe more. + Saya's unwillingness to fight most of the time got so, SO annoying, and the plot was so stupid so often...

Blood-C is shorter.
That does help too, yes.

Yes, yes you should. They require a...particular sense of humour to enjoy but I'm sure you'll know whether or not it's for you once you give the first season a spin.

But +Saya actually saves people!
C Saya was more like a plot device for to have random gore pandering

heres how I would break it down:
Blood+
+Haji
+Music by hans zimmer was epic
+A few nice fight scenes
+Alternative vampire story
-Slow Pace
-Kai
-Saya

BloodC
+some censored action scenes
-Saya
-every side character
-moe
-talking dog
-gore pandering
-terrible
Truman Show
Twist
-CLAMP

Alright so who's going to avatarize this?

As much as I enjoy the style of the SZS OPs, I think Arakawa Under the Bridge is my favorite Shaft OP.

I'm not saying that all of the Bakemonogatari OP's were good. In fact, I only really thought that Mayoi's and Kanbaru's were well made.

I'll assume this is what you meant. I had thought you believed differently from your previous post, but I suppose you can like them without thinking they're actually good.

Nisemonogatari 8

I thought there was no way the toothbrush stuff would live up to all the hype, but I'm speechless. I was expecting a scene or two, not an entire episode about fetishes and incest. I don't even know how this got made.

Right. I think either that or the Soredemo opening are the best of the best, I just can't decide which is the better of the two. They're both very creative and lots of fun.

Nisemonogatari 08

As someone who was 100000000000000000% anticipating this material to get animated since the project was first announced, this is the greatest episode of anything i've ever watched, and it completely delivered on the source material 100%

I think its a nice start to a miniarc of sorts seemingly. Not really a fan of Serenity but Marika is still pretty interesting. I wish we could have new non knife looking escort ships though.

Dear God. Nothing could have prepared me for that. I'm still laughing from everything that had just transpired.

Thank you for this Anime-GAF.

I hope the show doesn't take itself too seriously anymore. The last episodes were pretty nice. But what is wrong with Usagi?

Return of the SC President! Tsubomi is so yuri for her~

A bit of a predictable resolution (such a foreign concept to magical girl shows~), but I personally like her character type a lot, so it's all good. She needs to work on her drawing, though, even if the end result worked out.

Hitokage

Setec Astronomer
Also, many of CLAMP's works fit into a larger CLAMPverse and Blood-C is no exception.

Besides, it was setting things up from episode 1.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Blood-C... takes place in Clampverse?

I give up.

::tears down the CLAMP posters, throws out the plushies and burns the artbooks::
