Anyone else feel like it's getting harder and harder to watch this show? My interest eventually peters out toward the middle of the season. I'll be watching this regardless though.

It's because they don't really mix it up in any way, so it depends on the personalities to carry you through. And the halfway point is where they've gotten rid of most of the entertaining deadweight.

Will be interesting to see if anyone is worth a damn this season. Last season I hated every single damn person.

I finally quit this show last season. I can't stand all of the fake drama, plants and formulaic "competitions". They really need to shake this show up as it has become incredibly stale.

I've felt that way several seasons ago, but I keep coming back to watch them. I can't explain why. It's just my go-to show to check out every season. I think I just enjoy watching Gordon flip out. :p

MasterChef is a less chaotic version where Gordon doesn't treat his contestants like dirt.

Another season already? And no JP :( Oh well. Was too late to predict last season. So I'm going with:

I REALLY hated how they turned the episodes from: Challenge, punishment/reward, service, elimination which fitted just fine and split that up into multiple episodes to cram more shitty drama in. It's a cooking competition and they turned it into Big Brother.

It's way too formulaic. MasterChef isn't amazingly innovative, but it's so much more exciting to watch.

Even the services just blur all together because it's the same timings/no communication fuckups.

And many of the challenges are just kind of goofy busy work.

They need to add more things where they aren't just line chefs being yelled at by Ramsey because they fucked up scallops again.

Like, I would go back to the first season's finale, split the place down the middle and let Red Team create and design a restaurant/menu/etc. and same for Blue. Gordon can still make them do special nights or breakfasts or whatever and then every so often they have to retool the place a bit. Gordon can have people run the pass earlier instead of just one night, etc. But it's not just a bunch of random shit and then at the end they have to "run a restaurant" instead they're building it up more as a collective exercise. And then they can combine for the black shirts and create a new place.

Now even the finale is so boring and dumb because it's just a regular service, they used to do the planning of the decor and menus and the uniforms for the servers and so on...

The Chopping Block was a massive failure ratings wise, but I liked it so that's why I'm kinda stealing the idea some. And it still can be just a setup for Ramsey to yell at them instead of Marco Pierre White's low key daggers. And there's plenty of avenues for fighting and stupidity and drama.

I am going to try and not watch this season. It's just gotten so bad. Will probbaly fail, but having school on Wednesday nights will help.

That being said, this is my blind guess.

Master Chefs have talented chefs, some buckle under the pressure. That's what Hells Kitchen used to do. Now hells kitchen gets themselves maybe 6 competent chefs and fills the other spots with attention whores for ratings.

I thought the last season was pretty bad. It's a show which stands or falls on the quality of the contestants, so if they're not entertaining then it's a waste of time.

If it's another bunch of hacks who fail at boiling water but get angry at each other at the drop of a hat I'm out this season. Gotta bring some skill back into the kitchen and weed out the trash bags.

this guy will be a smug asshole. he'll do terribly in the first round and deserve to go, but chef ramsey will light the fire under him and he'll cruise through to final 4.

I stopped watching the show about 5 years ago. It's the same thing every season. The Ramsey saturation is becoming too much.

lol this literally just ended like two months ago

This too. When I saw a commercial for "New Season of Hell's Kitchen starting soon!" I was confused as shit, thinking it was a really old commercial that someone accidentally replayed.

I am going to watch every episode's challenge again just to count how many times they come down to the last two dishes, has Gordon Ramsay say "this one is a tough call!" and then cuts to a commercial break. I'm pretty certain it's every challenge ever.

I still love it tbh. It's completely corny and predictable but I just love the way that Gordon Ramsay hams everything up.

Yep, it's so clear that Ramsay is just acting at this point. It's so fake it's hilarious. If anyone has watched any of his more down to earth shows, he is much more toned down than that.
