It would be risky, certainly, but going back to pick up Gastly would eliminate the need to grind for the rest of the game.

He was deposited about 50+ hours ago, I believe. He has to be over level 50 by now...

I don't think that would be enough for us to never have to grind again. We're either going to need a lot of Pokemon around level 50 or a few Pokemon at much higher levels than the Elite 4.

Just watched the video of the Giovanni fight. That's some intense shit. I wish I was able to watch it live. Must have been a real nail biter live.

I like the idea of spending some time grinding in Cinnabar Island. Much better then spending forever to get into Victory Road and promptly blacking out.

Quick, someone combine it with that kid at the computer doing a thumbs up gif.

I saw Cloyster earlier and thought we had somehow miraculously made it to the E4. Not sure how necessary this grinding is, though. I mean, I guess it gives us more durability for Victory Road at least, but I'm not sure how much difference that's going to make in terms of making it through. As for the E4, I have to figure that problem would kind of solve itself since we'd be getting EXP for every try...

Zapdos and Pidgeot would be getting EXP. I don't think the weaker Pokemon like ATV and Air would get much out of it though.

The longer we can last on(in?) Victory Road the better the chance we'll have of doing all the strength puzzles. A lot of Pokemon in it are going to be good/strong against Bird Jesus and Anarchy Jesus, but weak to water. AIR, the Fonz, and Helix all have surf which will take them out easier. But they are all too weak to do anything right now. If we train them up, they'll be able to take large amounts of damage (like both birds do now) and not have much of a problem. The other scenario is we don't train them, and they all get wiped out near the start and we only have the birds carrying us through the whole thing (which will be difficult with all the rock/ground types).

I really hate to say this but getting Ghastly would probably be a good idea

Could he even learn any worthwhile moves? He would know Lick, Night Shade, Hypnosis, and Dream Eater if I'm not mistaken. And I think it's asking a bit too much from chat to be able to set up a Hypnosis/DE combo.

We have the money for that? I can't remember how expensive day care was in gen 1 but aren't we always broke in tpp?

The max amount we would owe for a lvl 100 is $7800. Since we deposited him at 23 and every level gained is 100 + the initial 100 base cost. We currently have $13,000

I swear to god if we go back to the daycare only to find out we can't afford him.

Also, I missed the Gio fight but caught it on YouTube. So proud. Our lord with the OHKO and based bird jesus forever clutch

You pay $100 + $100x where x is the number of levels gained.

Ah my mistake, I thought it was 1000x. I remembered having a pokemon trapped in the daycare once because I couldn't afford to get it back so I assumed it was the larger amount haha.

I vote we vote Venemoth off the team. Get Keeper or Ghastly.

At this point Ghastly is a better option, since he's most likely 55+. Keeper is still 30. Personally, I think getting Ghastly is a good idea (1. Think of the Never Gonna Give You Up memes. 2. He will be high level.) BUT I can't stress enough how awful it would be to botch the PC and lose all the hard work we've made with Bird Jesus and Zapdos. Can you imagine losing both of them? I don't want to.

When it'll be time to seriously try the elite four we could try approaching the PC with democracy and do what we must.

Guys, getting out Ghastly is an awful idea. Ignoring the obvious needing to go to the PC, you have to look at its moveset. Confuse Ray, Dream Eater, Hypnosis, and Night Shade. He's unlikely to be getting dream eater/hypnosis combos that often, and night shade does a fixed damage equal to the user's level. Even if he was level 100, he'd only do 100 damage per turn, which will be a 3-4 hit ko on most e4 pokemon.
Now factor in that he's still only level 4x, getting night shade off is only a 1/4th chance, we have to revisit a ledge to enter the daycare, the fucking PC, and needing to either backtrack through Mt Moon both ways AGAIN or do seafoam islands to even get there, and IMO it's pretty obviously not worth it. Besides, ATV, who we'd likely swap out for him, learns good psychic moves pretty soon, which if we can actually learn, will make him already better than ghastly.

Keeper, Helix and Air would still need to grind to become very useful, Ghastly is probably a bad idea even if he is 50+ since he would still know bad moves without using TMs...and we know how 90% of our TMs end up.
