'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

it's an absolutely atrocious policy. yes, you can blame them. most reputable companies would be flexible with things like this. saying, "you can't get a refund on a pre-order" ie. you cannot cancel a pre-order is one thing. putting a price out there for said pre-order for months and then lowering the price before release is another thing. completely different circumstance from cancelling a preorder

They clearly state it on the page...

YOU MAY NOT CANCEL A PRE-ORDER AT ANY TIME AND REFUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDERS, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAWS.

It's not their fault that people don't read the rather large print. It may well be a shit policy but it's one that is made perfectly clear before pre-ordering.

Pretty sure it states clearly that they won't offer refunds.

"CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE EXCEPT WHERE REQUIRED BY LAW."

Yeah, I found it weird that you can't simply cancel a preorder _and_ get charged right away in the US Store. If you preorder from the EU Store, you get charged at release and can cancel the order at any time (before release).

Exactly. But I agree that we could have refunds to the Store wallet at least.

I don't understand why people pre-order games so early though. The pre-order bonuses are the same either you purchase the game today or a day before release.

I didn't know that, looks like its just the US Store problem then.

On the other hand, there are no preorders on the Japanese store, the last time they had it was for Dragon's Crown, and I got to preload the game like a week before release.

wow, sorry to hear the digital pre-order guys got stung...I hope Sony do the right thing...it's not like the Destiny one where you got access to a beta and then decide to cancel...

And shit like this is why I don't buy / preorder digital games. Digital future my ass..

Don't let Sony's insanely poor consumer policies deter you from digital future. Origin offers you 24 hours to play the game digitally and refunds your money if you arent' satisfied. There are companies that are doing it right.

The shit companies can get away with in the US is embarrassing.

No matter what it states, I don't think we should give them any sort of pass for such an unreasonable policy. I've been surprised by how friendly and accommodating customer service is these days with most retailers. Sony is the only one that I've personally dealt with that has surprised me by being the opposite. I'll never deal with them directly again if I can help it.

Be glad this was only a $10 lesson. Mine was $60.

This. I mean of course I don't approve the sony policies but at least wait a bit more before to preorder something.

it was your mistake, not theirs, you need to read the agreements on everything you buy online, every store have different policies, just because origin has one does not mean that everyone is the same, comparing services wont cut it, steam is the same way and steam is far and away the most loved service/DRM for pc gamers and they wont refund shit to you, make this an example for the next time you buy something thats not on origin of course because you seem to love them that you read the agreements, read, its free and not difficult at all

I'm with you, I only did it because I thought it may have released earlier and I wanted all the MP bonuses. Other than that I would have easily gone with the physical disc.

I will be complaining to Sony if the do not provide credit or some type of bonus to those of us that pre ordered the digital copy.

I had also hoped for a diabl 3 upgrade option, stuck with that too.

The Last Time.

I'm certainly not defending Sony and as I said, it is a shit policy but people need to realise these things before pre-ordering stuff, especially when it's still months in advance.

So much can change in the lead-up to a game and I've never understood the need to pre-order so far ahead and definitely not on a digital copy which isn't going to run out of stock.

Yes, anyone - including me - who purchased the game at the higher price is going to be out of luck because the policy was clearly stated. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't pressure to Sony to change the idiotic and outdated policy to something more in line with what other retailers offer.

Well, I've embraced digital on PC long ago with Steam. I only buy during sales and never preorder though.
Prices on EU PSN are utter shit anyway, so I'll only get small digital only titles there.

First, digital titles should cost less than the physical version IMO... So that sucks for everyone who bought it at a higher price but you guys shouldn't even buy those games digitally in the first place if you don't like being screwed over.

It's their fault if they have shit anti-consumer policies, and they should be called out on it.

Does Sony's pre-order policy state anything about official price drops? I thought it was only about no cancelling.

Well, just spoke with Sony's chat and the rep is going to open a case to "request" a refund. Is this a good sign or is this just a ploy to get me off chat?

So call them out on it but that doesn't change the fact that it clearly states their policy. If people don't like it it's very simple, don't buy or pre-order through them.

Who knows, but do report back so we can call Sony out on that shitty policy of theirs when they do not refund the extra $10 you paid when it wasn't necessary.

(I mean the shitty policy can be criticized in any case, but this would give it the human story that is so effective. ;-))

Tweet Shu and see what he has to say. I understand price drops after release to keep sales going, but to drop it before release and not give people an equal price.....that's balls.

It's a terrible policy, terrible customer service and they deserve to get called out on it, stop defending it.

Is there a list of states that they are required to give a refund? I know they always say "except required buy law" but I can't find what states those are.

For the third time.....I'm not defending it. I have said it's a rubbish policy but it's still a policy clearly stated on the page when pre-ordering.

If people read that and don't care, well that's their problem if something happens and they want a refund.

I pre-ordered this at Best Buy Canada during the E3 sale, got it for $48.99 CAD at the time. If they reduce the price do I get the discount on the reduced price now?

This. In the end it falls on the consumer to make an informed purchase. That said Sony should offer a way to cancel orders in the future. It is ludicrous and even more so that such a system is in place already on EU PSN. not inky is it more consumer friendly it would instill more buyer confidence and encourage more spending.

Well that's a bummer to hear about people not getting a refund at the moment.

We'll if I ever pre order off PS4 I'll pre order during the last week/days

But unless you pre load I think you should be able to cancel a digital order

Most retail stores will match your pre-order with the lower price (that's good customer service), but I doubt it's going below that in Canada.

It's certainly buyer beware but that does not mean Sony should not make it right. They have done a lot to garner support and should do the right thing and either refund the difference or allow a cancellation

GAME are still trying to charge £50. They're so out of touch it's unbelievable. Sadly I've got trade-in points I want to use against it so ideally I don't want to shop around

Sure, this is also what is happening here though.

He should've read more carefully, but is still allowed to vent about their shitty policies.

Well, it should be said that there's a distinction to make between "The Uncharted IP is too popular for Sony to shelve it" and "The Uncharted IP is too popular for Sony to allow Naughty Dog to leave it behind". I firmly believe that those who are expecting Uncharted 4 to be ND's last Uncharted game and the last entry in the franchise are in for a bit of a shock in the not-too-distant future.
I think that's true, but it would presumably be affected by how ND felt about other people making Uncharted games. If they don't care, sure, put another studio on the franchise, but if they want it left alone, till such a time as they fancy revisiting it, I think Sony would be inclined to indulge them.

It's actually the same thing for the constant argument that there has to be a TLoU2 because the first one was a huge hit. The first one being a huge hit is the definitive evidence that TLoU doesn't need a sequel, ND just need to make games they really care about. If they want to make more UC or TLoU, rad, but if a new IP can sell as well as anything Sony has, the weight pressed upon established IP is pointless.

It's also true of Bloodborne, people being surprised it didn't have the Souls name on it. The industry needs to move to establishing brands around studios and teams, not franchises, the current model is detrimental and seemingly unnecessary.

I'm thinking this has a lock on being the best selling game for PS4 this year

While infamous sold a good number , seeing all the amazon chart posts and posts on other forums about people hyped for the remaster, its gonna be big.....again

Poor driveclub

I'm ready to actually beat the game this time :D

Would people be interested in a new, updated thread for the MP? The original thread wasn't updated a week after it was created, so it might be better creating a Google spreadsheet for people to add their PSN ID's and if they have a mic etc. to facilitate better matchups.

Well, the one most likely to be most affected by it, Amy Hennig has left ND. And even then, that never stopped Bend from making Golden Abyss.

And frankly, it doesn't have to be Nathan Drake. Conceptually, the IP is large enough that it can go Francis Drake, Sully... or even "Young Nathan Drake Chronicles."

I think he meant exclusives, otherwise it doesn't have any chance against the usual CoD/AssCreed/FIFA sequels, or even the GTA V remaster.

Did something happen yesterday that led to all of the sales talk in here?

Other game that has a shot is the Halo Collection IMO, even though it has a smaller install base to go off of.
the game drop 10 bucks MSRP, thats why you see all the talk about sales, about the halo collection, i think, is gonna be huge, bigger than people expected, theres a lot of people that havent got an xbox one because they are still playing halo 4, the moment they can do that on the new console is an instant switch plus the fact that it includes halo2, that was a very smart move by MS, sony should do an uncharted collection and bring journey to ps4, many complain about remakes but there are some games that need to be played by those that never bought a ps3, journey specially, one of the most beautiful games ever, the only game that made me tear man and thats without voice overs, pure music and amazing art, art goes a long way

Oh! Damn, that's good to hear. The game was too expensive as is, $50 is a better price point.

And I agree about the Halo MCC being big and probably MS's go-to system seller this fall. If they bundle it in then they'll have a good package on their hands.

Anyways, OT, I still haven't played Left Behind so I'm excited to do so in this. Is it unlocked right from the start?
