Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call |OT| Once more, with feeling!

What characters does playing the demo unlock? Or, are the characters random?

I need Locke to be a quick unlock. Getting the shards in part 1 was so time consuming!

Also, are dark notes still in? And, is unlocking characters via shards again?

You get shards more easier with Quest Medley this time around.
Finishing a quest can gives you a lot of shards, saw a video about it.

So jelly of those getting the game early. I feel like I"m the only one still waiting. :(

I think I'll be the last one to get a copy (gonna go out any buy it the old-fashioned way on Friday). :p Gonna play the first one a bit more in the meantime.

Guessing most of EU-GAF is still without a copy even if they preordered(?).

Do some of the longer songs just cut mid song this time too?

This was very annoying in the first game.

The Final Boss theme from FF IX didn't even get to my favorite part, and it wasn't even the longest song in the game, so I just don't see why they couldn't make it longer.

I could understand for something like Dancing Mad which is around 17 minutes, and even that would be awesome to be there in it's entirety. A test of endurance.

Yup, still waiting on the SE EU store to send it out.

Amazon shipped my copies today. Woo. Some MP with MrsBS will be nice. I'm looking forward to churning through all these songs.

Time to buy some eShop bucks!

Got the game in the mail today.
Just... Mind blowing for how much more content it has compared to the first game. So happy!

Played more with the demo.
I kinda like the total critical thing, it actually encouraged me to get 100% it and you get a crown in the music list to congratulate you, woot!

Is it Friday already? :(

Was extremely lucky and got it early in Germany today. I'm having a blast so far.
I really like that they optioned the button inputs and they work very well.

Thanks for your impressions!
Is it possible to play versus without the EX Burst Skills or are they mandatory?

Unfortunately it's not. The EX Burst Skills are mandatory to play Versus and also you have little to no control over them. They are semi-randomized between 9 different skills and they fill up roughly every 20-25 hits depending on Criticals/Greats. It's then activated immediately on the opposing player.

Edit: Update. I was previously only playing Versus with the AI, however, in Online Battle/Local Battle mode you are able to select from 4 Score Types: Basic Score, Expert Score, Ultimate Score, and Ultimate Score (No EX Burst). So it turns out if you are able to play on the Ultimate Score level of difficulty, you have the option to search for others not using EX Burst. This was a fun find, unfortunately I cannot test it out due to not being able to find anyone online internationally right now.

Got the Limited Edition coming, and I'm pretty excited. Is there a tracklist for the included CD yet? I haven't been able to find one.

I just played the demo.

Anyone else get disoriented by the change they made to FMS hold notes? I'm sure I'll get used to it in time, but it made the FMS hard to perfect the first time around.

Is the music also softer in the full game? Can anyone with both games confirm? The demo drives me nuts. It's too quiet even with headphones.

I feel like the track volumes are softer than the menu volumes...I'm always putting the 3DS to max volume when I play a song, and then immediately halving the volume once I finish so my eardrums don't get a blast of the VICTORY jingle >.<

Can't wait for those spin-off tracks like Mystic Quest <3

Those two songs are soooo aweeesome.

Yup, just make sure to choose the path such that you battle all the mini bosses :)

Anyone know if the DLC will be purchasable tomorrow? I know it's down right now, just wondering if it will be ready to go up the day of release.

If anyone got this early, how many save slots does it have? Can't find an answer online yet from the importers.

They seemed kinda changed to me but honestly it was unclear to me HOW they were changed. Is it something you're able to articulate?

Someone asked earlier, it's 2, same as the first game.

So i bought Theatrhythm when it first came out, but didn't play too much of the songs with the clips in the background simply because I wanted to avoid spoilers. Is this still the case? Or even if I play it am I not going to see that much spoiler wise. While I have played about half of the series, I still haven't finished 6 and 9 and would not like to have those games spoiled for me.

Wait a minute. This game is going to be digital? The first one wasn't right?

Damn it! I should have stocked up on more eCards during the Target sale!

Hmm, only difference I noticed is that they now end in a small circle instead of a big one, but that doesn't change the timing at all. Or is there something else that I missed? Didn't have any trouble myself. I do wish they would give the arrows at the end of holds a different color than the hold itself, but it's not a big deal. The change to a small circle for non-arrowed holds actually helps to differentiate them, which is nice.

They changed the old EMS (cutscenes montages/clips) into FMS/BMS. So you can play those songs without being spoiled now... unless monsters and bosses count as spoilers to you. lol

There are EMS for the new series they've added to Curtain Call though (like FF Tactics, Type-0, etc). I believe there is no more "Series mode", so you can choose whatever song you want to play.. with the exception during Quest Medley which is a random(?) selection of songs.

Man my hype went from 0 to 100 for this in the last 24 hours. I'd love to have it on the system since it'll be a great game to have on there at all times. But that LE CD bundle is really tempting, even if it's only 5 songs. DECISIONS!

And now Smash U is out in November? How'd I miss that?? Bayonetta next month? Hyrule Warriors and FIFA in 2 weeks?

Sheeeeeeeeeeeit my wallet.

Yea its harder now cuz that stupid big gray circle that represents your position has to exactly match up with the smaller circle, you have to be more acurrate.

Check out an FMS from the first game. Here's one from the second game.

In CC, the beginning circle of the hold note stays on screen instead of trailing off to the right. As a result, you have this green circle that perfectly follows the path of the hold note. The problem is, you will never have this accuracy (and don't need to for criticals) so your slightly bigger cursor circle will always lag behind the perfect green one. This creates a sort of "illusion of lag" is the best way I can describe it. It's really jarring to me. It's especially bad when you have rapid ups and downs.

No timing difference. Just an illusion that hurts my brain, haha.

Not sure if it's harder than before, but you definitely still have a bit of leeway.

Ah yeah that's it. I felt like I was being less accurate with them in the demo, but I think in reality I wasn't, it just LOOKED like I was, because the large green circle moving in the target circle breaks in and out of it a bit, while the old small circle stays inside it when you vary yourself a bit.

But man I watched just a little bit of that Historia Crux video and nearly climaxed, I am so excited to play some of these songs it is almost painful.

I can't unsee it now that you guys pointed out the size difference in the circle. haha

I think I like Hamauzu's work even better than Uematsu, so representation for X-2 and XIII+ has me so excited.

Mystic Quest (my first FF!) is just icing on the cake.
