Xenoblade 3D |OT| Is that a Monado in your pocket or are you just really feeling it?

I didn't mean it personally or anything like that. I was just worried that some people in the middle of their first playthrough might notice that avatar and get a certain something spoiled for them. I already know someone who got it spoiled through one of Smash Run's Trophies. =p

Nah it's fine. I'm completely fine with it. I like the concept of not spoiling the game for people.
The avatar itself is just a joy to look at for me.

Funny story actually,
I have that avatar on IGN, and someone in the CT asked why Shulk had green eyes in the picture. Somehow it devolved into another user making him believe it was Shulk and Melia's child.

She is a super cool character to main. DOT destruction, fast attacking, double attacking crit on doubles high tension death goddess Fiora, with drone X specials on a cycle cause i like them all. Except when I unwittingly run into a baddie who deals spike per hit and she dies in like, half a second XD

Thank you for this thread!! We have this pre-ordered and will buy the Wii U game when its released. My son is looking forward to this game. He wanted us to buy it when Gamestop was selling used copies for $70 or whatever the price was for the Wii. I will have him read your tips and suggestions. It will be a big help. Thanks again.

Probably my favorite character, gameplay-wise. Set her up right and she just goes crazy on enemies. Never not attacking. And giving her Critical Drain on top of that, she's a damn vampire lol.

I think they made her kind of overpowered in some regards. Each hit double attacking, power drain not being an aura allowing it to stack with speed shift, stuff like that.

Replaying this game on the n3ds feels so good =D I got sucked in again. Gaur Plain is such a cool location. You can stick there for so many hours. It's amazing

Yeah she's an awesome character because you can set her up however you want. She has to be my favorite character gameplay and story-wise.

I hope everyone is still pretty active once this hits the states for this first timer, I hope this catches my intrigue like FF7 did all those years ago. I am going o be bombarding yall with correct battle techniques and what not.

Pretty sure people won't breeze through this game in 1 week :p Also if anything, you along with us without the game yet will be coming in to talk about it as well.

Someone mentioned about zooming the camera in makes it better but I can't find a slider anywhere in the settings to do this?! Apart from decide which angle like low, medium and high

Ugh, I've still got to finish up Majora's Mask before this comes out next week. Just got to the Water temple, so I need to step it up a bit.

This game is sounding seriously amazing to me. I never got it for the Wii and when I heard about, but all the impressions are really getting me hyped for this handheld release.

I love big RPGs and this seems like an awesome mix of an openworld/MMO style world and I'm actually interested in the setting of the game unlike a lot of JRPGs lately.

I usually have an issue with immersion breaking such as this. However, the game saved me from it by having him crash and continuing on foot. I can mentally comfort myself by thinking it is just taking him a very long time to arrive.

The plains was the first area that made me consider disabling the waypoint marker. First, it was "I don't know where the boy is, near some water" then poof, a mini-map flag right on his head. That kind of spoiled it a bit. Then, after finding the boy and having him give this elaborate explanation of how to get to the refugee camp, poof, a mini-map flag right on the camp, rendering his directions meaningless.

I havent yet disabled the flag, but typing out this post has convinced me to do so immediately. I strongly suggest anyone else playing for the first time to disable it as well, at least after you hit the plains and are familiar with the game.

3 hours? Make it 5. Don't forget to explore the area to the northeast of Viliera Hill!

But in all seriousness one of my fonder memories with this game was in the very beginning when you first enter Colony 9 and are told to go to Shulk's lab. I immediately turned around and headed for the exit, half-expecting to get a message telling me to turn back. Was very pleasantly surprised to see that was definitely not the case.

I definitely will be. Still waiting for the NA release. This coming week is an awkward lapse between completing most of the singleplayer of MH4U and the release of Xenoblade.

I've come to terms with the lack of face plates, I just hope we get the 3DS themes.

This has likely already been posted but just in case anyone missed it:

Smooth McGroove covers Gaur Plains

This has to be one of the most recent games he's covered, isn't it?

Alright, one more bloody week. Any suggestions for how to pass the time? If I get too deep into Dark Souls I'll end up just playing that by the time XB3D comes out instead of XB3D.

Anyway, one concern I have with the port. It's not the resolution decrease, but.. Uh... Well, any of you Euro folks have an opinion on what being at a 15:9 aspect ratio does to the experience as opposed to the Wii version's 16:9 aspect ratio? Doesn't the narrower view space sort of have a bit of a negative effect on the view?

Been super happy with this game so far, haven't played it since I first got it on the Wii when it came out. It's sucking me in again and I'm fine with that.

About 3 hours in and really enjoying it so far. The music is incredible. Voice acting is pretty bad but I expected it to be. Other than that I can't wait to play more tomorrow. Time for bed now I think though!

What? The VA is great.
And yeah, the music is fantastic. Got a serious Fallout 2 Flashback when entering the
colony 6 sewers.

Yeah, the voice acting is amazing. Dunban and Dickson are god tier

Just got to Frontier Village awww yeah. Port is fucking amazing so far. I'm constantly stunned this shit is running on a 3DS with no frame rate dips. Its insane.

This is getting me so pumped to play the game now

I feel like no one gets more out of less than Nintendo does with handheld games. I'm stunned that Smash worked like it did on the OG 3DS. Feel like I'm going to be thinking the same after playing this.

There are some really good moments, namely:

When shulk gets overrun by the monado

When Egil thinks he had been betrayed by Meyneth, you can practically hear the heartbreak in his voice

Makna Forest is stunning. Its exactly the same as the Wii version, same amount of trees and foliage, same massive areas and gigantic waterfalls, and its a solid 25-30fps throughout with no dips even during battles.

Just took these screenshots:

I mean, the resolution is lower but the rest is so so so good

does it have the same case of terrible draw distances? :p

If you want to be a completionist you should save it for a second playthrough. That's how I did it to avoid burn out on sidequests.

Accept any sidequests you come across, if you happen to complete them out in the field, cool. Otherwise keep moving on with the story. Don't feel compelled to do every single sidequest.

any noticeable drop in audio/VA bitrate quality?

And I assume this runs better than the PAL version which was fixed at 25fps I think?

I don't suppose anyone who ordered a physical copy from Nintendo UK's store has received a download code for the 3DS theme yet?
My game arrived today but on my order page the status next to the theme says "awaiting stock pick".

Same for me. Contacted them but no reply, probably going to have wait until after the bank holiday now. At least I have the game itself and the cover plates to look at until then.

I am in awe that a 3DS (albeit, an upgraded one) can do this. Frontier village is huge, and it is a solid 30fps, no drops, and everything is visible from the top.

I am consistently stunned that they brought Xenoblade to the 3DS. It shouldn't be this good, it should be a foggy jerky mess. But apart from the resolution its absolutely identical to the Wii version

I bought my N3DS in November purely because of Xenoblade. Nice to know my purchase has been fully justified.

I'm really about to get this, despite having some unfinished games.
Considering I've got 20€ of store credit does not make this decision more easy :p

Have not played any Xenoblade before, this would take my virginity.
