Marvels Secret Wars by Hickman & Ribic |OT| Everything ends... Everything begins

Someone else had to see the little life raft in the hole of U. Reed's bubble city, right? While he's talking about theft. There are 2 rafts. U. Reed and the Cabal are still around.
Yeah.
I took the theft speech as "idea theft", meaning he copied the idea off 616 Reed and used that dilated time he mentions to implement it.
It's also worth noting Miles was surveying the same hole the last time we saw him.

Holy shit guys, I feel so fucking sad after that issue. I expected a lot of shit, but not this. I never expected this.
I know that feeling, bro.
It's gonna be okay. Maybe.

But there were so many people in the announcement thread that were angrily adamant that this wasn't a reboot...

I'd really wait for the series to end to proclaim this is one because right now, every piece of post-SW material points to it not being one.
Coming to this conclusion now is like reading only X-Men Alpha and saying "welp, they're rebooting the X-Men".

It's already leagues better than Convergence!

Yeah. For one... Secret Wars had something(s) happen. While Convergence... didn't.
What the hell is wrong with you people. The UU is the best. ;_; What was wrong with it?

Hmmmm..... I think everything. Sure, there's a good thing or two coming from that universe but otherwise, it just wasn't worth keeping around.

Man... some observations

- Lol the Punisher. Guy goes out with a bang.
- Damn all of the kills
- Star Lord? Guess they'll say they need a reliable space adventuerer or something like that.
- Spider-Man is always the luckiest guy

- Punisher stole the issue for me with the few panels he was in.
- And think about everyone we didn't even see in this issue who died.
- They already said Silver Surfer survived the incursion.
- Spider-Man will cry because Aunt May and Mary Jane died. At least he didn't eat them in this "end of the world" scenario.

Weird. Rage of Ultron and All-New, All-Different Avengers didn't look like a rebooted universe.

If no one remembers Secret Wars or what happened during it...then I'll proclaim it a reboot.

"here's the status quo, no one remembers what happens but are going to pretend this is how things always are" = reboot.

Depends on what you lack.
If you know half of those characters you gonna have no trouble reading Secret Wars with the summary.
If you know nearly nobody then you gonna have a hard time following.
Thinking I'm about to go out and pick up Secret Wars #1 but maybe I shouldn't jump in?.

I've only really read Annhilation but didn't finish the epilogue since the parts of heralds comics were missing on Unlimited so that turned me off from finishing it off and reading Richies comics. I read Secret Wars #0 but wasnt familiar with any of the Future Foundation.

That's the thing. Those issues directly referenced a lot (and in the case of ultron forever, truckloads) from Marvel's pre-SW issues. Which is why he said it the way he did.

I mean its really hard to follow all of those characters. In different styles, different clothes etc. So you will always have problems knowing who is who. But that shouldnt be a problem since Secret Wars #1 has a "Who is Who" page in it.
Also i cant say it enough about how good the summary from OP is.

Go buy it. Its probably one of the best Marvel Events.

If Miles Morales (or Ultimate Nick Fury) was there all along it might as well be a new universe.

So, Secret Wars, then.

Huh.

So much for that, I guess. Back to waiting for the Age of Ultron trailer.

Secret Wars of who?

This announcement is wasted on me

Someone said that's from something else called Avengers station. I have no idea what that is.

Oh.

Well.

So.. that's it?

People still give a shit about Secret Wars?

Hahahaha. XD

There's a lot of disappointment to go around.

biggest announcement of 2014 which 0.01% of your current audience cares about.

Z7Xxb.gif

So this is a new movie? Or a continuation of the comic series?

I don't know anything about what you mentioned.

Oh, and here I thought it would be something people cared about.

Edit: I*

Welp, that's what I get for blowing my load too early. I am so unsatisfied right now.

Kudos to the comics loves I guess.

Female thor was ten times bigger news than this. How could they possibly consider this the biggest announcement of 2014?

Meh... there goes the hype train.

The confusion, the disappointment and the bitterness.

It was glorious. Granted it lasted for two pages, but it was good. Link

What the hell is wrong with you people. The UU is the best. ;_; What was wrong with it?

It started when Mark Miller got to write Ultimates 2 but really wanted to write The Avengers and immediately ruined Ultimate Thor.

Skip ahead, killed off 75% of the X-Men. Shit all over the F4.

Now to be fair, Ult Spidy is/was great and so was X-Men for a time.

As someone who really only got into DC after New 52-none of it means anything to me. :(

As someone who pretty much dropped DC after New 52 and wanted to see what the next big blow up would do to the shit show they've created, I figure it par for the course.

I'm not being difficult, just saying that if they reference it, which you both remark on now, then it's not a reboot. I haven't read the books.

As someone who only really follows newer, non-big-event Marvel titles (Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Spider-Gwen, and Rocket Raccoon for now), that Ms. Marvel #16 cover feels so sad. I'm excited that she'll have a spot in the All-New, All-Different Avengers, but I'll miss when she was just the small-time protector of Jersey City.

I love how the GOTG are in because of editorial and Hickman clearly doesn't give a fuck about them.

That raft had Doom's favorite kid in the world on there, no one they die.

Cyclops was right

If your phrasing is correct I'm gonna have to disagree because by that rationale, AoA was one and X-Men Prime ushered in a new continuity. I think most X-Men readers would disagree with these statements.
If somehow most of the post-SW characters have no memories of the pre-SW universe, then yeah, but remembering SW itself seems trivial.

I don't think you have a lot to be worried about. The FCBD issue feels like older Avengers are mentoring the younger heroes in ANAD. Kamala, Miles, and Sam probably aren't fighting Kang any time soon.

What I'm curious about is how she explains it to her parents. She has a hard enough time keeping her normal superheroing from them. What does she do when the Avenger symbol lights up the night sky?

Yea yea comics don't think about it...

Oh I know, I actually grabbed that issue during FCBD. Seeing Kamala being overjoyed to yell out "Avengers Assemble!" on the first page put a big, dumb smile on my face. Plus Miles has always been awesome. I'm still hope Ms. Marvel's solo series will keep things focused around her and her family though.

What is Miles' personality? I just see nothing there.

He bounces between bland and Ultimate Peter

Also speaking of the new Avengers Femthor needs to beat it.

I feel conflicted about it too. I love that she's getting recognition, but I love the constraints put upon her in her own book about her superheroing.

spent more time with Reed Richard's wife and kids than Reed did. Spider Man was an adopted member of the family. I can't imagine what this is going to do to Peter if they indeed died.

Oh shit. I had forgotten about that.

there was a great Spidey/FF arc post OMD where they reestablished how much the FF mean to Pete, as a family.

Fucking heartbreaking.

List of people that spend more time with Reed's family than Reed:

Pete
Vic
Ben
Johnny
Namor
Tchalla
The Moleman

so if they remember things before secret wars, is it still a reboot?

as far as I understand, thats all the Marvel comics available during all this. There are no "normal" books
There are normal books running.
Silk, Spider Gwen, Spider Woman, Daredevil, Moon Knight, among others.
Someone said that Spider Woman might end up being last days, but as of right now, it and the others are not tying into Secret Wars.
Amazing Spider-Man is also running its Spiral storyline.
