Yes. Any combination works really, for example, you can play online as 2 player split screen party, against another 3 player split screen party and the remaining 3 being randoms in a 4v4.
The game looked really basic but when I played the beta I was convinced. This is the real deal, and the developer's intentions to support the game post-release with free environments that get progressively more experimental has me excited as well.
One of those games that really nails the core mechanics so well (with a logical skill/difficulty curve) that everything else feels like whipped cream on top.

Yes, you can do any configuration of splitscreen/online/bots.

Count me as one of those people who hadn't heard about it until today.
I'm totally in, sight unseen! Not only is it free(ish), but everyone www absolutely raving about it in the PS+ thread like it was one of the best games I've ever had. I love out-of-nowhere-but-surprisingly-awesome gaming experiences, and indies are especially wonderful for that.

Also, this had an open Beta while back. It's not difficult to tell whether or not you like the game enough for it to be the GOTY.
To be honest, the Destiny beta was terrible. It was literally a small portion of the beginning of the game. Not sure what people saw in it that they didn't see in the full game.Destiyn had a really cool beta too.

We played the beta. Some even played the original on PS3. Trust me, this isn't "blind" fanboyism at all.

This is just to draw some attention to a game that would otherwise risk being overlooked. Calm thyself.
This isn't blind hype. The game has already had two betas. We've played it and it's an incredibly fun game.
A competitive sports-type game can be better represented by a beta than a game like Destiny. We know exactly what to expect from the experience the full version will offer.

It had a beta that was extremely fun. Even if everything outside of online multiplayer sucks, the core of the game is proven to be good.
I'd argue that it's good enough to justify this thread. I've played it, the OP has played it, tons of others have played it.

Gametrailers did a pretty interesting in-depth interview with the devs during E3 if anyone's interested.
Game looks fun, but it definitely seems like the sort of thing that you'd have to play to get.

Many of us played the game, there were at least 2 beta sessions (I was in 2 of them) and the game is great... One of the best multiplayer games out there...
Since you seem to want to doubt it, you should check out the thread for the beta... Everyone was gushing over it..

Again, past the inevitable and sadly clichéd personal attacks and post history detective posts, I simply think that it is a terrible idea to continue the trend of hyping games before they actually launch. Throwing around GOTY hyperbole isn't helpful and only further degrades the forum and the discourse it fosters until we are left with nothing but an echo chamber.
(And for the record I would put my Kickstarter backer history, psn account, and steam account up against just about anyone in this thread in terms of supporting indie games. I just think that these kind of hype threads are slowly choking this forum)
