Journey (PS4) |OT| Greatest Hits

Well you just run into them on a random basis. It's then up to you and/or the other person if you decide to stick together or not for the remainder of the game. If you and the other player drift apart far enough then you won't ever see him/her again. If you had 4 names during the end credits yet you didn't actually see anyone during your time spent playing the game then that's really weird.

My first time I had a long list of names, I saw only one that disappeared when I walked up to him, any other playthroughs had long lists as well but I never saw anyone.

I really like the Journey theme you get for pre-ordering. I love the little icons and Journey sounds it makes when you move through the menus.

I was thinking of delaying, but I might jump in while it's fresh. It'll be nice to have a big flurry of players all at once.

I'm not subscribed to PS+ at the moment, so I guess I'll need to be, to enjoy the MP.

I hope everyone that is playing this for the first time enjoys this gem. Absolutely stunning game. Beautiful, minimalistic perfection. It has all in the perfect measure, nothing lacking, and nothing in excess. I though understand that someone can be deterred by the shortness of the game, but there is a huge incentive to replay it, and the hinted story of the culture in the architecture and the hieroglyphs is enough to make someone's imagination run wild. At least it did so for me. Enjoy!

are you deliberately trying to spoil shit?

No pre-loading, midnight unlock for me :(

Really going to enjoy playing this again tomorrow. I need stuff like this lately 'cause I can't focus on big stuff right now. Also got someone who needs to play it 'cause they liked Flower but never got to play this.

First timers, temper your expectations. Don't let the hyper hype get to you, play it as you would any other game.

This. It was already at "wow, Journey won GOTY?" by the time I got to it, since I didn't have a PS3 for a period of time and a lot of my friends had already started never shutting up about it, so it would have been really easy to let the skepticism take over and go in hyper critical. I'm glad I just rolled with it.

Lots of big spoilers already.

Seriously, everyone who hasn't played it yet should just leave this thread. After all, it's only a day until release. It's really so much better going in without having seen anything from the game.

Hope they sort that out for cross buyers, I really want that theme! Transistor theme is getting old.

Stop giving it context, then.
Anyone that hasn't played really shouldn't be here.

Shouldn't be in the OT for the game they are excited to play for the first time?

Can we not have a week spoiler free rule or something? Or a no spoilers OT? Because I too would like to not be spoiled, but still discuss.

Can Journey really be completed in 1 hour?

Don't know about completing it in an hour, but if you rush through it and know what you're doing, you can get through 3/4 of the game within an hour (speak from personal experience).

Not something I'd recommend for first-timers, though. As I said earlier in the thread, soak it in, enjoy the experience and embrace what happens.

So I have Journey Collector's Edition for PS3 but haven't played this yet. How did the game run on PS3? Thinking about double-dipping for that fluidity and then graphics, but wanted to see what others thought.

I now have a reason to get through work and do my tax, cook dinner and write my latest blog as soon as possible!

Despite playing the game digitally at launch, I doubt much would really be too different when running off of the disc.

Regardless, there were only a few places where I noticed some hitches in the framerate, but mostly it ran really smoothly and quite solidly on PS3.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
This is the stupidest comment I have read on the internet all day. The OT is the correct place for newcomers to the game. Obviously.
Ugh. It's not, for anyone that's intentionally trying to avoid spoilers. Which is what I meant to specifically point out. From story to gameplay spoilers, you could expect spoilers of every aspect of the game in this topic.

If you specifically don't want to be spoiled, the OT is not the place to be. Notably, because this is a port of a 3 year old game.

That's hard to do because then the whole "it's three years old!" and "it's not really a spoiler" arguments a come out. By the time anything is settled, everyone will be playing the game. I personally, consider it a common courtesy to not post gifs of memorable moments of a 2 hour game. Good luck trying to discuss without someone posting an entire spread of every environment before noon tomorrow.

Either way. Whatever. It'll be memorable spoiled or not.

While that's true, given the game's length and relatively simple gameplay, the OT really only needs to convey a single thing for people that haven't already played, and that's "You should play this game and not come back to this topic until you have".

Like, there's nothing you can really talk about with the game, given its length and simple mechanics, which wouldn't touch on potential spoilers.

No, I'm quite aware of the difference, I think you meant to quote someone else.

Nope, I quoted the correct post. Regardless of time of release, OT's are generally free of spoilers unless it's specified in the thread title or there's use of the spoiler tags.

However, people might be less careful with remasters, I imagine. Anyway, your initial post refers to OT's in general, and those are supposed to be spoiler free so that's where people get their info before and during their playthroughs.

Was getting caught part of your plan?
Yeah, dont do that. The multiplayer is a really important, unique part of the game.

Depends who you're playing with though.

Every now and then, there's going to be that one person who won't stop pressing the signal button and implicitly insists you follow them somewhere.

I don't think you read/understood/interpreted their post right.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
The biggest surprise for me was realizing the game was online.

I straight up thought I was playing with an AI until the surfing time was over.

I was like, this is where all the budget went. Amazing AI.

Then it hit me:

OH SHIT! This cute fluttery bastard is totally some guy/gal helping me out!

That's when the fuzzy feels began...
