I'd say the Wings run has been more impressive. Didn't the Devils not even make the playoffs the year after they first won the Cup? Whereas the Wings have finished top 5 every year since '95.
Yeah, they missed the playoffs by 2 points. Eastern Conference was really competitive though. They would have been the 4th seed in the West that year.

He texted me all giddy and shit. Said Grabby looked ripped and chiseled in a tight yellow "Under Armour" shirt. They spoke briefly.

Tell us the full story Manics...

When Mike Richards is probably going to be your 4th line center, you know your team is going to beat some serious ass. However, the thought of Thornton making the team scares the shit out of me. He's a great player, but he fails all the fucking time.

Having all of Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Malkin, and Datsyuk on one team is a little fucked though. But Canada does look more well rounded.

Sweden looks good too. Lidstrom and Alfie are both getting older (still awesome though) but I guess that's offset by the Sedins being better than last time around.

Teams will probably have to fight to the death to beat Finland again. Great goaltending and many threats there.

USA should do way better than the turd you guys had in Italy. It'll be a young, fast team where the underdog card will be played like crazy.

All these teams have a shot at gold I think. All will be better than Italy too.

Wow...the league is going to be running scared of the Leafs this season!

I know the Leafs have been a joke for a while now, especially with JFJ. At least now they are shaping up. Although I jumped ship after lockout for the Pens, so it was cool to see a team you cheer for win the cup, after 4 or so seasons of following them, and not the 17 or so years I wasted on the Leafs with no gain at all. I honestly will never go back to the Leafs, Pens until the end. If they win the cup one day, good for them, I will still cheer for the Pens. Plus I like Crosby/Fleury/Gonchar :D

Only thing on the Leafs I'm cheering for and I want for my NHL 10 team roster is Gustavson and Schenn. I really want them to have a bright future in the NHL.

Forsberg might be able to play olympics after his latest surgery.

http://hockey.expressen.se/Nyheter/1.1681885/bengt-ake-hoppas-pa-forsberg-i-os

Forsberg at 60% would still be a boost for sweden as he put up 14p in 9 games with avs with a freaking batterypack in his pants.

Zetterberg-Forsberg-Alfredsson
Eriksson-Backstrom-Franzen
Sedin-Sedin-Huselius
Omark-Pahlsson-Axelsson

Lidstrom-Enstrom
Kronwall-Edler
stralman-Ericsson
Ohlund-Hedman

Lundqvist
Gustavsson

But that was 2 years ago right? Putting him in a possible first line makes our team look like a fucking joke. It would have been another thing if you said Sundin, but Forsberg, come on.

Sedin twins are definitely going to be the second line, probably with Samuelsson to boot.

I'd love to see them with Alfie though - that would be a SICK offensive threat.

Anyways - GO CANADA.

Really? You really think the US can do shit this time? Russia and Canada are STACKED, Sweden is damn good as you said, and you should never count out the Czechs. I'll honestly be surprised if the US makes it to the bronze medal game.

Forsberg has 1G and 13A in 9 games. That was with the Avs two years ago. I believe he played a total of three games in the Swedish Elite League last year.

The last time I saw Forsberg on TV he looked as dangerous as ever skating through the neutral zone with the puck. He's still scary good... not the Peter Forsberg that scored 110+ points in the NHL, but still a very solid player.

If Team Sweden were to take him, it should be for a third line role. He can't, and probably shouldn't be playing 1st line minutes.

Compare the US team from 2006 to now. They will have actual players to rely on rather than mediocre shit like Conroy or Tkatchuk. Parise, Kane, Stastny, Ryan, Kessel, then good secondary players like Booth. Decent defence and great goaltending. 2014 would be a much better year for them though. Its single elimination so really anything can happen, so I wouldnt be too surprised if they ended up in the gold medal game.

I was too lazy to look at Czech, so I assumed they would be old and useless. But you are right, they are looking good.

I doubt Sundin is a "joke". Put him on the first line and I think hes still a point per game player. I just don't believe his skill declined so much going from 2007-2008 to 2008-2009 when he had been so consistent his whole career.

Canada is stacked. Russia has a lot of game breakers and the duo of Ovechken and Malkin is tops...even so, I'd give the edge to Canada in all areas. Unless they choke. Again. Pls don't. :(

Canada always chokes at where it matters the most :( Nevermind hockey, they are pushing a young figure skater, Patrick Chan for the gold medal with all the commercials I see. So he'll probably choke and the Canadian hockey team will choke too, haha. Don't know if Vancouver can survive a loss from our hockey team though.

Forsberg has never been half as good or important playing for team Sweden and i dont think that doing nothing for 2 years will help. Sure Sundin is not what he used to be, but i still think that when he puts on the Swedish jersey he will raise himself like he always have done before.

Great "fan" you are. 17 years and nothing to show for it, fuck it I'm gonna cheer for another team! :lol There are Cub fans who lived and died without ever seeing a championship, those are true fans.

Sundin didn't even start to show shades of his former self in Vancouver until the Chicago series... during which he was one of Van's best forwards.

Sundin's skating and defensive abilities have dwindled. He's quite a bit slower than he used to be, and he doesn't backcheck as hard as I remember him backchecking 10 years ago. Nowadays he cuts to the bench anytime he's needed to backcheck, and doesn't really play on the PK at all.

Sundin already said that he wouldn't play in the Olympics, and IMO he's useless to any team if he doesn't sign before training camp. For years he was a very slow starter in Toronto... and that problem was exacerbated in Vancouver. If he takes another half-year off without working out or skating he won't be anything more than a 3rd liner.

Yeah. All that time fishing last summer hurt him. I don't think he cares anymore, but I think if he can get motivated and work out, he can still put up similar numbers to 2007-2008.

Whatever, that's your opinion. After what I went through and all the cheering and hoping only for a team that acted like it was a country club; if they have no respect towards their fanbase then why should I respect this team? Oh and I'm sticking with the Pens, even if they don't win for the next 10+ years, at least they are entertaining. The last time I remember the Leafs were good were the early 90's with the Gilmour/Moginly/Andreychuk. 15 or so years? I rather be a bad fan to a team that doesn't care about fans than someone who follows them blindlessly and still pays those overpriced tickets for one of the worst teams in the league. What a joke. :lol

Tavares will get the '18 year old snub' just as Crosby got it in the last olympics. There simply is too many good canadian players that have already proven themselves at this level.

Moginly was 2001 to 2004. Get out of here bandwagoner.

Its not an 18 year old snub when you have no idea how he may perform in the NHL. He hasnt played a single game yet and is no where near the hype of crosby

Could care less, that you feel hurt that I'm not a fan of the 'awesome' leafs :lol

Fine Moginly was there early 2000, I was mainly talking about the Gilmour/Andreychuk/Clark, from my early childhood. I guess I mixed up the lines. Calling me a bandwagoner would mean I am switching constantly between the next good team, when I have been following the Pens soon after lockout. Get your garbage terminology out of here. :lol

Would you be following the Pens if they won the 30th overall pick in the Crosby Sweepstakes?

Sure, why not? I'm not following it mainly because of Crosby (Like many other "bandwagoners"). I just like the fact that they are entertaining to watch, there is something different about them than any other team. Plus the nostalgia of watching Lemieux and Jagr on the same team when I was little, brings back good memories of that team.

Pretty sure if you were watching the Pens before the lockout, you would have questioned the league ever coming back. Most boring, shit team ever. These last years have been a treat.

Ya I am so hurt about my awesome leafs. If you read this thread before your posts then you would know that I think the leafs are crap right now yet I stuck with them.

But well lets see now. Toronto was a good team before the lockout. Then Pens became a good team after the lockout. Sure sounds like jumping on the bandwagon for the Pens like so many other people. Even if you are a true fan you will always be a bandwagon fan because you werent there before the lockout, before crosby and malkin.

To answer some people. I thought they were entertaining prior to the lockout when I watched them play against the Leafs. Maybe it was because before that I was always consumed with the Leafs that I never cared for other teams, I was one of those fans that would follow every progress made. So a switch to another team made it entertaining nonetheless. I guess you could assume that I am a "bandwagoner" because I came after the lockout. Although that was never my goal.

The Leafs were never good before the lockout, they haven't been good for a while now. Like I said previously with JFJ it was like a country club. Also didn't someone say that during the summer only 5 would train now 25 are. That is sad, even if you aren't good, at least try to show respect for your fans who are cheering for you and believing you are trying to at least win the cup, which clearly wasn't the case with the Leafs.
