Mighty No. 9 Officially delayed - No new date, "aiming for Q1 2016"

I'm still amazed that they delayed this info just because of that shitty kickstarter. Makes the whole thing seem that much scummier in retrospect.

Well, can't say I'm too upset. Better to delay a game than to release first and patch later, or to just leave it broken (well, depending on how interesting the bugs are).

So instead of publisher-related issues, they are being held up with bug fixing across 5+ platforms and online modes?

If so....could they just have done the following instead?
-Release the game October on PS3, 360, PS4, X1, Wii U, PC without the online modes
-Release a patch with the online/MP modes early 2016 (Jan/Feb)
-Launch the handheld versions early 2016 (Feb/March)

That way you are releasing your game throughout a number of months and keeping Mighty No. 9 fresh in peoples heads a positive way (as the game would have been out, leading people to play it and judge the game based on itself, not Inafune being stupid).

Instead, they not only announce a delay to add all these modes but they with-hold the delay news in a attempt to make the Red Ash Kickstarter more successful (which didn't work, as they had to get a publisher to get funding for the project due to badly mishandling its Kickstarter campaign). Great move guys, you look even more shady now then you did before X(.

Still looking forward to playing Mighty No. 9 (as Gamexplain's videos on the E3 build was very positive :)) but man, Inafune's projects keep getting more and more troubled due to bad management :l.

Hope Re:Core doesn't suffer from Inafune too, as I really want to see Armpature going back to doing great work on console games after finishing the Prime Trilogy (former Metroid Prime devs) years ago.

Well despite this game being pushed back over and over, I'm glad they are waiting to rid t his game of bugs. It would be even worse if it was released with a ton of bugs. People would be absolutely losing their shit more so than now.

Online features? Like what, highscores? I don't give a shit about that

Bleh, whatever, all I can do is wait.

Sucks, but glad they decided to do that instead of just releasing a broken game as so many other publishers have done in recent years.

Yikes. This has to be the worst high-profile Kickstarter so far.

I mean, I was excited at first too, but the game didn't even look fun the last few times they showed it; now it's just kind of embarrassing with such a huge delay and the Red Ash debacle.

Of course they would deny this shit until after red ash ended, I'm glad the other games I've backed on Kickstarter have gone much better than this so I'm not totally soured on crowdfunding.
I get that delays happen but trying to start another Kickstarter and just lying about Mighty No. 9 being delayed till after Red Ash is finished is making me swear off backing inafune forever. I just want my copy of the game so I can play it already and lay this crappy Kickstarter to rest.

With the timing of the rumors, the denials, and finally the confirmation, they actually did wait until the Red Ash kickstarter finished to announce this.

How sleazy.

Scummy as hell to keep the news of this delay under wraps till after the red ash kickstarter.

Id have no problem with a delay, hell,I'm used to it with kickstarted games. But them knowing that they're months away from finishing the game and keeping it under wraps so they can attempt to squeeze the last drops of goodwill money through another kickstarter is some truly awful bullshit.

My thoughts exactly.

I cannot imagine Inafune being able to do another crowd funded game after this unless MN9 ends up being well above expectations.

He better hope he can reuse these assets to make sequels for years to come.

Jesus glad I never backed it.
I wish I could say the same. I backed it just enough to get a copy of the game. Now I don't even care. It looks terrible compared to the concept art. At this point I consider the money I spent on it lost and the cost of a lesson learned. I'm done with Kickstarter, Early Access, and the like.

Why does a game like this have online features that can't be patched in later?!

God damn, Inafune....all these talk and no action to prove it.

What the hell happened?

I sincerely hope that Bloodstained will not have a similar situation.

Bloodstained will get delayed, certainly. It's simply the nature of the beast.

I don't think IGA will lie about it, though.

Oh for fuck's sake.

I'm severely upset for backing this game now, it's hard for me to put into words.

They really dun fucked up.

Welp

Someone redub the entire pitch video with the Price is Right fail music

Now I'm honestly wondering if they -were- counting on the Red Ash money to funnel into this for whatever reason.

The RA KS is starting to look like a symptom rather than a mistake

Also, attempting to pin this on QA and backers not sending back surveys is scummy and transparent.

This is unacceptable, especially when he decided he was going to launch another kickstarter knowing very well the game was going to be delayed and didn't tell his backers, thats sort of despicable and I hope he never passes a kickstarter again, there needs to be some sort of accountability.

This is sad because there's a lot of worthy projects on these services (Wasteland 2 for one, just off the top of my head), but understandable.

One ineptly run campaign and product really does ruin it for a lot of others.

Yup,any game that hits a significant amount of stretch goals can usually be counted on to add anywhere from 6 months to a year and a half to its projected kickstarter planned release date.

Considering how much bloodstained made and how much extra is now being put into it I can easily see it being delayed by a year or so. Which should be completely fine as long as they're transparent about the fact.

Hell, inxile had delayed wasteland 2 and launched torments kickstarter and people were still incredibly supportive because of the excellent job they had done being open and honest and not running their reputation into the ground like inafune is currently doing...

Scummy, just like how Double Fine waited until their Massive Chalice kickstarter was over to announce the Broken Age delay and split.

I find it wierd that many people are saying to just release the game without online and patch it later. I rather wait and have everything on the disk but I guess I'm old fashioned.

You think they should use the extra 3 months to totally redo the graphics?

They could certainly unclutter the gui a bit, mute the background and jaz up the character shaders which'd help.

Of course, we don't know if its actually going to be 3 months. Being so vague as to say Q1 suggests it could be 5.
