It's funny how these keep happening. This ongoing one seems to be one of the best in a while.

There's this recap:

-- OP has $450 worth of gift cards to sell. He decides to list them on the CheapAssGamer forums.

-- A CAG user (henceforth CU) shows interest in the gift cards. As CU had more reputation than OP, OP was obligated to send first.

-- OP decides to send a $50 card first, await payment, and then send the rest.

-- OP sends the first $50 card (via email?). CU claims it does not work, and pressures OP to hurry up the transaction.

-- For some reason, OP mails the entire $450 stack of gift cards to CU. It is unclear if this was ever communicated to CU before the cards were shipped.

-- CU goes completely silent, and does not pay OP once the cards arrive.

-- OP goes bananas, posts on the CAG forums about being scammed. CU claims his account was hacked, and that OP was scammed by the hacker.

-- An admin on the CAG forums confirms that CU has been logging on via the same IP for years. Basically, he lied about being hacked.

-- OP tracks down CU’s Facebook. In the resulting conversation, CU impersonates both a lawyer and a policeman, and continues to deny that the transaction ever happened.

-- OP posts his saga on GAF. Notably, he ignores all posts pointing out that Target could’ve had the cards invalidated. It is also established that OP never went to the authorities about this, instead deciding to internet detective his money back.

-- OP decides it’s time to escalate this. He contacts CU’s father, his employer, and the dean of his university. He argues with anyone who points out how incredibly not-OK this is, and accuses GAF of bandwagoning against him.

Think I just saw that twist. Hahahahaha holy shit was not expecting this!

Edit: Come to think if it... I really should have. At some point another poster calls the OP immature (it might have been on CAG or here, I forget). And the OP replies...
"I enjoy Family Guy and South Park"

We actually had foreshadowing of this twist! :D

I thought this'd be that guy that thought he was being scammed and used the gift cards. Though this twist isn't ironic, it still hit like a truck. I feel bad because it involved some Twitter stalking, but that revelation was spectacular!

I don't know if it quite qualifies as back fire.. But early this year I started a thread asking about my Xbox disc drive. See, I was watching Interstellar and the drive stopped working. It started clicking, and making strange sounds. Everyone kept making jokes that I didn't understand until I finally finished the movie.

Trying to watch Interstellar.
