Based on the gameplay from Tomb Raider: Legend/Anniversary (except for the grapple).

A work in progress with the first level being released towards the end of the year.

Why it might not be taken down:
He did get approval from the senior community manger at CD as long as there isn't monetizing and such (she even mentioned the remake at a TR Q&A at gamescom).

Looking at the gameplay test, those animations are 100% Tomb Raider (Anniversary). I'll be cautiously pessimistic about it actually reaching completion.

The gameplay test vid is actually very good, with nice animations and seemingly spot-on movement (hard to tell without actually playing, but still). I'm impressed.

Crystal Dynamics will be quite interested in this, I'm sure.

Edit: Looks like this may see a release after all. Good stuff.

This actually looks great. Square should really do something like this instead of those tacky and dull Guardian top down games.

If somebody *really* wants to release this there are ways to get it into people's hands without being subject to takedowns.

Been keeping a eye on and off since he posted it at Tomb Raider Forums, and it been looking quite good so far.

And this won't be DMCA'ed, why?

Neat. It is great that they're cool with this. Then again, this could change at any time.

I appreciate the effort but i hate Legend/Aniversary/Underworld controls.

He should have stayed faithful to the source material and made an improved version of the grid control system. Also hate that version of Lara as well.

They are using the anniversary model touched up a bit. Still the best 'original' lara model. Could do without legends and underworld

The most faithful version of classic Lara Croft in terms of facial features was the AoD model. After that i stopped recognizing Lara in Tomb Raider games.

That always looked to me like a slightly higher res version of her PS1/Dreamcast model from TR4.

Outside of hating the game, the model as well felt out of the times.

I dunno. Core released a free official Tomb Raider Level Editor as part of Tomb Raider Chronicles and there's a thriving community of Tomb Raider fan games to this day.

Doesn't SE have the last word here? Would be very surprised if they let this happen (I hope so!)

That looks stunning, the animations are spot on.

The only bit can get annoying would be her screaming on every jump, aside from that, beautifull work.

The project is in the 20 Years of Tomb Raider book with the section for fan-made projects and Tomb Raider Level Editor levels.

And yeah that intro is nicely done.

That's really cool, looks quite fresh too and not out of place. Not enough people like puzzles for games like this though, maybe one day again.

Damn. I want this. One of my most played games on the PS1.

When it comes out, I hope the puzzles will be more difficult and expansive than the original TR2.
