Pokemon Sun/Moon new info - Starter evolutions, Demo, Ash-Greninja

I'm starting to wish Pokemon would change up the starter types someday.

I know they usually get a second type once they are fully evolved, but I think it would freshen up the early game if they did 3 different types that roughly match the Water/Fire/Grass combo.

Fighting, Psychic, Dark maybe?

Wait they did that gen 6 with the secondary types
Oops.

Popplio has gone full twin tail. If the final evolution is tsundere, she'd be the ultimate otaku bait

And I guess this is confirmation all Popplio are female?

Poison,steel,fairy?

Something like that, sure.

I was someone that had a gap in my Pokemon knowledge. I was HUGE into the first games, then lost interest for several generations and have only been casual about it after I got back into it around Diamond/Pearl.

Having some different starter types would definitely help me remember some of the strengths and weakness of some of the less common ones.

Introduce three new types just to work. Or start them all as like dragon type or something and get water/fire/grass in final evo. I dunno.

I think the importance of the classic three starter types is more about new players being introduced to the Rock Paper Siscors system.

That being said the system isn't complicated, and I wouldn't mind a change.

Water/fire/grass is a pretty easy triangle to understand to newcomers, though.

That's the main reason it won't change. A lot of the other type weaknesses and resistances are just arbitrary arcane nonsense to newcomers.

Yup, though its fun to think up reasonings and such.

Like that Awkward Zombie comic.

"Brains over Brawn", "Two birds with one stone", and so forth.

I stopped playing pokemon since the GBA ones and I thought they were just "more of the same" but this one is looking like a good game to start playing pokemon again.

I love the leaked Final Starters but not really feeling the Mid-Forms---Toracat I'm warming up to though (someone mentioned it's in like a crouching wrestling pose) and it's really making me consider more and more going with Fire first this time around instead of Grass.

Dartrix and Brionne aren't necessarily bad, but I like the before and after more here.

EDIT: Brionne's Japanese name being Oshamari makes me laugh, though of course then in Japan Oshawott is Mijumaru---but still.

Thoughts on Chesnaught?

I like all the mid forms too. i still love Rowlett the best but I'll be damned, I feel like I'd be happy with any of the starters.

Kinda feel like Rowlett's final evo leak doesn't match up quite as well design wise as the other two do though. Then again, there's been weird shake ups before, like Dewott and Braxien and Quilladen and Wartorlte.

Alright, not particularly a favorite but not one I hate.

I usually love the Middle Forms though (Grotle and Pignite are some of my favorites), but these are lacking for some reason---but I'm sure I'll grow to love them over time. Only Middle Form I really can't stand still is Servine, but I hate that whole line.

1st time ever going with the grass starter. The only time I went with a fire starter was Cyndaquil, every other time it was the water starter. I beat Silver twice just to do it again with Totodile. This time out the grass starter final evo looks the best. The fire starter might as well be Emboar again and the water starter is basura.

Count me among those who think Brionne is super cute :3
She's not as amazing as Braixen but if the leak is true then she at least doesn't have a trip to my bank in her future as that final evo looks great :D I'm glad because I usually struggle to really settle on a water pokemon for my team :p Lurantis is going to cause a battle with Lilligant for my grass slot though :/

Ash-Greninja has the best final starter design since Empoleon. Too bad they called it Ash-Greninja... that's quite silly. Delphox for sure needs a similar evolution considering how badly they messed up it's design. Braixen was so awesome
Delphox was a mistake :p

I agree that Gen 5 was bad (especially final forms), but Popplio is still on track to be the worst of all time.
I think it's a testament to how varied people's tastes can be if you think that while for me the Popplio line might be the first starter I don't immediately bank as soon as it hits 3rd evo (Fennekin line was so close to doing that... then Delphox happened :/ )

I don't think the Popplio line is getting stick for being feminine, though. Braixen was enormously popular, possibly the first middle evo to really grab the community. It's getting stick for just being a bad design.

That's amazing XD

Yeah in pokemon, gender feels like just another parameter. It only affects breeding I think.

well there is also appearance as gender effects some pokemon appearances slightly

also there is Meowstic who has different move set depending on what gender it is but it's the only pokemon like that

With every showing, this game looks better and better. So excited to see Mega Evolutions back. Assumed they weren't going to be around. Not everyone loves them, but there are some pretty cool forms, Lopunny being one of my favorite, so happy to hear it's making a return. Also, I have yet to play a 3DS demo. Would anyone happen to know how transferring Ash's Greninja to Sun and Moon works?

if to be believed

85 new mons*

51 new mons seen (including qutifly evo, pikpek + 2 stage, marshadow)

20 Alolan forms

10 seen

Yeah They kinda blew their load again on pre launch. It was a good ride though, Ill be satisfied with the demo datemine

I think the kindest thing I can say about Popplio is that I can see it having an appeal for the sort of people who like moe and MLP and say waifu.

Yeah, its totally not like girls play Pokemon or anything. That's obviously what they were going for 😑

Edit: also funny that you mention MLP, another childrens property that adult men are convinced is for them instead of, you know, kids.
