Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

Super Hypercube is one of my most-wanted games, but $30 is very steep. It's only one mode. You try over and over again to beat your high score. I actually like that about it, but this should be priced $10 like Tumble.

Yeah, just that one mode, I'm passing for now. When it goes on sale for $15 or so, I'll bite, but $30 is just a lot for something like that, VR or not.

I'm all preordered, but pretty disappointed in what's available at launch. Not really any AAA titles, let alone killer apps - just ports, puzzlers and minigames. Big developers seem to be taking a wait and see approach.

That's the smart thing to do with a niche device, tbh

Can't develop AAA games without knowing the install base, wait till 2017 then you'll get your AAA games.

What we have for now is decent AAA support without devs knowing the install base:

Resident Evil 7, DriveClub VR, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, Gran Turismo Sport, Robinson: The Journey, WRC 6, Ace Combat 7

Give it time.

Wth, $30! The game looks incredibly simplistic.

If you're disappointed with the launch line up, you should probably consider canceling. The launch line up is insanely good.
I'm not sure what other types of games you're expecting, but the launch line up has pretty much everything.
I'm not sure if you've tried VR, but shoehorning call of duty into VR just to say it's VR isn't going to work. The game you think you want in VR is very different from the game you will actually want to play in VR.
Like take a look at some of the bigger AAA titles to come out this year. Dark souls, Uncharted, Gears of war, Call of Duty Battlefield etc. I don't think playing any of those in VR would be better than playing them normally. So then why bother?

I agree with the launch line up being great, got about 10 games preordered so far of various types. I'm super hyped but also realistic on what to expect from the games and the headset itself.

If we get all those within a year, I'd say that lineup stacks up pretty well against PS4's first-year lineup, all things considered. I really think VR's sweet spot is going to be with indies, at least for a while. Seems to me that the lower expectations re: graphical fidelity are going to kind of level the playing field for smaller developers with lesser budgets.

And probably took years and years to develop? And is apparently super good? And is launching at a niche hardware launch?

Game value got real fucked somewhere along the line.

It's launching alongside titles that have more content for less $. If this were a barebones launch, they could charge that much. As it is, they would sell a ton more if they priced this $10 less.

Pretty sure Project Cars got cancelled on PSVR?

Yeah, that's what I don't get with this VR game pricing. I think they would more money selling more copies at a lower price point. Stuff like Eve for $60 just seems nuts.

That last point is really no reason for me to pay more for the game. It sure makes the business case more challenging to the publisher, but it doesn't make the game more valueable to me as a consumer.

Reading lots of VR doom and gloom due to movement in virtual reality "not being there yet". Yet, everything I've read about Far Point is that it uses traditional analogue stick movement and most people don't get sick.

Has anything been said about how they overcame this barrier? Do they have a secret they aren't sharing with everyone?

The Wired just posted a PSVR Disassembly Video by SIE mechanical design director Takamasa Araki

Pretty awesome stuff, rubbers and cushions are user-removable.

https://www.wired.com/2016/10/psvr-teardown-video/

Wonder if you could attach a better display like Oculus or Vive to the unit to improve the resolution hmmm.

And in turn, gain the inferior Pentile display. Even if it was possible, I wouldn't do it. We've already seen that sub-pixels matter just as much as resolution if not moreso.

as far as i'm aware, more if not all demo's of farpoint have used the gun peripheral.

Still no update on my Amazon UK order. It says "carrier info will be updated soon".

Anyone else got carrier details from Amazon UK? Should I panic yet?

Which has an analogue stick on it for player movement. Yet people don't get sick...

Because your only using the left analog stick for forward and backwards motion, rotation movement is provided by the PS VR and Aim Controller.

People get sick because of the right analog stick that provides rotation movement in other games which your inner ear doesn't detect you doing in real life, making your brain fucked up and making you sick.

Basically :p

There is a right stick on the gun as well. Is it used in FP?

i'd assume it's because the gun aiming anchors you to the scenario more-so than a control pad. reports suggest motion sickness can be reduced if you can somehow trick your brain into believing what you're seeing by increasing immersion as to what you're feeling. so driveclub should make you feel less motion sickness if you use a wheel compared to a pad. and i assume the added brain tricking motions involved in aiming and holding a gun helps in terms of farpoint? but i don't really know.

That's most likely true. However, I wonder how they're going to solve the issue of full 360 degree rotation, when the camera won't be able to see you. If the game relies on the player to actually turn, there will have to be times when the player will inevitably have to turn back, and from what I've read so far, the gyroscope in the Move controllers doesn't do a great job at tracking that movement.

Damn.. I'm torn on getting Loading Human... I want a proper VR experience just for the story.

look at maximum games track record and make your decision based on that. they made alekhines gun (a broken mess) and ported lichdom battlemage (worst framerates i've ever seen this gen) prepare for serious motion sickness if you do.

To be fair, Maximum Games is publishing/distributing Loading Human. The developer is Untold Games. However, this is their first game, so I can still understand the concerns.

Not that I have seen, if used it would probably do rotation in VR comfort mode like Here They Lie and other VR Games do.
That way you can rotate back without actually turning.

Quite interested in that myself. In fact its difficult to choose what to start with on launch day. There is just so much to choose from. Have to try to be somewhat sensible too, but its difficult :p
